I'm on T-mobile (through another, much cheaper reseller) and although they seem to be better in every way than the other carriers, their plans do just seem a little high to me. A 3GB LTE plan is $60/month, whereas I have my wife on Cricket's 2.5GB plan for $35 (including taxes and fees).

Maybe their value is more apparent when you can get a bunch of lines on the same plan, but for an individual it just seems high.
Single lines on all major carriers always seem to go this way. They'd rather get you locked in multiple lines. Two lines with 10gb is $100, so you've already drastically jumped up in value there, assuming you have two lines you could use. Keep in mind music streaming doesn't count against your allotment; my wife and mother could very well do with just a basic 1gb plan at that rate (the 10gb still comes out cheaper)

Pay as you go is almost always the way with single lines IMO. Once you get multiple lines you tend to get multiple perks, and of course, better financing options on phones if you upgrade yearly.

TL;DR their single lines aren't a good value. I doubt very many people are using them.

This is an amazing deal if you're positive you're going to stay with T-Mobile for the next 18 months using the same phone.

However, I won't do it despite being a T-Mobile customer because I like getting a new iPhone every 12 months, not 18 months. The JUMP plan allows this, but then I'll be committed to T-Mobile for another 18 months. That means I have to plan to switch carriers up to a year and a half in advance, and then before I switch, I'll want to have an 18-month old phone so I don't have to pay the fee for the phone. As I said, it's a great deal if you're going to stay with T-Mobile for a long time, but I'll pay for freedom.

T-Mobile lets you buy out your EIP at any time. You're free to leave whenever w/o any service penalties. You just need to pay off your phone.

You're not getting what I'm saying... the $5 a month is pretty much for a iPhone 6 level of trade in. But for anything "lower" than a 5S you get the $12 a month... as long as your phone qualifies. But pretty much ANY phone that isn't listed on the tiers will get at least the $12 a month bill credit. But there are no tiers in between what is listed. The next one down is just the $7 JOD Promo.

So what I'm saying is either my old HTC phone qualifies for the $12 (any smartphone) trade in deal or it doesn't.

But they are pretty much saying you can buy a $20 Pay as you Go phone and trade it in. The value is worth nothing so they don't give you a trade in value but they do give you a monthly promo credit. It doesn't hurt them in any way to give away an extra $5 credit a month if it brings in more people with new services because at the end if you buy the 6s outright they get all that money back from you (minus the $126 JOD promo credit) or you give them back a 1 year old phone for them to sell somewhere else. But either way they are doing this to boost their subscribers not to make money on selling/leasing you phones.
That's not the way I understand it, but if it works out that way, that's awesome for everyone.

These are just the new contracts, with a different name lol.

Keep in mind you can always just buy the phone out. In unsure what you're doing now (sounds like buying outright?) but the phone will never cost you MORE than the full MSRP of the device.
You can, but you'll lose the savings. I signed up for the JoD when it was $15/mo with the trade in of any smartphone. It is $27/mo minus a monthly credit of $12. So if I decide to payoff the phone in say month 6, I'll lose out on $144 by paying it off 12mos early. They know what they're doing ;)

Trade-in iPhone 6 128gb for the new iPhone 6s Plus 128gb

$200 upfront + $7x18/months ($126) + $228 buyout = $554

$950 - $554 = $ 396 for trade in value?

Can somebody work at T-Mobile confirm if this is correct?

Right. I was simply comparing it to the alternative; paying MSRP to the phone because my original response was to someone staring they didn't want to be locked into tmobile for 18 months. You are not locked into tmobile for 18 months at a time unless your absolute end game is to get a phone for under MSRP.

Their service and Retail presence are both spotty. These programs require you go to a T-Mobile store to buy the phone and back to return the phone so they can look at it in person and then accept all of the trade / return business right then and there.

The nearest store to me is a 2 hour drive so I have to factor in over a tank of gas in my purchase. In addition to that, the service in my town is fine T-Mobile coverage. all surrounding areas in a 60 mile radius are "partner coverage" aka Roaming on 2G/3G. So if I drive down to boston, half of my trip will be roaming and if I drive up to Quebec, 90% of my trip will be roaming..then I hit Canada and have international duty to pay.

This is a fantastic deal if you live in a city. For the rest of us, T-Mobile has a long way to go. I seriously considered this for the savings but it would be like only having a phone when I'm at work or home. Not useful as I already have an iPad w/ Verizon.

Not our fault you live in Enfield, New Hampshire. Sounds miserable.

Has anybody heard a solid word on whether or not people that are already on jump on demand with a newer phone will be Eligible for this new pricing?

Thanks guys!

i see unlimited data for $80 not $30 a month
It's $30 on top of the additional "base" price of the line.

Cheapest single line is $50. Adding unlimited to that (+$30) makes it $80.

Again, cheaper per line (aberage) as a family plan. It's still an additional $30 per line for unlimited lte

The buyout for the $7/mo trade in promo won't be $228. I'd put money on that bet.
The only discount you get from buying out your leased phone is the $126 you're saving in bill credits for the JOD Promo.
If you're going to buy out it's not worth trading in. The trade in promo is only really useful for getting a super low lease price, they don't really care how low they lease the phone to you because in the end they get it back to sell off.

You also receive the trade in value of the phone... So in my case 64gb Space Gray iPhone 6 I will get $361 + ($15 off per month X 18)= 270 = $631 for your phone so long as you don't buy it out right next year. But that is only if you lease for 18 months and don't buy out your phone at the end.

OR more realistically you'l trade in after 12 months for the iPhone 7 and you "made" only $361+$180= $541 cause you didn't stick with the current promotion... still beats your $400 though.

It's not bad... my sister is giving me $695 over a 15 month payment plan with me so that's how I'm actually selling mine. :p

You sure about that? There's no mention of getting any money in addition to saving $15 per month for your existing phone. Where are you getting the values you listed?

Because the promo credits are not in your EIP, you see the buyout before credits when signing. I don't suspect the buyout will change at all, unless they do EIP differently with this plan. None of my EIP reflect any credits that I've been given. The credits just show up monthly on the account. It's a bit unorthodox since you're effectively signing off one thing and expecting TMO to, in good faith, keep it rolling with the credits.

Me too, however to figure this out some people will need a math degree.

Why so complicated?

Just offer a fixed amount for any smartphone trade in . Done!

Oh yes I absolutely am getting my $12 times 18 :D Actually I preordered early, iP6s 64GB, so the price went up from $27 to $33. Supposedly I'll get a higher monthly credit to bring it back down to $15/mo.

OT, looks like band 12 is live near the schools here (it's in the middle of nowhere). Right now it's between 2G and nothing. AT&T fares no better, but Verizon works. Can't wait to see if the new phone will get much improved service.

Soooo for people on ATT Grandfathered family plan, I have 3 lines, T Mobile will be a batter deal it seems. ATT doesn't even offer unlimited talk and no tethering with the old grandfathered service. All it is with ATT is umlimited data with two year contract.

Do you have a good map that shows this? I found a fan site with outdated info.

I was reading that people with grandfathered
Plans were able to get unlimited talk added for free. There is a large thread in it. You might take a look and give them a call, you never know!

We honestly bailed because we were on att for ages, had unlimited, went with other plans since we needed minutes, now they're offering these services because of the FCC suit and not letting those that they "muscled" out back on.

No thank you. I was loyal, he'll I even defended them, but I don't need cell service enough to be taken advantage of and then told "too bad". I'd be lying if I didn't hit the occasional dead spot and see lte drop to 4g far more often than I did with ATT, but we are also paying $80 less per month, we have 250% of the data (plus unlimited music streaming), true rollover, etc.

Whats the data allowances? Bet they are Rubbish!!

Instead of betting on their data allowance as being rubbish, please go to their website and do a little research.

I currently pay $60 per month and get unlimited calling, texting and data in Canada, the US and Mexico. Speeds prior to 3GB are LTE; speeds after 3GB are much slower. Quite honestly I never make it to 3GB given WiFi. On top of that I use my phone as a Hotspot for my iPad.

Some people complain about coverage. I haven't had any issues in large metropolitan areas. I've had a few in rural areas. T-mobile is kicking butt here in the US.

I actually forgot about this. This is very new, too. Within the last month or so I think.

This is how I see this breaks down, for a 64GB iPhone 6S as an example:

Retail Cost: $750
Upfront cost: -$100
$4/month*18 months: -$72
Pay at end to keep it: -$164
-------------------------------
Difference: $414

So they are essentially paying you $414 for your trade-in iPhone 6. Not bad at all.

I see it as only giving you $270.00 for your phone.
If you don't trade a 6s in its
$19.00 x 18=342
with a trade $4/month*18 months: -$72
so 342-72=270.00
and that is not a good deal to me
