Canada has it!

I live in Michigan and I think that this announcement will be correct and all major us carriers will get the iphone. I remember being jealous about 4months ago because my GF got the iphone(she lives in canada) and I was thinking how unfair it was that a US company gave all of the major Canadian companies(rogers, telus, bell) the iphone.

I really hope all the news anchors claiming the tablet has never taken hold and never will are silenced by the technology and beauty of the new Apple creation.

I'm more interested in how the poster/invite was created. It's not a stretch of imagination to believe it was created within a "brushes" type iPad app. I can see that a drawing/painting app could be a major selling point of a touch device. Is it possible that those beautiful splots of colour were rendered using more than touching the screen? My imagination leads me to think that just maybe a proximity sensor could allow you to "throw" paint at the screen? The wider implications are a control system for viewing video etc which does not obscure the screen with your fingers. This is consistent with the promised innovative control system. So, more analysis of that poster image, please, just to kill time, you understand :)
Hey dopipod! That would be really neat that a screen senses your "throws", your motions, from a proximity distanced out enough to create splatters based on speed, distance, direction, etc. This seems possible with a Wii type device in the hand, but I doubt any screen would sense this type of motion from that distance without a separate remote device. Cool idea you imagined.

As for the splatters, you might already know this so excuse my post if you do, but it's really easy to create these effects with Adobe (or similar) software. But again, you might have already known that

what if it's not hardware...

This is about the time Apple announces the new iLife and iWork suites. Why does a new product have to be hardware? What if it's just a new drawing application?

Would you like to bet on that? Also, what about January 2007? That was when the original iPhone was announced. http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/09/the-apple-iphone/

Steve Jobs and Tim Cook read the news. They know what everyone is saying. They would not shoot their company in the foot by announcing an application after adding fuel to the fire today. If they did, that go down in business school as part of CEO failures.

I don't understand you. Why the heck wouldn't you want the internet on your tablet/laptop? Perhaps you'd like to use the INTERNET to browse those websites you speak of while on the train, in a parking lot, in your house, in the park, at your office (where wifi may be monitored and censored), on a plane, here or there, anywhere and any other of the 99% of the world that isn't covered by free wifi or isn't a starbucks.

I get 2.2MB/sec here on ATT 3G. That's DSL speed. I'd rather pay a few dollars to have that (and have it work everywhere) than have $50 month cable with a wireless router to buy and setup. Clear is that concept but wimax which is what, 4g?

Well, as I said before, I've been an AT&T customer since the beginning of the iPhone. Their coverage is the worst of any carrier I have ever used. So I definitely would NOT want to use anything on their service that I don't have to. I've only held out with the iPhone for so long because I'm hoping to see it on Verizon.

But, I have cable and WiFi at home. For $35 a month I'm getting 30Mbps down (and that price is guaranteed for the next year and a half, still cheaper than any mobile service afterwards). Thats faster than any mobile connection. And with AT&T's crappy coverage, it's faster for me to go home and look something up than it is to try and do it on my iPhone somewhere else.

But, the most important thing is that I don't want to have to pay a monthly fee to use this device. Why should I? I want the device without the monthly fee. I know I'm not the only one, considering that every poll so far has shown that the overwhelming majority of people polled will not buy the product if it has some sort of required monthly data plan.

AT&T's orange colour is still the largest and is also directly beneath the Apple logo... It's blue is also present elsewhere. Could this mean that AT&T are the still most important carrier, perhaps still have exclusivity to certain features/functions?

Sorry, I'm speculating as to the meaning of the color splashes. I'm in no way implying a tablet isn't coming out so chill. I think a cool multi-touch drawing application would be fantastic on a tablet.

I predict he will make a plea for Haiti donations. I guarantee it! At least I hope he'll do it. :D

I hope there's iPhones on all carriers and more iPod socks.

Im looking forward to this presentation, it should be interesting.

Although I wouldnt buy a tablet device as they are known now, they are awkward, and useless out and about to be honest..... but anyhow, its Steve Jobs' job to sell it to me and make me feel like I need one...

But as much as im looking forward to that, Im looking forward to seeing people moaning on here more..... I think a lot of the people need to come down to earth a bit with their expectations, because the way some people are acting, if Apples new device isnt like something out of Avatar, they are going to be dissapointed....

And even if it was a thin, clear glass panel with an amazing user interface, 2 cameras and free 3G for everyone, people will still say, "oh my god, finger print magnet!!! Apple are a joke!!! Bet the battery wont last!!!"

this for sure means cell phone functionality. maybe it is the iphone nano? ;)

this tablet must be an extension of the iphone brand and functionality scope.

Sorry. The guy upstairs woke me up while playing his guitar. :| I agree it would be cool to finally have something like MS paint, but better, for this tablet.

I think if the iphone goes to diffrent carriers.......the iphone will lose it's value.......

the iphone won't be an exclusive phone.......

instead it will become an everyday phone.

I wont' be surprised if at&t starts giving free iphone 3G's for 2 year contracts....now..

Don't worry, it's available on multiple networks in other countries and the world hasn't ended.

In the UK it's sold on 3 major networks and one supermarket virtual network. It's available on PAYG without a contract and on 12 month, 18 month and 24 month contracts.

And even the 32 3GS is free on the most expensive contracts. :D

And guess what, the iPhone is still selling like hotcakes.

OMG you guys!

Oh, wow! How could you get it so wrong? Look, here is the real answer!

Ooh. Soda-powered phone. Looks like they've stolen a march on Nokia then. :)

see our latest creation = a tablet you can paint or draw on

The creation part makes me think a user will be able to convincingly draw or paint on the iPad (now with wings!). The killer app i think would be able to do these with a paintbrush or pencil AND be able to apply meaningful pressure (for differences in brushstroke etc.)

Honestly if its a media browser (now with books!), or a giant iphone, i will be underwhelmed.

Since i can't advertise my blog, please google macprotouch if you are interested in some other ideas.
