You need to include the value of your current iPhone.

$90 + $164 + trade in 16GB iPhone 6 for example (~$450 on Craigslist) = $694

Which makes it cheaper to just sell my 6+ on Swappa for $515~ and pay their regular $24/mo. plan. Total spent after the trade-in is $354 ($192 to buyout a 6s+ according to Twitter DMs). Total spent on their non-trade-in plan is $80~ (after selling my existing 6+).

So this still applies if we already pre-ordered the phone, correct? I am switching to T-Mobile and trading in my current Verizon iPhone 6.

Apologies then. I thought this was just another dig at Samsung just because. Even though they don't hold value as well, anyone trading in a Note 5 or Note Edge for that would be crazy. Just sell it. Note 4 would be worth it though if you wanted a 6S+.

I have no clue why they wouldn't list the Galaxy S6. The Note 5 is so random for a phone that has been out a month.

T-Mo is doing awesome things. If they keep this up, I might get my whole family to switch (which I've been struggling to do because of my grandfathered unlimited AT&T plan). But first step is to do the weeklong free trial to test their service in my area. Hopefully I can use a 6S to test 3D Touch! :)

Could someone explain this to me:

Why would I want to keep my 6s in a year?? I would want iPhone 7 at that point. Will t-mobile give me iPhone 7 after I give back my 6s in 12 months, not 18?

Can I use this program even though I'm on prepaid?

my question is, lets say i trade in my iPhone 6 for 6s. after 12 months, i want to upgrade to the 7 (assuming the equivalent model to 6s) would the cost jump back to regular pricing? or would they honor the introductory pricing?
for me, i'm looking at whether it's really worth it to get a 6s since my iPhone 6 works just fine. if i need to end up paying the regular rate for 7 when it comes out, i might as well just keep the 6 till then and sell it on ebay and purchase 7 separately.

plus, hypothetically i swap to iphone 7 and price jumps back to normal levels, wouldn't i actually lose out on the trade in value of the iPhone 6 i wouldve gotten if i just sold it on my own? ($15 x 12 = 180, or if i sell it i can get maybe $500)

You never know... Might be $27.. might be $20.... might be $35.

When you lease a Toyota Camry for $199 for 24 months... they don't know or tell you what the car will cost in 25 months... They may or may not be running a similar deal.

This is post paid - JOD - 3 times a year you can jump to a phone so in 12 months when the 7 comes out, you can jump

While I'm pro T-Mobile these are ****** deals. Why bother trading in the phone? You're saving $15 a month for 18 months. I can sell any 6/6+ for over $400. What's worse is that the person trading in a 16G 6 will get the same money as someone trading in a 128G 6+!?

Whats the data allowances? Bet they are Rubbish!!
I'm paying $110 a month for 2.5gb each on a family plan of 5 phones. Tmobile is pretty generous.

The caps are only for LTE data. 2g data is unlimited after you hit your cap.

You can get Unlimited LTE for $30 each on top of your bill. Still reasonable.

This is how I see this breaks down, for a 64GB iPhone 6S as an example:

Retail Cost: $750
Upfront cost: -$100
$4/month*18 months: -$72
Pay at end to keep it: -$164
-------------------------------
Difference: $414

So they are essentially paying you $414 for your trade-in iPhone 6. Not bad at all.

Not really because you get the same deal if you DON'T trade-in your phone. The only thing that changes is you'll be paying $19 per month for 18 months instead of $4($270 extra cost for NOT trading in your phone, so that's what they're giving you for your phone). Everything else stays the same. So take your phone, sell it elsewhere (well over $270), use the $270 to pay the extra monthly fee and pocket the rest.

If you do one of these deals on the phone, do you get to mail in the old iPhone or do you have to take it to a dreaded, physical store?

I jumped to Sprint last year when I was mid contract with AT&T and Sprint paid all my early termination fees. Now I'm mid contract with Sprint on five lines and am considering making the jump to T-Mobile (my family has been complaining about Sprint's service/coverage since day one). I'll owe something like $2700 in etfs and device fees to Sprint if I go. The other day I was researching T-Mobiles offerings and they were gonna pay me something like $3250 to cover the etfs and phone trade ins. I told Sprint about this and asked if they'd just upgrade my lines to 6s' and they said, no we have a contract and neither one of us can break it. See ya Sprint.

Those depend on the actual plan. The numbers quoted here are the phone lease. Right now I believe they're doing four lines with 10gb of data each for $120, so $30 per line. The data also rolls over. You can upgrade each line to unlimited high speed for an extra $30 per line.

And keep in mind that the 10GB is the high-speed allotment, which slows down to 128Kbps down/up afterwards, but that's still unlimited.

Tmobile will only cover $650 per device or whatever the etf for the device is, whichever is lower. You will need to upload a final bill to receive all credits.

Keep in mind that a large portion of this payout is in bill credits. They appraise the devices in store, apply bill credits, and then lay out the difference in a prepaid Visa card. My final bill for ATT was $1001 and tmobile gave me $840 of that in bill credits, the rest is coming via the prepaid card. In short, you will likely need to fork over that lump sum to Sprint, though you won't have a phone bill with TMO for a few months.

Yep. Also, streaming most music doesn't count against the data allotment. I personally feel that better terminology is 10gb high speed data without overages. There's not a whole lot one can do with edge speeds these days, but you're absolutely right. You can theoretically keep rolling.

I'm also unsure how the "free" music stream works if you hit your cap. We haven't even gotten close since 80% of my data usage is streaming in the car or the gym. I think I used 1.5GB last month where I was pushing 8 on ATT. In an ideal world TMO immediately recognizes the data being pulled shouldn't go against your allotment and therefore comes through unthrottled. But I really don't know how robust that system is. I do know that when trying to see my usage it's not in real time (it even says so when requesting the information) and is actually a couple hours behind.

The only thing that irks me about this is that a 16GB iPhone 6 (originally $650 retail) gives the same trade-in value as a 128GB iPhone 6 Plus (originally $1,050 retail). Of course the face that I got the $950 64GB iPhone 6 Plus certainly might contribute to my observation of this "injustice" (not that I'm going to be doing this anyway)

You also receive the trade in value of the phone... So in my case 64gb Space Gray iPhone 6 I will get $361 + ($15 off per month X 18)= 270 = $631 for your phone so long as you don't buy it out right next year. But that is only if you lease for 18 months and don't buy out your phone at the end.

OR more realistically you'l trade in after 12 months for the iPhone 7 and you "made" only $361+$180= $541 cause you didn't stick with the current promotion... still beats your $400 though.

It's not bad... my sister is giving me $695 over a 15 month payment plan with me so that's how I'm actually selling mine. :p

Either way I'm still coming out around $600 to the good on the deal and I've got a T-Mobile store around the corner from my house. I can pay Sprint off while I'm using up the bill credits. It would be simpler if Sprint would do something to keep me but mobile plans are like the wild west right now. I predict I'll be doing the same jump/upgrade to the 7 in a year at this rate, wonder which provider will be offering the craziest deal then...
