Stopped by electronics section while picking up some coffee for the wife this afternoon. Of course, they had the 1st gen iPads available at the $100 markdown price, but I was surprised to find the new models on the same shelf. Black only (at my rural walmart.) I didn't check to see all the models available, but they definitely had the 16 and 32g in both Wifi and 3G varieties. They may have had more. They only had a few out. Sorry, I didn't count them.

I asked to buy one. The nice lady behind the electronics counter opened the case, pulled the 16gWifi out for me, and began to ring me up. I was really excited. BUT, the system notified her that she couldn't sell them yet. She (mis)informed me that if I came back after midnight tonight I could get one. We'll see.

Sorry u were correct

Anyone have the DCPI for the 64GB Black AT&T?

BTW, courtesy of Fatwallet.com:

How to make the Target DPCI checker work:
Go to: http://sites.target.com/site/en/spot/mobile_fiats.jsp?title=fiats&asin=&dpci=001-01-0011&storeNumber
Take out the "001-01-0011" section in the address bar and add in your own DPCI with dashes
While in the address bar, press Enter so it registers that you've changed the address
On the website, type in your Zip Code and click "Go"
Do this for any DPCI that you have and enjoy!!
No ASIN required!

This was working for me before, not sure why it isn't now :(

just got off with my local target electronics guy, very friendly i must say.

he said they haven't gotten any yet but are supposed to get it tonight/tomorrow early morning, so to call back around 10 a.m. to see how many they have. he expects to get quite a bit, but wasn't sure of exact numbers and he said i was about the 5th person he talked to about it (i think this week) and he said his employees talked to about 6 recently too (not sure of the timeframe).

so he said they're preparing for it to be big, but he's not sure at all how many will come for it. he said many will call through the day, or just come in early. and i guess it'll be first come first serve, they're under strict instructions not to sell before 5, which we knew.

so i'm going to call them around 10:30 or 11 a.m. tomorrow, see what the deal is, then i'll probably go in there around 3 p.m. and wait it out. it makes me feel a lot better that he said they expect to get a good number of them in tomorrow (and the low number of people calling, that doesn't seem like that many), so i hope i won't have to worry about getting the one i want.

Why would you buy and IPad 2 at any other place but Target?

Buying the IPAD 2 is best at Target, assuming they have inventory of the type/flavor you want: Let me see it because:

1) Pay with Red Card and get an automatic 5% discount-where else are they offering discounts

2) You can return it within 90 days with no questions asked (Apple and Walmart only offer 14 days)

3) No restocking fee like Apple of 15%

4) Reasonably priced covers and accessories

5) Can even have a Starbucks latte while or after shopping

Seems like a no brainer to me??:)

i'm gonna go there, walk around chill, wait in line, play with my ipod touch and enjoy the countdown to ipad. 2!

haha i downloaded a coundown app on my ipod touch and have been checking it lately, counting down the hours/mins. all that. haha so nerdy.

Didn't work for me.

They have restocking fees on other electronics.... did someone tell you the pad was exempt?

I got mine the day after Christmas and just returned it to get the Ipad 2, with no restocking fee and no questions asked!

I haven't checked with my local Target at all but I am expecting that I should be able to snag one tomorrow night. Thankfully my store closes at 11 so I can stop by around 10 when I get out of work and hopefully I get lucky. I shop there usually once a week and they are always full of iPad 1's ever since they started selling them so I doubt they sell many in the first place.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_6 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8E200 Safari/6533.18.5)

I get off work at 5 and I hope I can just show up and grab a 16gb wifi.

i'm hoping that everyone lines up at the apple store at the local mall, which is exactly in between two super target stores; four miles north or south the major artery road is a super target. there's also a best buy, wal-mart and att store on the artery road, all closer to the mall than the targets. that way i walk in at about 4:40-ish, wait, and pick up my ipad sometime right after 5 pm. although i'll be calling the two stores at around 4 pm to make sure they have my model in stock at all, otherwise, i'll wait until they do get it in stock.

i'm getting it at target because i know a target employee. 10% off, which beats amazon's or any other tax-free offers.

you get 90 days no questions asked. I mean it cant be beat up and you expect to get a new one. I think they said it has to be in new unused condition.

just called 2 local targets to me and both seems to have said they got about 10 TOTAL and dont know the break down

Just checked Target in Richmond VA. They said they won't know quantities until they open the pallet, at 4:30. That's when they quickly scan them into their system.

Springfield, VA store has one small box of them. Employee was not sure how many was in the box. Guessing 5-10.

I was told that my Target will get all the Wifi models except the 16gig white. They are doing a ticket system at 5 for sale at 6. I have no idea why.

i called my two targets and both only have the 64 GB wifi black versions. so disappointing, they were my plan 1.

called the 2 walmarts local, the first didn't know when they'd get a shipment of them. the 2nd had no idea what they had, only the manager could check but he wouldn't say for some reason? odd. i asked him "well how am i supposed to know to choose your store for the one i want?" he said, well that's a risk you'd have to take. so lame.

so my local best buy has the model i want, 32GB wifi black, and said no one is there waiting now and she hadn't heard from many people calling about it. she suggested to get there around 4 to get a ticket and then buy it at 5. so i think i'm gonna head over to that best buy around 2:30 or so and wait around til 4, get a ticket then buy it at 5.

my plans got totally flipped!
