tascam us144 S.leopard 10.6

what i did to get it, tascam us144mkI working again on 10.6 and a iMac late 2009, 21,5" 3.0Ghz :apple:? in settings/tools (hulpprogrammas in Dutch), with the cmd btn l.click audio/midi config. click more info, mark 32bit. remove the latest driver 2.0 for s.leopard . i installed the latest firmware from tascam's site btw (maybe that did the trick)... installed the old driver 1.3 from tascam again and it works with all programs like iTunes, Garageband, Logic, the internet... good luck :)

Tascam US-122 and Snow Leopard

Just checking in, has this been resolved? and if so by use of

? updated driver for snow leopard, powered hub

and I realize the 2007 post was some time ago but I use a Tascam US-122

fine with OSX Panther 10.3.9

Is is Apple, Tascam , both, 32 bit versus 64 bit

and am puzzled over powered hubs as most recent Imacs have USB 2.0

(even on the wired keyboards) not on wireless ones but plenty on the Imac itself and even Mac Laptops

My Tascam US-122 came with a AC Power Supply did Yours? (or I am very

confused about that, but I label chord on every power adapter and or on

the AC adapter itself ( as I have some products made by same company)

M-Audio, Boss, Electro-Harmonix , etc

(I will double check the AC adapter on the Tascam US-122 unit
I have the manual, install disk (initial one) etc as well and like it

I am getting (actually getting ready to set up a new Imac 3.06 ghz i3

4GB ram 500 GB HD (after my long time friend eMac finally went haywire

(completely) R.I.P. it was a good machine,,:):confused::D;)

Tascam US-122L

Greetings fellas,

I've been researching virtually everywhere, and now I finally decided to post my issue, and see if anyone can help me.

Of course it's got to do with the Tascam US-122L, I can't seem to make it function properly.

My computer is an iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - 4GB RAM - OS Snow Leopard 10.6.4

The problem is that I managed to make it work, and I can record with it, but the MIDI ports are not recognised by the computer software, and I really need to use them, I can't use my keyboard as a result of this, and working with a 25-key USB midi keyboard is not so comfortable for certain things, like piano pieces.

I work with a lot of samples, and that is why it is important for me.

I have even considered getting a new USB keyboard (88-key) but if I bought this interface and use original software -of course-, the least I expect is for things to work properly.

The driver version I use for my Tascam US-122L is the 1.12, because it is the last one that works, with the 1.13, and the newest 2.XX versions the audio interface is not even recognised.

I really appreciate any help.

Thanks

- Paul B.

G'day from an Aussie in Dubai,

Like all else here, I'm having some grief with this as well.

The set-up here is:

iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz, 2 GB RAM, OS X 10.6.4, Logic Studio 9.1.1, Tascam US-122L, Tascam Driver 1.13, Firmware v1.12

I have had this working as we wanted, but upgraded something(?) around a week ago, and it's now all gone tits-up...

A few questions, if I may:

...what i did to get it...working again... in settings/tools (hulpprogrammas in Dutch), with the cmd btn l.click audio/midi config. click more info, mark 32bit. remove the latest driver 2.0 for s.leopard ...

Which "settings/tools" are you referring to here, please, bbsfx101?

Also, people:

Should Logic Studio be run in 64 or 32-bit mode?

Why would the US-122L be recognised by Logic Studio 9.1.1, but not preferences, iTunes, etc?

The driver 2.00 appears to be for the US-122L Mk II . Is that particular driver compatible with the 'original' 122L?

With all else failing, I did read the fine print on Pg 11 of the manual, "do not connect the US-122L to your computer before you have installed the drivers", and that's got me to this point.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Andrew.

Problem Solved

Amazing! I don't know how they figured this one out, but the new driver did not solve my issue. I read this and tried the USB hub and it worked like a charm. Thanks for limiting my headache with this. :D

Found this posted on another forum, if you are still having problems with the US-122 even after cleaning all the drivers, etc from your machine and trying again, try connecting it to a Powered USB Hub.

I have a late-2008 unibody MBP and the US-122 will not under any circumstance work when connected directly to it, even in Windows under Boot Camp. Just bought a Belkin Powered USB Hub, reinstalled the drivers, and it works fine in Garage Band and Logic Express 8.

As a test I connected the US-122 directly to the MBP, and sure enough it crapped out. Back on the hub, and it works fine.

Tascam US-122 Problem

Hi,

I have not hooked up my Tascam US-122 (that I bought in a ? 2003)

used it with a PPC Imac and then consistently with a 2004 eMac that had USB 2.0 ports as well as Firewire 800

I am glad for those that a powered hub has fixed issues with Snow Leopard

and (? drivers on Tascam.com for the US-122 up to Leopard as well as Tiger
and Universal Binary) Unless I have looked at the site to many times!
Ironically the US-100 (which is inexpensive and to me not very useful id compatible with Snow Leopard OSX 10.6 out of the box, Even the US-122mkII
and US-144mkII have drivers to d-load for Snow Leopard.
The US-122 is USB 1.1 and ? 16 bit. and with Ilife 11 and GB 11' the bit rate increases up to a possible 24bit , I was thinking of buying a Tascam US-144mkII but with Lion 10.7 on the Horizon who really knows what Tascam will do, update drivers? make New Units , I am shopping around
looking for a Audio-Interface with Midi-In-Out and SPDIF as well as XLR ins
Instrument ins and ? High Z ins , TC Electronic looks like it has some nice ones and I down loaded pdf's from their website re"products and software-drivers (they are up to date with Snow Leopard) and while not wanting to break the bank I am tired of Tascam I guess and the inability to get a straight answer from them, I bought a new Imac (the July10 release's) and I love it and have been lucky driver wise as far as updates (except for a Audio-Interface) and I think its time to update anyway (as well as alarger external HD Firewire for speed, Audio Interface USB 2.0 or Firewire 800
only (either or) and whn You look at quite a few Interfaces listed as FW they are FW 400 which is slower than USB 2.0 so... I am glad though that people have been so involved and shared so much info
(though puzzled why (in theory) a powered USB Hub would make the Tascam US-122 work (when its USB 1.1 to begin with and worked on a much older Mac (* though I am not a programmer, just want to make music which I think is all of our goal !:D:apple:;):):eek::mad::apple::mad::apple:
Peace :D:)

Powered hub works.

I have a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard and, after trying everything else, I plugged in my cheapo Belkin powered hub and (bingo bongo) sound.:D Don't know why, but hey.

I just updated to SL from Tiger and my US122 won't work with Logic. I've tried all the suggestions here including a powered hub but with no joy.

I can get audio and midi in but it won't work as an aggregate device now and I can't monitor what's being played or recorded.

Tascam claim it is working because I can get input to the system. I claim it isn't working as it was before the upgrade and I suspect I'll have to buy a new interface. Thanks Apple and Tascam.

TASCAM US122km USB problem on imac

hey all,

I have a imac and tascam us122km... Normally I got used to record easy on garageband... but now after 2 months the GREEN LIGHT on my USB on the Tascam is going very fast lightning. (very fast on and off ) I cannot record at all anymore...

Does anyone know what is wrong? Is it the tascam or something on my preferences imac... (I reinstalled the drivers because of that problem... but no reaction. Stll flickering green USB light)

What!

What? By "powered USB hub", do you mean I have to plug it in to the wall?

If that is the case I will probably have to take this back I was hoping for a more portable solution!

I really thought this would work with garageband, I don't know why (I should have checked first).

I have tried the driver update method suggested and it still is not recognized by Garageband (though it is by mac os x sound preferences).

TASCAM :: 122mkIII problem!!!!

im having the same problem. Did u fix yours? Can u help me???? Thanks!!!

I have one of the new Tascam US-122mkII interfaces, and I cannot get any response out of it. I am using a MacBook, 10.5.8.

When I connect the USB the lights flash on momentarily, but then all go out, as other people have reported with the 'l' version, but the phantom power light still comes on, so there is power.

Have tried using a Belkin powered USB hub, still no response, Have tried with the seemingly updated driver on the Tascam website, and with the driver that came on the CD-rom with the device, and all possible combinations of driver/hub, everytime removing all tascam documentation and applications from the machine before re-installing. Don't know what else to try, has anyone got any suggestions?

Just to clarify, Tascam does not appear in system prefs, Logic or Garageband. The USB light flickers on for a second but does NOT say lit up.
The only place that it shows up is in system profiler, under the USB hub it is connected to, which i guess is promising. What to do?

Same is happening to me! Did you fix it? How? Can you help?

Bizarre

Okay this is strange.
I followed the steps suggested in this thread, cleared old drivers, installed new, and use a powered USB hub.

Well, I got it working with my MBP but it still wont function on the MacPro tower (where most of my editing is done). They were both bought at the same time and have identical versions of OSX and the US-122 shows up as a "composite device" under system profiler on both computers. I can't find any reason why it registers on one but not the other :(

Hello everybody,

I had the same problems with my imac with snow leopard 10.6.6 and Tascam US122L. I read a thing about a powered usb hub so i tried it... guess what? it works again! Hope that you all benefit from this tip.

My original US-122 works with the 3.4.0 driver in OS 10.6.7

I heard the rumors that this device was now obsolete with Snow Leopard. Not true. My Macbook (Yonah series July '06) with Intel works fine with the US 122. After upgrading the OS, it did not work at first. I tried various drivers but the answer is simple really run the driver uninstall and then re-install the driver and use the older driver that is specific for the US-122 for Intel Macs;- the number is 3.4.0. I typically use it with Garage Band. I also have Rosetta installed on this machine. That might be an important inclusion to make some legacy devices work with Snow Leopard. There was something that needed that when I updated the OS and so I installed it.

I am really glad that the Tascam US 122 continues to work well. I have had the device for several years and have used it successfully with Win98se, OS 9.1, and OS 10.2.8 - 10.6.7. It has worked well with all the programs I use to record and works well with Garage Band as well.

Two things are very important to achieve a successful driver install. 1. Un-install any old drivers or if the system fails to identify the unit.
2. Do the fresh driver 3.4.0 installation without the unit attached to the computer.

I hope that this helps.

(sorry if mispelled your User Name)

Is the 3.4.0 driver the last one Tascam posted )Universal Binary version)

if not I will go back and install it (following Your Pathway) I do not have any Tascam US-122 drivers/firmware installed, I did bit uninstalled them as did
not get any response (or was afraid to try a powered USB 2.0 Hub do not recall exactly, I have posted on this thread before or others like it on this site
re: Tascam US-122 and Snow Leopard (I think issues arose first with Leopard)

*With Rosetta and my unfamiliarity with it (other than its name)

is it a free software add on ? and for Snow Leopard only or Leopard also

I will check Apple's Support for info (did Your Tascam work without Rosetta

or was Intermittent without it? I just do not want to add aprogram that could

(possibly) affect negatively other Apple/Mac Functions, Will check

and if by chance could You post if You have time

and ** did You use a Powered USB Hub or just the clean everything off

install 3.4.0 (without Tascam US-122 installed) and then hook up by USB 2.0 port?

I think I asked You my questons (sorry if wordy) and will try this weekend!

I am at OSX 10.6.4 (I need to do the updates after back up) I was waiting for 2 drivers (one for a USB MIDI keyboard) and its good to 10.6.6 and Line 6 Podxt up to current level
of Snow Leopard

I do have a Tascam US-122 and bought a iMac 3.06 GHz Intel i3 4Gb 500 GB HD and could not get my Tascam US-122 Audio Interface to work
(and read this sites forums and adding a powered USB hub etc
(even Apple support and other 3rd pary sites mention using powered USB 2.0 hubs with metal powerbooks and Imacs as the USB 2.0 ports are not puting out 5v 500ma

I did buy and return a Firewire 400 Audio Inreface (unsealed/un opened so no restock fee and have looked and looked at Audio Interfaces from every manufaturer and web site

and had planned on ordering the new Focusrite Scarlett i816 )$299.99 with a external power supply) 2 XLR/Mic combo preaamps 8 inserts 4 1/4 outs
Midi in/out SP/DIF in/out and a feature I like a Optical Digital In as I have a Vox Tonelab with Optical Digital Out

but both come with the Scarlett Plug in Suite ($99.00 on its own, Novation Bass Station, Ableton 8 Live lite and ? 1GB loops/samples (not a deal breaker) due out depends where You Read early mid May and Late April
and compat with Snow Leopard up to OSX 10.6.7 or what ever the last update was in March 2011

I also like the Akai EIE $199.99 USB 2.0 with 4 XLR/Inst ins front
and 4 1/4 ins and 4 1/4 outs and 3 USB 2.0 Huns on the rear and 2 VU dials front and comes with a external power supply (was shown at Winter NAMM 11 and shipment dates pushed back to ? July, not sure where built but if in Japan could be longer due to the terrible tragedy there

http://tascam.com/product/us-122/downloads/

here listed under "Drivers (Mac OS)" - I use this Tascam driver with success in Snow Leopard 10.6.7 with my Macbook and GarageBand 3.0.5. It was the same one that worked in Tiger, but after the OS upgrade the uninstall and re-install were necessary to get it to work again..

I tried a borrowed Belkin powered USB hub before the uninstall/re-install but that did not succeed. I kept getting a message that a USB device needed more power. So in my situation, the powered hub solution failed.

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/27987.html

Rosetta is a free Mac utility that allows some backward compatibility for pre-Intel PPC (G3, G4, G5) programs. I had something else that needed Rosetta to run. I am not sure whether this affects the Tascam driver, but it seems plausible. Does it work without Rosetta? Unfortunately I don't know the answer to that concerning Snow Leopard. It seems to me that Rosetta went onto my machine when upgraded to Snow Leopard from Tiger. The driver worked in Tiger without Rosetta. I don't think it would negatively affect your system to install Rosetta, but I will not make promises.

The USB hub was not necessary after the unistall / re-install and it did not help before that. It seems to work in some other users' experience but it did not work in my situation. It is important to compare the specific Tascam product US-122, not US-122L or US-122 MkII or US-144. It could also depend on the maker of the USB hub.

I tried all the later drivers for MkII, L, etc. None of those worked for the original US 122. So I stripped all of that out using the Tascam uninstall option in the software and then re-installed the driver 3.40 and it worked. Lots of re-booting, etc.

It is critical that the device NOT be connected while installing the driver.

I also use a late model 3.33 GHz iMac with similar RAM / HD config to your machine. My OS install is latest upgrades just like my Macbook. I have not yet tried the US-122 with that machine. I do mostly location recording with the Macbook.

I will try that out soon and get back to you, but I think it should be the same as the two machines are essentially software mirrors of each other, except for some outdated iLife programs on the Macbook.

The GarageBand version on my Macbook is version 3.0.5., on the iMac, it is version 4.something.

Tascam US-122 Problem

Silversorcerer,

Thanks for Your very detailed step by step pathway and info on Your Laptop's Operating System and iMac running Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.7. I spent the afternoon on Apple's Site, support (forums were down for awhile so I went to Google researched Rosetta) Once I had a window come up asking me if I wanted to install Rosetta (must have had a PPC application ? or something come up and I declined) I had read today the article from the link You sent re If You have Snow Leopard and need Rosetta (but there was not a dialog box as mentioned in the support article) out on the web I found multiple articles and explanations of what Rosetta was /is and its exactly as You described (To run PPC applications on Intel Based Machines) It also detailed that with OSX 10.4.x Tiger and OSX 10.5.x Leopard Rosetta was part of the Operating System Install, With Snow Leopard (and this was consistent in the articles , that I made pdf's of and bookmarked as well) it is *not part of the Operating System install, and basically (as I was not able any where to locate a site to just down load Rosetta for Snow Leopard) It said to put in your install disk (Operating System I would Imagine rather than Applications) and Rosetta will appear and You will do a custom install (but only check Rosetta) and it will be installed as part of Snow Leopard (its a 2-3 mb file and no hazard to a Apple Computer) which is a relief, It also mentioned using the finder and when coming across a PPC application You use the finder to open Rosetta, I checked the Finder but found nothing realting to the verbage described, I did use a About this Mac and checked Software, Applications etc and Rosetta did not appear on any list, So I imagine the disk is the ? only way to install it, Hopefully I can view the support forums as questions or terms I put in and clicked search took me to Forums/Support but a Yellow stickie was there saying We will be back) I did download the Tascam Universal Binary3.4.0 Installer and Uninstaller, but I really think that Rosetta is the missing link, as You also Indicated. * I did read a Macworld U.K article about Apple OSX 10.7 Lion Beta and this is a bummer if it stays this way, Rosetta will not be a part of Lion, nor Front Row nor Java (though there was debate about Java) the article said that PPC's had not been built in 6 years and it was time to discontinue Rosetta, * I was unaware of what the program was and it seems very helpful as it listed quite a few programs that are able to run on Intel Based and Snow Leopard Operating Systems because of Rosetta and its a long list that will not be able to run, several comments said they would stay with Snow Leopard rather than lose their PPC programs such as Appleworks ( I have a PPC version of Toast that I Possibly can run with Rosetta as well as get The Tascam US-122 up and running, I look forward to further inout as You stated You had not tried the Tascam US-122 with Your iMac (but had with Your Laptop , and if You installed Snow Leopard over Tiger ? then thats why Rosetta is on Your Laptop?, I have read alot today and its a bit blurred together, 1) is there then different versions of Rosetta
or is it the same Rosetta added in with the particular opeating System ie:Tiger, Leopardd etc or 2) is it a different Version (example v1x for Tiger V2.x for Leopard
and 3) 3.x for Snow Leopard. Stil a tad confused on Rosetta , it did give examples on how to get the Rosetta Install prompt to come up and my interpretation was You were running a PPC application or program, ? not web based though. I did save each article and I will read them over again,

*I do have a Audio Interface selected (not ordered) and was thrilled when I read this post as it made so much sense, but then reading the Lion Beta article (and it could change, leave in 2-3 MB program is hardly a disk space hog, Fingers crossed

Thanks Again!

Tascam US-122 Problem

Silversorcerer,

6-27-11

Hi,

I am going to try out your idea re: with Rosetta and the US-122

I (during) updates to my iMac mid summer 2010 Intel Core i3
3.0.6 GHz 4 GB ram and running OSX 10.6.7 Snow Leopard (though OSX 10.6.8 is out and per this web site and www.macsonly.com it improves the graphics which had a decline in OSX 10.6.7.
I did buy a USB 2.0 with external power supply Focusrite Scarlett 18i6
(came with 2 sets of plug ins Scarlett Plug-In-Suite (EQ-Compressor-Noise Gate and Reverb ) and Novation Bass Station Soft Synth (both downloads
and use a install code, as well a Ableton Live Lite 8 (Focusrite-Novation Edition as well as > 1GB of Loops and Samples from Loopmasters and also mikethedrummer.co.uk , It also has Scarlett Mix Control a "software"
DSP like Mixer which is for me exasperating as far as set up, not any instructions included, and on the box only English Language was the name of the unit and number of ins and outs and Xcite+ pack (the Abelton Live Lite (on a disk) and loops (on disk) and Novation Bass Station (download) there was a red disk also (but per Focusrite Tech Support do not install it, only use the auth code for Mix Control
I received the unit June 8th and have yet to get a sound out of it
(Using Apple's GarageBand V 5.1 (supported) and OSX 10.6.7 supported
The plce I did the purchase as well as Focusrite did send me info (re: The Audio Interface Manual was on the online/brick and morters shop 1st
and plug in manuals on Focusrite.com and Novationmusic.com (they are related companies) I was exasperated with it and time was ticking and I emailed The store last p.m and got a return authorization and no restock fee unless missing parts or wrote on manuals ;) I did not write on anything but sure spent a lot of time, I did during a password set up
during the Mac-Defender issue spot Rosetta and installed it so will try the US-122 minus any hub
I did find in Snow Leopard the missing Manual" that Rosetta was a routine install up to OSX 10.5 Leopard , but optional with Snow Leopard

Though I read in Lion Rosetta is going away (? due to having Lion on your mac or will not work with Lion) I am taking a break for looking for another A/I for now, I still have a PPC eMac that the US-122 did/does work with
We have two, one that went haywire a 1.25 ghz 1GB ram 80 gb HD and a working 1.0Ghz 1GB ram 40GB hard drive with G-Band Version 3
I may reformat the faster emac (it had constant kernal panics and in the past a logic board replaced so its banged up inside, dont want to spend $ on either

I will look at Mixers with either USB, ethernet connections to Mac's
as a option

Sorry for the long email

TASCAM US-122 Problem

I have an imac 27" purchased in 2011 running Lion and the US-122 3.40 driver. The Tascam US-122 works for me in Garage Band if I boot the machine in 32-bit mode (hold down 3 and 2 on the keyboard while the machine boots).

Connection Type: This displays the type of USB connection being used to communicate with the device. This will be either "USB 2.0" or "USB 1.1". To enjoy all the features your TASCAM US-122L or US-144 offers, you must plug it into a USB 2.0 host port on your computer. It is possible to use a USB 1.1 host port, but the device will then only operate at 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz sample rates, and the US-144 will only transfer 2 channels to and from the computer. Please note that connecting a device to a USB 2.0 computer port through a USB 1.1 hub will force the device to use a USB 1.1 connection.

This solved my problem...

Tascam US-122 problem (Snow Leopard and ....)

Well,

After a long search, trial and error and fits of despair :eek::(

I am exasperated (in a most thrilling way) and I must thank everyone who posted and I do believe its Silversorcerer (Hope I did not mispell again, I wrote it down first this time) that has The Answer..:):apple::)
:D
I too use Apple's Garageband, have a Tascam US-122 Audio Interface
(Silver and Blue-Bus Powered) I used the OSX Snow Leopard Disks (1 of 2)
and installed Rosetta (which prior to Snow Leopard was part of the OSX operating System (? when it started but ceased after Leopard)
* I used the very first to the right (facing the iMac monitor USB 2.0 port
and unplugged all other USB items (Keyboard, I use a wireless mouse for the seconds it took to hook up the USB cable ? wether that is part of it ?
and darn if my 2010 iMac 3.06 ghZ 4GB Ram, 500 GB hard drive has a functioning Tascam US-122 Audio Interface (no powered USB Hub either)
I followed his directions (page 4 of this thread) and did the uninstall x2
install of Universal Binary (with Audio Interface un-attached) then restart
did the set up and Bingo and I think my jaw dropped quite a bit
(as I have been driven half mad looking at Audio Interfaces (bought and returned a FW one and USB 2.0 one and was getting ready to go for a Allen&Heath USB Mixer (but had a good outcome with a MIDI keyboard in the past week (where it was no longer supported (after OSX 10.6.7?) but works just fine in OSX 10.6.8 64 bit operating system, running-bootimg the same for the Tascam Us-122, My fingers are crossed that this continues, sounds great (though surely there are better units but it saves me money that I do not have right now and getting both working is a double blessing, I can record music again (and not use the Tascam Porta II (its still mint in the box) Anyone read the 10 reasons to keep 4 track cassette recorders in Tape Op awhile back , certainly inspirational and I believe online at www.tapeop.com Looking forward to the release of the 2 CD set of L.A.Women by The Doors (and all three are in agreement) with alternate versions of songs, recording Conversations with tape rolling (including who came up with the Thunder idea for Riders on the Storm) and some covers and a few songs that did not make the LP (I hope Vinyl is available) will be on Rhino Records , Article I read said Fall 2011, It mentioned no one had listened to the tapes in 40 years (and are stored in a humidity controlled and Halon-Gas protected envirement, Bruce Botnick
Who will assist with the project and worked a lot with The Doors said if You are in there to long (the storage) the humidity makes You want to well urinate (glad thats known He could of said more sordid words
Bruce Botnick has been extensively interviewed in Tape Op (My favorite recording magazine and web site and Free subscriptions in the USA at least published by The Extraordinary Larry Crane

Hi,

and Tascam US-122 fix (and without a Powered USB Hub)

Though thats a super one too for all of those who saved a lot of cash
by not buying a new Audio Interface

I am running OSX 10.6.8 64 bit mode iMac mid Summer 2010 i3 processor,4GB ram, 500 GB Hard Drive, Wireless network, Airport Extreme dual band 802.11n and per Silversorcerer added Rosetta (which up to OSX 10.5 Leopard was part of the routine Install of the Operating System, Its not with Snow leopard but can be added with the OSX 10.6 OS disc
the link in Apple Support (unless I could not locate the download) I could not locate it (a "about" Rosette" article yes, in Support,

why only in 32 bit mode??

still alive?

okay, now i bought a usb hub, installed rosetta and deleted and re-installed driver 3.4. for the us-122 a few times but still nothing seemed to work on my mbp (15", 2011 edition), os x 10.6.8.

finally i tried out the 32-bit mode tip posted above. can't unterstand why, but now it's working. anybody got an idea why and if there is any option to run it in normal mode, because i don't wanna reboot my mac everytime i plug the soundcard in. and btw, what's the matter with 32 bit-mode, is it slower or anything as usual?

oh, and thanks for the many previously posted tips!
