This is a very interesting comment because it can be interpreted in two ways.

"We" can be interpreted as being T-Mobile USA -- they are not going to get the iPhone 5 this year, but their competitors are.

"We" can be interpreted as the mobile phone industry! That means there will be no iPhone 5 released this year!

Someone needs to ask him to clarify.

You're exactly right. He may have spilled the beans on Apple only releasing the 4S this year with the 5 appearing next year. If we suddenly hear that T-Mobile USA will never be supported by Apple, we'll know for sure that the 5 will not arrive until next year.

Look, iPhone4 is freaking awesome. 4s + iOS 5 will make it even better. Not that big of a deal.

You're so right. Other than more pixels on the camers, and a little faster processor, what more could you want other than iOS 5 that would warrent a full bump to an iPhone 5?

I'd like a larger screen. 3.7-4" would make it perfect.

a new effing design. the 4 is nice to look at, but it doesn't feel very good.

and for the effing billionth time, why would anybody buy a "4S" type of device when the 4 will run everything perfectly and be at least $100 cheaper?

Is there a special time of the day (morning, noon, evening, ...) at which apple normally sends out invitations for a media event?

Wrong

the cheap plans are only for single lines. for family plans it's cheaper AT&T and Verizon

i pay $180 for a 4 line plan with 2 smartphones and 2 dumb phones. 4 line plan on t-mo is $279

I must be one of the few who just went to T-Mobile to save some money. We have a 4 line plan with 3 smartphones and 1 dumb phone and it's running us $170/mo for unlimited talk, text, and data (high speed data up to 2GB). $50/mo for the first two lines and $35/mo for the next two. Granted, we had to pay full price for our phones, but I got some great deals on ebay and Amazon to save some money.

Cuz its apple. :). ;)

Because the iPhone 4S will be $99 and the iPhone 5 will be $199?

They will be getting the 4S as the cheap model to keep more people from leaving.

They won't be getting the 5 as they might as well wait until they get bought by AT&T...

Wonder if they will still get the 3GS or 4 … or even the rumored 4S (all as budget phones)

Disappointing

I have been a T-mobile customer since 2003. That will change this October when the new iPhone comes out and I will be replacing a very old BlackBerry Pearl. Sorry T-mobile, I've waited long enough. :(

Typically during normal business hours, Pacific Time, on a weekday. Basically when the Apple PR team would be in their Cupertino offices.

The reason must be searched elsewhere. TM is not prepared to handle the already on going traffic for 3G, less with a couple of millions voracious iPhones more. They came late to 3G, and network development takes time to tune to provide the margin required to afford millions of iphoners insanely syncing with iCloud. It's a preventive, almost prophylactic move.

In my area, 3G is by far faster and more reliable on T-Mobile than on ATT. However, I am using HSPA+, which I dont believe will be on the next iPhone.

i was telling someone yesterday how i think this is a scam by apple and AT&T to drive t-mo's value down

at&t will pay a lower price if t-mo's value drops. and it will be easier to get the deal approved if subscribers flee and make sprint stronger.

apple wants 3 carriers instead of two. a stronger sprint is in apple's best interest.

if sprint and t-mo are gone with only verizon and at&t left then one of them can start to dictate pricing to apple. a stronger sprint means that consumers have more choice

you've got to be kidding me...why would Apple care? they want to sell as many phones as possible

That is IF there will be a new iPhone this October :D

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

I bet this has to do with the (soon to be) failed AT&T merger. They didn't devote resources to adding the iPhone when they assumed they would be merged with AT&T, who will certainly get the iPhone 5. Now they're caught with their pants down and may be the only large carrier left in the US without the iPhone.

Or it could be if the merger doesn't go through they plan to wind down US TM and sell off its assets to ATT.

For me T-mobile's pricing paired with the iPhone is a perfect union. So either drop prices elsewhere or get the iPhone at T-mobile. This is not good news!

Agreed on all those points. I love T-Mobile's lower monthly costs (and being a poor college student, I can use all the savings I can get).

If T-mo got iPhone, it would save them.
Betcha.

Most likely. That would be the device with the current prices that brings people to them (I just hope not too many people that it cripples their network like AT&T. One of the perks is not having the influx of people on my network).

Surely the very fact that this guy stated T-Mobile are not getting the iPhone 5 tends to confirm its existence, no?

I was thinking the same thing, but then I thought maybe he is just using "iPhone 5" to be a short version of "next generation iPhone". But as other people have said, maybe T-Mobile will be getting the lower cost version and not the all out iPhone 5. I have no idea what to make of this

T-Mobile was the first to go with HSPA+ and I've been using it for a while without issues. If the iPhone 5 supports T-Mobile frequencies and has HSPA+, then I will definitely get an unlocked one and use it on T-Mobile.

awww poor tmobile.. they are gonna become the new sprint..lol with a bunch of lame android cone phones..
