I voted for "most vulgar" simply because I love milk in my tea:p

Ironically, I love black coffee without cream or sugar, but my tea must be slightly sweetened with a fair share of milk in it.:p

Well working at Starbucks, and tasting many teas to fill up my passport, I think it would be absurd to try tea with milk. The flavor of the tea would be masked by the milk.

Must not have gone far in filling up your passport then. ;)

I still maintain that most of the teas you find in the US are SO weak that your statement is mostly true. However, the taste of typical english teas is so strong the milk is the only thing that makes it mild enough to drink. I'd puke if I sipped PG tips (or something similar) without milk.

to compare, boil your water, drop in 5 tea bags of some various black tea into your single mug, and let steep for 5 minutes. THEN try to drink it without milk. you'll know what I mean then.

I'm going to try this with english tea when I get home

Americans as a rule know almost nothing about tea. Don't even bother to order it in a restaurant here, even a good one. The drink simply has never caught on over here.

As for milk in or out, it depends entirely on the variety of tea. You would not put milk in Oolong.

Next debate: milk in first or last?

First, I like to pour some milk in a proper teacup with saucer.
Then, I pour the tea that's been brewed with loose leaves in a tea pot.
Lastly, I add a little sugar and enjoy.

I do this ONLY because its comforting to me. My grandfather use to make me tea like this - starting from when I was a little kid - whenever I visited him in England or he visited me and to drink it this way reminds me of him.

I could never drink black tea without milk, ever. Only green and white tea which I really also enjoy.
