And let the customer pay for it of course! A bit like replacing the engine block when you need new spark plugs....If that's how it gets repaired, why wouldn't they? Swap the logic board, takes five minutes, then ship the old board off, fix it, and turn it into a refurbished computer.
It's news because like iPhone 7 those speaker holes don't do the whole way through.
Haha! Yup. This was a nonsense decision, as is any attempt to justify it.
I could live with it if the mouse itself was good, but it's terrible too. And it costs a fortune. I've spent my share on Apple stuff in the last few years for sure but this was the first product where I used it.. stopped using it.. went back to it as maybe I wasn't giving it a fair chance.. then firmly decided it was time to retire it. Too many phantom inputs and other weird behaviour. Back to a normal mouse now, and much happier.
ArsTechnica has published a correction to their own mistaken story on this topic. This is how you can differentiate a site that practices some form of journalism and one that is simply a page view generator.Still no correction or update on MacRumors story, of course.
Here's a sampling of the wit and wisdom of keithjfuller:it sounds like you'd have to either have absolute faith in apple that they built this thing perfectly, or you'd have to literally be made of money to justify buying this thing.
i've had many apple products over the years, and they all had to have things replaced - screens, fans, hard drives, ram, etc. i've done everything myself. i have even been able to upgrade them on my own because the prices apple charges for upgrades is disgusting.
their drive to make things as thin as possible has gotten to the point where it's ridiculous and is actually hurting their product. i think that form vs function is a balancing act that apple has all wrong these days.
every apple fanboy who has been saying the samsung's oleds are terrible and apple's lcds are the greatest things on the planet are now going to claim that apple invented oled screens and that all the android phones are copying them.
I guess reason isn't allowed on this forum. No matter what I say it gets removed for not worshipping the cult of Apple...
I heard from inside sources how Apple plans on changing the world for the better - they are going to start selling Samsung products.
Wow... You are the face of Apple customers... Unlimited money, spending without regard, and completely irrational...
Apple Watch has got to be the stupidest product ever created. I am amazed that people are willing to spend loads of money on a tiny iPhone screen that does 1% of what an iPhone does, and still needs an iPhone to work...
Apple doesn't have to put the best tech in their stuff because fanboys buy it anyway. They leave the best products to Samsung.
iOS sure is pretty, but it does nothing.
i'm sorry that i hurt your feelings by saying that i'm leaving apple, but that's just how it is.
TOMORROW!?!?!? how about now.
I personally like the Magic Mouse but I think I'm in a small minority as a lot of people have issues with it.
Apple haven't exactly got a stellar reputation with mice (hockey puck mouse being the most memorable), but at least there are plenty of alternatives out there for people who don't like them.
Didn't the 2012 rMBP have speaker grills? How is this different?is it me or the speakers actually uglifies the macbook look?
I didn't say the 2012 looked good eitherDidn't the 2012 rMBP have speaker grills? How is this different?
I think you mean 2K or 2000I would say 90% of the people can't shell out 2000K+ just because a new laptop, still under warranty, breaks down
How so? The grills are closed. They aren't drilled through.
Are they speaker grills... or heatsinks/vents? The latter seems more likely to me.
i'm not sure what your point is?Here's a sampling of the wit and wisdom of keithjfuller:
MR needs to update their original post as iFixit updated theirs. From Ars Technica:
Update: iFixit has updated its teardown with some new information—while some of the holes in the speaker grilles do appear to be cosmetic, others are used for the laptop's tweeters. Most sound is routed through the laptop's air vents as previously reported.
Am I reading the data sheet for the ram correctly? The Samsung ram was released in 2012, and is rated at ~1066MHz??? Is this somehow run in tandem to yield 2133MHz?
Briefly looking through some of the early Geekbench scores, it seems the new rMBP doesn’t have much of an edge, if any over the predecessor. Upon looking closer, it seems the memory tests are slower on the newer model. This doesn’t add up per Apple’s claim! Is this yet another crippling disappointment?
+10HPit's like the fake hood vents on the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe...hahaha
