I saw some availability on 32GB Wi-Fi models at some of the stores near me but no ATT 3G models at all.

So I'm still waiting. At least I have something to check in between checks of my Apple shipping status (which is still not shipped).

SUCCESS! I, and two other fine gentlemen got ours at the Redondo Beach, CA location right at opening this morning.

Note: Even though the DPCI checker showed "Available" (not just "Limited Availability") for the black, wifi-only 32GB model, the electronics clerk didn't know that any were available.

One of the other guys there with me this morning had to physically spot the boxes for iPad 2 and let her know to open up the locked case to check.

Before we were able to purchase, another clerk had to come and scan the different models. Presumably to enter into the local inventory?

Just a note if anyone is going to check out their local Target stores right when they open.

This info was brilliant - I tried the Batavia store this morning, but despite showing them the DCPI, etc. they maintained they did not have any. I probably should have been more forceful!

I gave that info to a buddy who went over there as well and got the same info. In fact, they said they looked for it when you came in, but didn't have it. I'm wondering if someone set it aside for a friend.

Most certainly did not look for it, at least while I was still there - all 3 electronics employees assured me that they hadn't received a single iPad since the launch. They may have looked after I was there.

I'd suggest going when a new shift is working.

Be careful with some of these stock notices.......I called one store, and the storemanager (friend of my dad) said they had only received in 5 since launch and those were gone and the site still indicated they had them so he didn't know why it didn't update. But......most seem to be accurate which is good.

A big thanks to those who dug this look-up out.....wish others had this.

I checked the inventory for my local Target this morning and it showed they had the model I wanted in stock. Since they are only 5 minutes from my office I ran right over and they said they had none. I showed them the inventory page that they had the model in stock and we looked all over and did not find 1 IPAD 2. They said they had not sold any in the past few days so the inventory must not be updated frequently at all stores. Bummer as my Ipad 2 is still NOT YET SHIPPED!

Same story I got exactly. Said they got 5 on launch day. The employee promised me they didn't have any but said he would check as a courtesy. He came back 5 minutes later with 5 boxes of iPad2s, which matched what I had found checking the #s. He was shocked they had any and didn't know why they weren't on the floor.

Their inventory system is spot on. The iPad2s are sitting in the stockroom somewhere and haven't been put out. If the system says they are in stock then they ARE in the store. That doesn't mean they are out for display or stocked yet.

I checked the online stock on a few different models around 10am pacific. Located 2-32gb blk wifi about 30 minutes away. Called and the person that answered said they had none. Took a gamble and drove there...glad I did...posting this from my new iPad 2. And I didn't show up till almost 11!
They had one more 32gb blk and a 64gb white...both wifi.
Murrieta, ca, just in case they still have them.

I tried three Target locations today that came back "available" for the 32 GB wifi only model I was looking for. One - "we sold our last three ten minutes ago to one guy", Two - "I just sold the last one", Three - "we don't have any". One person said they get shipments in each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 4 am, so try again tomorrow after 6 am.

I'm starting to get pretty fed up with this whole thing.

Don't trust their word. Go to the price scanner/stock checker at the end cap yourself and enter the DCPI number. It will say if it's in stock in the store room. I did this at the store I went to where they insisted they were out of stocks. 4 minutes later dude came back with iPad in hand.

Thanks to this thread, I just got home with an iPad 2. For others in Colorado Springs, The target had another 32gb wifi black, and two 64gb verizon white models. Thanks again for posting this information. Good luck to the rest of you folks.

Accuracy?

Any updates on how accurate these links are to store inventory? I'm unable to go tonight, but I called the one store in my area that said they had a 32GB black wi-fi available and the guy in electronics said they were sold out:confused:... unfortunately I can't find out for myself... I apologize if this is repetitive, just looking for updates!

I will try that next time. After I arrived at each store and had no luck, I refreshed the Target stock search page and it had changed from "available" to "out of stock".

I had the same experience today. I called a couple times and they kept flat out telling me no, even though the online inventory says yes. So I just went in. I checked on one of the scanner thing in the aisles using the the DCPI number provided in this thread, and it said in stock. I found a nice gentlemen in electronics who I again asked if they had any in stock. He of course said no. I asked him if he would check on his handheld inventory gun. When he finally did this for me, I got a "huh". He walked into the back and returned several minutes later with 5 of them. 2 64GB white and 3 32GB black. He says "Thanks for showing me these were in stock", and "Lucky you, I could have sold those all morning but kept telling people we didn't have them"

I guess what I'm saying is go in no matter what they say on the phone. They may not actually know they are in stock. Check for yourself on the aisle scanner.

Thanks to all of the info in this thread I now have a white 64GB.

This was in Ann Arbor, MI.

Boom! It works! Just decided to look at this thread this afternoon and I'm glad I did. Found a 32GB black wifi about 50 miles away and snagged it. I'm going to hold off opening it until after I check inventory tonight/tomorrow morning since I really want a 32GB in white. Thanks for the links! This is much better than standing in line or making continuous phone calls!

Made a call to a Target in Sterling Heights, MI. Online it said they have some in stock. I have called two different people there and asked, both said no. Gave Dcpi number and still got nothing. He said they haven't received even one including the launch day... If anyone in Metro Detroit knows of a 32gb wifi in black, let me know :D

Target in SoCal

I used the Target Inventory link posted originally by Furcalchick and was able to locate iPad 2's in stock at the Target in Camarillo, CA. When I got to the store I was staring at a white 32g ATT model in the display case and asked a Target associate for help who proceeded to inform me they were sold out and walked away. Not willing to take no for an answer, I found another associate who said they did in fact have some and asked me which model I wanted! He had a stash hidden away in a drawer in electronics. I got the black 64g WiFi model. Can't wait to get home and fire it up. Thanks to all the posters in this thread for the help!!!

I just sent my wife to that store (it's only a few minutes away from our house and I'm at work). I guess it went to being none available after you purchased but it's back to limited now. Waiting for her to call in case I need to give model number or anything. I have fingers crossed ... also the store in Dumfries VA has an Available listing for anyone in NoVa that is searching.

Chris

FYI ... they still have a white 64GB WiFi in the case if anyone is near Fredericksburg.

EDIT: Did anyone figure out what it means when the store in the checker is red? I see some in my checks ... out of stock but red.

Chris
