This will be good for Apple

These quality watchmakers getting into the "smart watch" game will only be good for the consumer and even for Apple.

I suspect that the Swiss watchmakers will actually have some good ideas, though I doubt they will execute them as well as Apple will.

I anticipate that Apple will counter with an even better v2, v3, v4, etc ...
In the end, the other watchmakers will not be able to keep up.

The Moto 360 is not for everyone. But saying it looks like garbage is beyond retarded. I use android for my phone and Apple for tablet. My wife bought me the Moto 360 as a gift and I was apprehensive about it at first (not for appearance but function). I can't even begin to tell you how many people have stopped to ask me about my watch. It happens all the time and every single one of them talks about how nice it looks. Plenty of those complimenting it are females and plenty are iphone users. Your opinion may differ and there is nothing wrong with that. But saying it looks like garbage to be inflammatory just makes any point you are trying to make seem worthless. If you would actually put a little thought and rationale into your opinions then they might be respected. I am continually amazed by how fanboys on both sides of the spectrum try to belittle others for their choices. Anyone with such an unhealthy allegiance to a corporation is to be pitied.
I saw it on pictures and I thought it was a nice product, maybe too big but nice.
I saw it in real life, tried it, and it resemble of a cheap Chinese phone.
Sorry.

What if their phone isn't an iPhone? It's pretty pointless to wait until the Apple Watch comes out if you own an Android or Windows phone.

It's pretty pointless to talk about the Apple Watch if you don't own an iPhone either - but that's pretty common here.

No need for an apology. It's an opinion. I wholeheartedly disagree with it but it's why we see many different types of products in the market. Not everyone wants the same thing. Although plenty of people on here think everyone should.

Remember, this is also TAG Heuer. FAR from a high-end anything in the watch world. Aside from a model or two that still have ties to their heritage that used to make them desirable watches, they have been insignificant for years. More or less just fashion watches for Maybe a decade or three now. Not sought after watches by "watch nuts" in any way, shape, or form. They have to grasp at straws to stay relevant. This is not an indicator that the "high end Swiss watch" world is panic reacting to the Apple Watch. When you see movement in AP, PP, Rolex/Tudor, Panerai, then you'll know the "high end" Swiss watch world views it as a threat.

This........

Well I did agree with one of your posts earlier and made a point of it in my reply. Maybe I shouldn't agree with everything that I find that are fair points. ;)

Also you're taking my post out of context. It's not just posts with opinions that aren't favorable, it's the posts that on some level appear as trolling. Come on man, some are saying it's Ugly, Trashy, Crap. But it's okay though, see I'm not interested in buying this watch because it's not for me, but I don't see any reason in trashing it as others do.

We have agreed and disagreed on many posts. Hopefully we will continue to do both. I am not a fan of echo chambers. That's why I come to MR instead of places like appleinsider and macworld.

Ugly, trashy, and crap. Strong words I'll agree. I tend to view them as hyperbolic as well. Those are words used on both sides of the fan fence. Find almost any thread with Samsung, MS, Android, or any Apple competitor and you see the exact same type of terminology being tossed about those company's products. It's a perpetual motion machine of low brow commentary coming from both sides. Whadda ya gonna do? At the end of the day, people have opinions. How they express them is their prerogative.
Does it make them trolls? I choose to think not, but that's just my opinion.

Yes. TAG. The mall watch/fashion watch. It's amusing at how people assume a $1000-$3000 watch is a "high end" watch. Heuer was the company that was highly regarded company with true watchmaking heritage. The TAG acquisition in the mid-80s is when the company went downhill and lost all its luster with true watch fans. Only the Monaco and Carrera models hold any significance with watch enthusiasts, and even then all modern ones have the TAG on the dial to dampen that.

Well that may be right but that's a bit subjective don't you think? I still regard them as high end. I absolutely love tag. You seem like you know yyour watches though. I'm saving up for the grand carrera. What would you advise for 3000 sports chrono?

Dude. Buy what you like. If it's the Grand Carrera so be it. Opinions are like butts, everybody's got one. If you're really looking for advice on a watch purchase, this forum isn't the best place to find it. You're asking someone to render a subjective opinion based on what they like. You are the best judge of what you want. Not me, not chris, nor anyone else.

How about a U-Boat Flight Deck?

monkey see, monkey do

it's just funny, and kinda sad, how theres no innovation outside of Apple. It's just copy Apple while bashing them. the world knows who microsoft, google, samsung, and all the rest take their marching orders from.

(insert name here)Pay, (insert name here)Watch, (insert name here)Car, (insert name here)Store Layout, (insert name here)Streaming Device, (insert name here) Alternative Cable Package, (insert name here)Streaming Music and on and on...

That's odd, Samsung, Motorola, etc already have been selling watches and the Apple watch still isn't for sale. Apple doesn't make a car. When did Apple become the big player in music streaming? I missed that one. Apple doesn't have a cable package at the moment and I haven't seen anyone copying that since it was reported 2 days ago.

Samsung is copying Apple Pay, but Google had it's version before Apple. Honestly, it looks like Apple takes other peoples ideas.

U-BOAT..... geez, while they have a certain look, not sure sure about the reliability.

Never owned one, but from the dealership where i bought a few watches the manager really recommended they be avoided. He said they got alot of issues with them.

Though, Like I said, just what he told me.

Kinda like the iOS update that bricked iPhones

No, actually. Nothing like that. Because the iOS update that "bricked" iPhones was pulled within an hour, and fixed within a few days. And Apple quickly posted a guide to fix your phone.

When an Android update breaks major functionality you're expected to fend for yourself until someone deems it worthy of a fix.

I think "fail". Tag and other high end watch makers are good at what they do now. Smart Watches are a mini-computer and that is not their expertise. Nice, precision mechanical watches with some brains is their cup of tea.

I really think this is a mistake for them, but they may have no choice either. If people still wear watches in 10 years, I'm guessing they will be smart watches and the older mechanical ones will be for the collectors and watch enthusiasts.

So, it's a join the crowd and hope you make it or die scenario.

What's incredible is that if this watch is competative, it took three companies to match Apple's product.

A chipmaker, a software and services company, a watch maker. Apple does all three whilee also making an OS that rivals Windows and hardware that rivals Lenovo, Dell and others, and a phone + ecosystem that rivals Android and the Play store.

So if Tag does something decent who would buy an LG or Huewai wmartwatch?

That's a good question. I suppose price-point and potential TAG exclusive features will be a part of that equation.

I'm not keen on any smartwatch, I'm a fan of mechanical timepieces. Time will tell if my tune changes.

It will be a great watch, I highly doubt it will be much competition though. At least by itself. If you combine the sales of every single watch maker and pit them against apple, like has been known to be done, Apple will probably lose lol.
