Picture of the 5 64GB that are in stock, or you are a flat-out liar.

Easy tiger.

I didn't buy one, I'm not interested in the mini right now, I'm not bragging as I didn't buy one, and I would suggest to anyone who wants one to call ahead to make sure they're in stock anyway.

The sales associate told me he had 5 in stock and I saw 2 on the shelf.

Sheesh...

Sooo I went to best buy and told them about the target ad. They looked it up, saw it says ANY iPad, showed it to a manager and honored the same deal. The manager instructed the girl to ring my iPad mini up with a $40 discount, and then charge me for buying a $40 gift card (since supposedly they can't just put money on a card for something other than a return). Here's my receipt for proof.
Earlier this week apple gave me a free mini cover to match the same target deal. Good thing the purchases aren't linked! I'm returning the mini I ordered from apple and keeping the case! Lucky me! Or should I feel bad for taking advantage?

Been looking further in to this since I got home. I found out since they technically charged me like I purchased a gift card separately, and the gc's have the same 30 day return policy as everything else, I should be able to just get the money credited right back. So I hope! I'll find out tomorrow :D

Best Buy matched the Target deal

Same here (El Centro, CA), Jordan, the Best Buy sales guy helping me to get a discount on a 4th gen iPad, really did a great job convincing his manager about matching the Target deal, the manager wasn't too keen to honor it and said no a couple of times, then Jordan show her the Target webpage and she finally accepted :)

They gave me a $50 giftcard which I used to buy an Apple Smart Case :D Great service from a sales guy thinking first on the customer and I saved almost $50 bucks!

You're on a roll. Wouldn't be surprised if you succeed.

I tried twice wednesday but I wasn't successful (both guys were nice but they said they could not give me a free smart case with the order of an iPad 4).
Then I tried again thursday afternoon , and it worked. A woman answered and put me on hold . Then I talked to another woman from the customer service, and she said yes: with the order of an iPad 4 she would have given a free smart case .
So I placed the order for a white 32 gb wifi and I got a free red smart case :)

I just picked up a 32GB Black iPad 4 from my local Target to replace my iPad 2 - got the $40 GC and 5% off with my Target Visa.
I asked a Sales Associate who was doing an Apple inventory check for the particular model - she pulls it off the shelf (marked $599.99) and I look on the back - it's a 3rd gen. I explain the difference to her and she finds the right box in the display.
Given that Target has not marked down their remaining 3rd gen stock, I can see a number of annoyed customers, as doubtless many of the Target staff don't know the difference - and the customers may not find out until it's too late (although Target has a very generous 90 day return policy).

Just as I thought, I was able to return the bb $40 gift card they made me buy and got the credit back to my Amex. Ended up keeping that extra mini I bought from bb.

As for the other mini and the 4th gen I ordered from apple, which I got a free case each for, I went to the apple store today and they price matched it for me too. Double dipped! :D
It's not like they knew y my cases on the same order were at $0.00

One lucky person buying a 4th gen next to me heard the whole conversation and was able to get the $40 apple gift card too.

In total, thanks to the OP, i saved 39.99 for the free mini cover, 49.99 for the free smart case, $40 gift card from apple for the mini which I used towards the 4th gen, $40 from apple from the 4th gen purchase, and then $40 from bb from the second mini. OVER $200! Now I feel I really took advantage but oh well hate me if u will...

So I am kind of bummed. Only place I could find a iPad Mini (16gb white) actually was Target. They had a sign though saying the "$40 off any iPad, does not apply to the mini". I tried to argue with them about it, but the manager wouldn't budge.

Following the thread similar to this on a deal website, everyone is running into the same issue.

Just called Apple even though im a few days late. I told them my friend told me about the Target deal and he had called Apple and got a free smart cover case out of the deal. The rep told me he had no idea what I was talking about, but he would transfer me to a senior rep.

I explained the same story to the senior rep and he put me on hold. He came back a few moments later and explained they dont do any kind of matching, but he would make a one-time exception! I asked him if I could choose my color and chose the Dark Grey. He said it would be delivered tomorrow or Wednesday. It was a flawless transaction and was completed in under 14 minutes.

I also am a salesman for my profession and smoothed talked my best.

What blatant abuse of the system. You should be ashamed of yourself, as you're no better than some low-life thief. Scum.

I think its genius. Its not like Apple is starving here closing in on a trillion dollars. Business is business and Noisemaker simply asked for it and he received it. They could have always said no.

After the gc and 5% off I got the iPad 4 for $470. Sold my 3rd gen iPad for $400. I can live with that, thanks OP!

I wouldn't have made the same choices but scum is harsh. I doubt he's some rich fat cat, he's prob a college student just trying to afford his iPad.

Pretty sure Best Buy does not have a trillion dollars, and it's the one who ate the $80 on that one.

Who the victim is doesn't change right from wrong. It's one thing to get a deal. It's another to scam the system to steal.

I never stated Best Buy was a trillion dollar company. You're warping my words into your own argument. I guess you could say that for every price match Best Buy does then. Point failed.

P.S. He stated he received ONE $40 gift card from Best Buy.

Can I go back and tell Best Buy to give me $40 back if I already bought the 4 a week ago?

I was going to do the same. I believe this Target deal ended on 11/3. But there is a $60.00 gift card that will start on Black Friday. We are both within the 30 days return windows so come Black Friday I am going to go and do a price match on the $60.00

Not to be a jerk, but the Best Buys around here wouldn't honor the gift card that Target was offering in the time span that it was active. I tried at three different locations and they said that part of their price match policy was NOT to do the in store gift card receipt. I'm thinking about returning it and just going to Target.
