He tablet is coming too fast. I missed the days where it was still a myth and every rumor added exponentially to the hype. Now that it's coming pretty much in a day, there will be no more hopes and dreams :p

Agreed - Thursday is going to be like the day after Christmas. What the 'ell are we supposed to theorize about next? New iPod socks?

*sniff*

Why didn't I think of this??! The color theory makes perfect sense! Wow!

What do you guys think?? I mean, does this banner look "appley" to you? Or is there a reason for the weird color combination?

That was my first thought as well. It seems so obvious now.

When I first saw it, I thought "Apples and Oranges" because the Orange blob was very round and right behind the Apple logo. But it makes even more sense with the Orange circle being ATT and all the other bloblets being the new carriers.

We'll find out on Wednesday...

i'm with T-mobile and i came very close to getting a Google G1 a few weeks ago-- i like the keyboard and it's not small. (my hands are very fidgety...) An iPhone would also be very good. Gonna see if it's true and what the pricing is. Otherwise a G1 still looks appealing to me.

YUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!

G1??? They're still selling that brick?

I'm REALLY hoping that this happens.
ATT has ****** coverage in most places. Even though I live in the Bay Area, it's still crap. That's why I don't have it.
But if all these careers get the iPhone, I'm definitely going for it.

Apple is about to be LOADED with money if they pull this off.

random question. but im 21, looking for career ideas. what do you do in the bay area?

i bet the big announcement will be something like:

"after 7 years of developing we finally made it!"

(7 second silence)

I present u da new PowerBook g5 available TODAY! and on 7 different colors.

haha :apple:

seriously, i must admit i can't sleep with this wait.

Did you guys not read my whole thread? Obviously I want a smaller device but due to physical limitations, that would not me a wise choice for me. The mytouch is too small. even with a case. the iphone is not. I've used both. one can only hope this wednesday though.

I don't think this is plausible. Apple is a global company. Yes, the US market is important to Apple, but a major announcement would not solely focus on the US market and what additional carriers might get the iPhone.

It's much bigger than that. Also, the fact that Steve and Tim are speaking publicly about it in advance tells you it's major. Otherwise, they could be seen to be leading the market and manipulating the stock price with what they are saying.

It's real, the tablet's coming and it's gonna blow our socks off.

Oh yeah? Exactly what was it that Steve and Tim said publicly? I seem to have missed those comments.

The original iphone announcement was US Only and ATT. And they made quite a big deal about that.

im hoping att allows iphone users to have free data on the itablet.

this is ridiculous to have an itablet plan x iphone data plan

LOL, ATT will never be that nice, and if the multicarrier thing is true..I'm ditching ATT in July. It pisses me off so bad that I cant get signal on my iPhone where everyone else can.

I think I found the secret in the invite by assembling mirror images of the paint!

It's some kind of flying blue creature looking at us...

Oh, that was wonderful!

Why would I read a newspaper when one of countless websites will give me the news?

Same with magazines. Why even bother with magazines any more when websites offer so much more?

Thanks to being an iPhone/AT&T customer for the last couple of years, I've gotten more than used to making sure I have all of the content I want on my device before I go anywhere.

WiFi or no purchase. 3G makes no sense in this kind of product. Neither does making it a glorified eReader with iPhone OS.

I don't understand you. Why the heck wouldn't you want the internet on your tablet/laptop? Perhaps you'd like to use the INTERNET to browse those websites you speak of while on the train, in a parking lot, in your house, in the park, at your office (where wifi may be monitored and censored), on a plane, here or there, anywhere and any other of the 99% of the world that isn't covered by free wifi or isn't a starbucks.

I get 2.2MB/sec here on ATT 3G. That's DSL speed. I'd rather pay a few dollars to have that (and have it work everywhere) than have $50 month cable with a wireless router to buy and setup. Clear is that concept but wimax which is what, 4g?

Clear

That's good to hear that Clear is in line for the iPhone, that means 4G baby! That also means that Clearwire is going to step into the cellular (phone) arena, what does that mean for their partner and investor Sprint?

I wonder if iTunes will eventually be replaced or rebranded? Given that it is one of the few 32-bit applications on Snow Leopard, and that the name "iTunes" would become more of a misnomer as additional non-music features are added, it seems that launching a device such as the tablet would be a good time to update/replace/rebrand iTunes as well.

is their ANY phone that has been publicly released on ALL carriers? officially?

Yes. The Blackberry Curve.

It's made by a little-known company named RIM, which despite its inability to make a decent touch screen phone, still kind of has an itty-bitty tiny piece of market share... and also makes a phone that works CDMA or GSM (but how?!) called the Tour (or the 8830).

Yes, Appleheads, there is a phone that you can update Facebook on that works on all carriers.

Look at another pic

We are reading too much into just a splash of colors.

Agreed. I wonder how often Apple marketing people read these boards and just howl with laughter.

"Hey Frank! Let's put a duck on the next one so they think it'll be called an iQuack! HA!"

HTC releases a good number of its devices across all carriers as well.

Ive really got my fingers crossed that this is true, I have sprint because ATT has terrible coverage here, but Ive always wanted an iphone.

The Tour is the 9630, btw. Which is what I currently have. Good phone.

I'm more interested in how the poster/invite was created. It's not a stretch of imagination to believe it was created within a "brushes" type iPad app. I can see that a drawing/painting app could be a major selling point of a touch device. Is it possible that those beautiful splots of colour were rendered using more than touching the screen? My imagination leads me to think that just maybe a proximity sensor could allow you to "throw" paint at the screen? The wider implications are a control system for viewing video etc which does not obscure the screen with your fingers. This is consistent with the promised innovative control system. So, more analysis of that poster image, please, just to kill time, you understand :)

Sorry for the ambiguity, i meant the 8830 AND the Tour can work on GSM and CDMA (though the tour much more seamlessly from the sounds of it)

If the iPhone doesn't come to Verizon, the Tour is my next one.

Can't remember the last time i laughed like that!! I'm always wondering if they read these and laugh at the crazy things we all come up with.

By the way. i'm really hoping for a sprint iPhone. love my plans, love my HTC Hero, would love an iPhone even more.
