Jeeez. I'm so sick of these 'competitive' companies. Makes me want to puke.
If Apple were to build a smart candy dispensing machine, no doubt Microsoft (aka small & limp), google and et al would line up and make their own version.
Use your imagination, get a life and stop copying others' improvements.

I still don't get why all these luxury watch companies have to take shots at Apple. I'm not aware of anyone at Apple trashing the traditional watch industry. In fact this is what Jony Ive told the Financial Times:
So why do the TAG's and Longines of the world feel the need to take swipes at Apple when Apple still shows great reverence for high end watches?
U-BOAT..... geez, while they have a certain look, not sure sure about the reliability.
Never owned one, but from the dealership where i bought a few watches the manager really recommended they be avoided. He said they got alot of issues with them.
Though, Like I said, just what he told me.
Dinosaurs trying to stay relevant...too little too late. Buh Bye!!!
I have no idea about their reliability, I just like the looks of it for a big, heavy, rugged looking man's watch. They are big.
They are not threatened because people who by their watches pay cash, not finance their watches(iPhones). It's because they are well and truly threatened.
In fact, Apple/Ive's respect and love for traditional watches is part of what scares them. Because of that, Apple might actually be able to complete, head-on, with luxury watch makers.

Watch makers are looking to expand & the introduction of a "geek" watch is a perfect time to engage the consumer with their offerings.
That you are correct . I do like the look of them. I guess I should do my research, instead of going on the opinion of a sales manager.
You are right: most of the Android powered devices are slow since the beginningTAG is more of a prestigious watchmaker than Apple.
IMO the Apple watch looks cheap and nasty, I'm sure TAG can make something more aesthetically desirable. Plus, and it's a big plus, Android devices don't slow down after 18-24 months thanks to an update...so I should imagine they'll be a more attractive longterm proposition. Phones? Laptops? Apple all the way, but watches are more of a jewellery thing and I'm sure that traditional watch wearers would prefer the Swiss take on things if they're going to jump aboard phone tech.
The Swiss are right to be worried. I've worn a Rolex for the last 10 years, but as soon as Apple's watch comes out, I will put my Rolex in the safe and try out an Apple Watch (not the Gold Edition, the stainless steel one). If the Apple Watch has new uses that go beyond telling time and I get used to them, I'm afraid I won't be able to wear the Rolex any more, as it will make me feel a little like now when I go out without a phone.
However, I'm not sure that having several luxury Swiss watch companies become Android compatible will help them much, on the contrary...
That's odd, Samsung, Motorola, etc already have been selling watches and the Apple watch still isn't for sale. Apple doesn't make a car. When did Apple become the big player in music streaming? I missed that one. Apple doesn't have a cable package at the moment and I haven't seen anyone copying that since it was reported 2 days ago.
Samsung is copying Apple Pay, but Google had it's version before Apple. Honestly, it looks like Apple takes other peoples ideas.
I think I'll do a bit of reading and see what the owners have to say. Have you ever tried one on?
So many interesting comments. All of a sudden some people are saying the AppleWatch is ugly, hideous, trashy-looking....hmmm. Most other threads people are saying great things about it and want one. Well I guess some are getting paid to state the negative. Nothing new.
You're right. Apple doesn't always invent something. But Apple Pay is a perfect example of how they took something that wasn't really working and made it work. There are many more.
Sadly nope. I should have, though settled for a Panerai, got suckered into the heritage behind it. That is what I love about the established brands.
Not a fan of small watches, unless they an vintage.
Now if this Tag is $3000 I would buy it over the apple iwatch rubbish. No flames but honestly, the only two products I love of apple is the iPhone and the iPad. Getting into the Apple world, I went all out and go the appletv and the mac book pro 17 with matt display only to realize that I just couldn't stand the mac book and the apple tv is a joke compared to the amazon firetv that allows kodi etc. anyways. this is the apple fan club and I'll find a lot of naysayers here !!
I'll raise you one 3rd generation shuffle, classic example of screwing up their own product![]()

Well, that's assuming you didn't consider the shuffle screwed up in concept. I did.
I owned one, and ended up using it as a thumb drive.
By no means do I think Apple is a watchmaker at all, never mind a prestigious one. I was simply saying TAG isn't high end.
I'm skeptical that any smartwatch will gain long term traction. I just don't want to wear a watch again after being free of it since the introduction of the smartphone.
However, if I were to be convinced to buy one--it wouldn't be the Apple Watch in its current form. I think its bulky and overpriced for what it does. If Tag can make a high functioning smartwatch that looks similar to its regular watches then that would be my choice.
