I'm curious myself. Why would Apple announce it but not have an official release date? Why not wait to announce it when everything it ready? I really want the new Apple TV but am getting anxious waiting.

Well Amazon will stop selling the ATV on October 29th. So that's probably a good bet when the ATV will be released

Wouldn't surprise me if they don't open up orders until the last day or two of October, 29 or 30.
But units won't ship/arrive at your house until mid November. 12-18th or so.

I think the store will go down next week and when it comes back up we will see the 4K iMac and Apple TV/iPad Pro preorders go live. Possibly new Magic Mouse and keyboard thrown in there too for good measure. And iOS 9.1.

I do not think there will be preorders. Like others have said, the 29th/30th sounds right. Late October means the last few days...if not early November.

There was a previous thread discussing the same topic and the Mods combined them. That was the initial post from the other discussion.

Ah gotcha. It seemed so out of place. Anyway I am hoping it's released within the next couple of weeks. I imagine they want to fix any tvOS bugs before it's released...or as many as possible.

I haven't been able to use the remote app or my Apple Watch with any of my 3 ATV2's since sometime this summer. I hope it's because they are working hard to get the ATV4 working properly.

It threw me too until I saw my post to the other thread directly below it and figured out what they had done.

In regard to your remote issues it seems odd that they would remove functionality. I could see them not adding it, but if it worked before I would think it should still work now. I don't know enough about how the remote app or Apple Watch operate to add anything of value, but I have had issues with the app that were being caused by differences in home sharing and my local network. Might be something to check, if you haven't already.

Funny I got it fixed last night. It was totally my fault, but I never looked into it because it happened about the same time I received an update and thought the update broke it.

I have a Cisco Small Business router and over the summer I set up a guest SSID and at that time I must have checked the box on my main network to isolate traffic on that network. As soon as I saw it on my main SSID I knew I messed up. Not sure why I checked that box but I unchecked it and it started working.

According to 9to5 Mac, orders for Apple TV and iPad Pro will start online at the end of October but not deliver/show up in stores until first week of November. Not sure this is "news," but it's something

You would think the 'Available in Late October' means you'd get them then. Hopefully it's a little wrong and we'll get the Apple tv in October.

Certainly sounds right...

"The revamped Apple TV set top box and iPad Pro will both begin showing up in Apple Retail Stores for sale during the first week of November after going on sale via Apple’s website in late October, according to reliable sources. It is also likely that the first online orders of both products will reach customers in early November."

I'm ok waiting a bit longer if it means develops have a bit more time to polish their apps.

I think one thing is certain - it must be ready and widely available well before Black Friday if Apple has any hope of capturing market share away from Roku or Amazon.

"reports 9to5Mac. Sources tell the site that the new set-top box won't be hitting Apple stores until next month, and while it may still pop up for online orders later this month, online shoppers will probably have to wait until November to receive it, as well. "
