Let me know. I will ask my buddy tomorrow how it works. I wanted to do NEXT but Ill do whatever so I can get the phone.

I spoke with my Target Mobile kiosk today and confirmed that that particular one will be able to do Next upgrades (assuming you are already eligible)

However, this feature she said is literally being installed tonight in expectation of the iphone release. So, my particular store is upgrading their systems tonight and are fully expecting to be able to do NEXT upgrades.

Also, to confirm, I asked about hold times. They will hold for up to 48 hours if they don't hear from you. If you contact them and request a few extra hours, they will probably help you out.

Surfer, what did your buddy say?

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!

HE said they got them in today,They are locked in the security office. They are just waiting for the email for them to check in the phones. He also said they are expecting at least two more shipments this week ahead of launch. Target came through!!

No kidding. They don't know what they got though. It's sealed with black wrap and they can't break it until corprate sends an email to tell them OK. He said expect the emails to go out late tonight or Tommrow.

I assume if your local store got them, then they would be shipped out nationally to all the other stores? My mobile associate was being discrete and wouldn't allude to any quantities or guarantees that phones will be available by the 19th. He estimated that there were about 20 others that preordered ahead of me and that they aren't all necessarily the same carriers and models, to which I agree with. I got a 6 Plus 64gb in Space Gray, so I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to pick up within a few days, if not the actual launch date.

I'm with ATT and I initially pre-ordered around 2am pacific time Friday morning, unfortunately my bank had flagged the transaction, so it never processed until about 10am later in the day. Ended up seeing my shipout date get pushed back to mid-November, so I canceled my order with ATT and took a gamble by going through with Target...but sounds a lot more promising that I'll get my Plus before Thanksgiving!

Any other updates at this point?

Will Target pre-order your phone if you are not eligible for an upgrade??

They'll check to see if you are eligible for your upgrade, but I don't believe that they sell phones without some sort of contract. I imagine that they will sell you the phone with Verizon Edge or AT&T Next, though.

And as I mentioned before, Target has evidently pre-ordered through their entire first shipment.

QUICK UPDATE:

Here's what I know for fact right now:
My local target does in fact have a "bunch" of phones they got in this morning on their regular truck. The boxes are wrapped in black wrapping with a sticker that tells them not to open the boxes until they receive an email from corporate allowing them to do so. As of right now they don't know if the pre orders are in the box but there only assuming so as they have so many phones.

They are NOT in the stores inventory at the moment. As soon as they get the ok from corporate they will start checking them in. As far as how the emails are generated they don't know if they will have to generate the emails themselves or if the computers will do it automatically.

As soon as you get your email call the store immediately to schedule your appointment to pick up your phone. Schedule about 1 hour out of your time for your appointment, when you get there they will get your phone and help set it up and activate it. Do NOT forget to bring your receipt and your DL,THEY WILL NOT GIVE YOU THE PHONE WITHOUT THESE.

ATT users:Now remember if your doing a cross upgrade target will have to call ATT,expect long wait times for this.

Surfer. Thanks for the info.

Out of curiously, is your store by chance doing some type of system upgrade tonight?

Cross upgrade means if you use someone else line to upgrade but you put the phone on your line instead.

Gotcha, thanks. Just doing a direct upgrade since I've been out of contract already.

Another question, how can I get the kind of info from my local store that you've shared with us? Presumably, I could call and ask, but am willing to bet that they're gonna keep quiet. Any suggestions on this?

Looks like Target it is for me later today then. Good luck everyone..Just don't come to the Target stores in my city. :D

I'm getting most of my I for from a buddy of mine that works in the mobile dept. I would go in the store and just be cool with them and ask,if they try to give you the we don't know crap, start implying to them where they can tell you but there not telling you. Know what I mean?

I asked again today they have no idea if they have a system update going but I asked again if they were doing next and he said he had no idea and didn't think they would have next by Friday :(

I'm just curious where is your local Target?

I hope they do hold phones for 48 hours because I will be away on a business trip and wont be back until 9PM Saturday night (most likely when the mobile store closes).

I wasn't expecting Target to have the phones so early and was just going to use it as a back up as I try to get an apple store daily inventory shipment stock after launch. From my iPhone 5 launch week experience, apple stores got daily shipment of phones and each night they do a "In Store pick up." From this thread, I might not need to do any of that.

My local store is in Orlando Florida.

New info:they will not check them in until they get ALL of their shipments in first. This is to make it fair for the customers that preordered to have a fair chance at setting up their appts. My target manager just confirmed they do in fact have all colors and size variations and will have them come Friday. He couldn't say for what companies though. He did confirm they do have the 6 plus units but they are limited quantity.

Yes they will hold your phone for 48 hours but as soon as it passes your phone is up for anyone to purchase. My store will have an in store lists for people that want a specific phone so if someone that preordered didn't pick up the phone that phone will go to the next person in line.

Expect your email within 72 hours MAX!

All of your posts have been very encouraging, but I'm still refusing to get my hopes up - my plan is to wait in line at 3AM on Friday at AT&T, pray for a Plus, possibly settle for a 6, and then hope Target calls eventually.

I was the first person to reserve a Plus at my local Target, so my fingers be crossed.

I'm based in Sacramento, CA, and just found out that my local store hasn't even finished its pre-ordering, and will officially close up at 8pm pacific tonight. I did learn that after this initial launch, Target won't carry any of the higher GB models and they'll only sell the 16's. So for any folks in the West Coast that haven't pre-ordered a higher capacity phone...last chance. Once they have a final pre-order tally, they'll report their numbers to Apple, and from there, theoretically, they should be able to fulfill all the preorders.

In terms of timing, the rep hasn't mentioned any factors that would prevent those who ordered Pluses to receive them on the same day as the regular 6's. He also agreed with me that since they take preorders for all carriers, makes, colors and size, there may be a better shot at beating out the competition if you pre-order a higher sized capacity phone. But again, nothing confirmed until at least the pre-orders are officially over for my store.

I will give them another call tomorrow and find out from there. I look forward to getting my email!

They will not call,it's an email. Just keep an heads up on that. I want to remind everyone that this is my local target we are talking about so I can't speak that all target will have them in stock.

My target is a relatively busy target if that helps anyone.

Right right. The sales guy stressed to me the importance of setting up my phone to have the mail auto-check for new messages, and said to check spam as well.

Very interesting.

Supposedly my store is upgrading in order to be able to NEXT upgrades. She even asked about my eligibility and how it will only work with customers that are eligible. So, hopefully they will have that up and running as I don't want to have to swap my plans again! Hah
