What if it says online they have one, but you call and they say they don't...

Where can I find out the DCPI #'s for the iPad 2's and do ALL Targets have this device or just certain ones?

see page 8 of this thread for the info, about 2/3rd of the way down. and although all targets will carry the device, very few have them in stock at the moment. it's hit or miss (mostly miss).

Ahh gotcha, was wondering if those numbers were the DCPI. But thanks for confirming. :)

Mountain View, CA Target shows Black 32 GB Wifis in stock. I went and they said they weren't in stock. They ran up the dcpi number and it showed out of stock. The website seems accurate for most people, but just wasn't up to date in my area.

you saved me a trip to mountain view =)

ah ha! now showing 32gb black wifi as available at four of my local stores. 64gb white wifi available at one and limited availability at two. off to target i will go @ 8am!

Seriously disappointed.

I am literally shocked at how poor the customer service was at Target so far... I have been checking the DCPI numbers to see when the local targets get a shipment of ipads... Well quite a few got some last night. I called, and since they had just closed the woman said she couldn't have anyone look for me.... Could I call back at 8am? No, I will be lining up at Apple at 6 if you do not have any in stock. Would there be someone at 6am in the store who can just double check the stock? "Yes sir, there will be someone in who could help."

Well, I called this morning, and the first woman said she was a "manager" but couldn't go look.
"We didnt get any in when I left at 6pm yesterday, so we dont have any".

"Well I checked your system and they showed up last night around 10pm, so could you have someone check?"

"You can call back when we open the doors"

"that will be too late for me, can you not just have someone check the stock?"

"Sir, we dont have the system set up yet, it is reloading"

"im not talking about the checking electronically, i did that myself. Im asking you to go in the back and see."

"they wouldn't be back there. you can call later. *CLICK*

WOW i was already pissed. She was obviously giving me the run-around and was being lazy as all get out! AS A MANAGER!

So I called another store, same story. Except he just stopped talking and said "i cannot give out any store information at all before we open the doors".

And I said, "well you aren't volunteering your time, Target is paying you to be there, and to answer the phones apparently, but you can't answer simple questions for customers?"

"no sir, that is the target policy".

What a bunch of.... app holes.

Seriously.

I actually looked in the Target app and on their regular site and there is absolutely no mention of iPad 2. I'm not sure if there was before, and due to high demand/no inventory they've decided to remove it altogether from their sites? Either way, I'd double-check with them before driving to these locations, to make sure it's the iPad 2. I'm thinking that the available ones you're seeing are for the first generation.

no, its the new one. there are links a couple pages back on this thread.

Yeah, I'm in Orlando. I checked the links on Page 8, for the black wifi 16 or 32 only, though. Those links are to their mobile site, which is the same thing that the app uses. And even the main site makes no mention of iPad2. The only ones listed are the discounted ones. You sure those links on page 8 are correct?

the links were made manually.

/also - people have said they've been accurate (although also sometimes not). being that the ones by me went from out of stock to available overnight, i think it's likely they'll be there. we'll see.

Well, only one way to know for sure: going out there and seeing for yourself. Best of luck to you, though. Let me know how it goes for ya.

Wow - the nerve of them not following your demands 2 hours before the store even opens. I'm sure they were just sitting around with nothing to do other than run around the store looking for your toy. Target should be ashamed of themselves. Maybe they should fire these people - would that make you happy.

at one that showed 32gb black and 64gb white as 'available', they at first said they had none at all and then said they had one of each of the two. you'd think that would make it limited availability, but who knows. didn't need to buy several, so didn't try too hard to find out if there were actually any additional.

Just got mine in northern Cincy

For anyone living in the Mason/Maineville/Lebanon area, both the Fields Ertel and South Lebanon Targets had availability this morning. I was the first one in the store and got a black 32GB wi fi. I believe they had two others in white but not sure as I had to bolt out of there to work.

I used the inventory tracker link from this thread to find it so thank you!!

BULLCRAP!

I went to Target after they showed IN STOCK on the tracker, and they said they never got a shipment. WTF.

Lots of different models showing up available at various stores right now in Minneapolis. If I didn't have an appointment at 8:30, I'd be tempted to go find one.

I think the tip to check in the morning before they open is a good one.

Yeah, I'm seeing "available" for SEVERAL stores here in Orlando FL, and I've called each of them and they're all saying that the "new" iPad is not in stock, just the old ones. I'm going to head out to the one that's 3.5 miles from me and see for myself.

Go in and see for yourself. I snagged a 32G this morning.

Ok, here's the scoop, I used the tracker on Page 8 of this thread to check stock status in my area (thanks to the two OPs of the tracker!) Checked last night, and they were all out of stock. Checked first thing this morning before I went in to work, and it showed as available!

I hightailed it to the Target and got there right before doors opened at 8 a.m. -- nobody else was waiting. Walked to the electronics department and told the first person I saw that I was there to pick up a Black 32GB iPad 2 Wifi. She swore up and down that there weren't any available, but I persisted and said "I checked the online stock, it said available, lets just go look at where they are kept, just to make sure" (It was a display case in an aisle.) So we get to the aisle and there's a stocker replenishing the Smart Covers. The lady goes "We don't have any iPad 2s do we?" and the stocker goes "We have 5 of them."

The lady apologized to me, and I was on my merry way. Thanks to this thread, I don't have to wait WEEKS!

I wouldn't trust what someone says on the phone, since the iPad 2 box does NOT say iPad 2. It just has a picture of the slimmer iPad at an angle, whereas the original iPad box has a picture of the iPad's home screen.

Moral of the story is, make the trip out there and be persistent if it says in-stock. Don't even bother calling.

Just a tip, when I placed my call to inquire about availability that I gleaned off the inventory tracker, I said "I'd like to check on the availability of a particular DCPI# that was lasted as in stock online... blah blah blah," instead of "Do you have iPad 2s? The website says you do."

In my experience if you ask them point blank about iPad 2's they are more likely to tell you they don't have any, maybe because they just figure they are sold out and don't wanna check. But if you have them look up the product by the number they might surprise themselves to find iPads in stock. Just my two cents; worked for me.
