Wow, life must be a real struggle for you.

No, that was meant to be amusing, not as some kind of struggle. I just worded it incorrectly, which of course means it now has become a struggle.

So yes, life is a struggle. I struggle in this forum. A losing struggle BTW.

I go now bye :)

This kinda reminds me when a car manufacture makes a sports version of their car, stripping out parts to make it lighter and faster. At least Apple is cutting the price for the end user.

Be careful, when you point out this silly little tid bits about awesome posts such as his you may be accused of trolling ;)

When I see posts such as his I really want to slam my head into the wall. I mean are people really that pathe.... never mind.

Curious, a physician.

If this is a sneak peek (consumer test) of the new lowprice Iphone design - I'm in!

Removing the camera and halving the memory is a cynical ploy by Apple to coerce people into buying the more expensive 32GB model.

They have been known to be the 1st ones to tear them guts out of shiny devices. :D

They've flown to I think Australia or New Zealand in the past to tear down a new iPhone when it's released there first.

I was having a hell of a time yesterday.

I decided I wanted an iPod touch. (I haven't been in the market for them for several years, but I vaguely know about the present models).

So I go on Ebay and do a search for 5th gen models. Fine, nothing unusual there. I then go to Amazon, where i started getting into trouble.

They had listings for 4th gen models they called (current) and 5th gen they call (newest). Yikes! no biggie though, i'll just go to Apple and check models.

Well, I go to the Apple site and they have a 16GB model on the front page as 'New' . At this point i'm totally lost, I haven't a clue.

By the time I figure out what is what i've lost interest.

Thank you Apple for saving me money.

I think this is the stupidest thing I have ever read! You blame Apple? Ah lol. Turn on your brain next time.

+1
There are so many folks here who seem to have truble undertsanding this.

I'm sure people understand they just don't care when they want something and I really cannot disagree with them all that much if at all. As a business I get it, if the 16GB has everything the 32GB has aside 16GB's that is not even close to a $70 upgrade, now for a camera and 16GB's it makes more sense. This whole battle of memory as the factor for a rising the price to such levels only really works once you hit the 64GB level and above otherwise it feels too petty with the small upgrade and low costs of smaller memory.

Compared to what? What makes you the divine authority on what people should spend their money on?

Arrogance in the fullest.

That is not even exclusive to Apple costumers.

Buying things just to buy them is kind of pointless, so are a lot of things, likely does not matter if they can afford whatever it may be and don't complain about being broke all the time because they blow their money on possible pointless things every week.

Defining pointless is quite subjective as aside from the basic needs of life anything can be pointless to another. Once I saw someone go off on a person buying a two hundred dollar purse, yet buying a two hundred dollar tablet would likely not get a second look. Of course I place more value on art and electronics then a purse since I'm a guy.

And how much is an "good enough" Camera module to Apple?

Ten Dollars isn't it ?

Both actually, nz for 3g and aus for the iphone 5 i think

How about $199 for 32 GB of ram and the camera. $129 without the camera and 16 GB of ram. It will sell a boat load of them.

Whats and ipod gonna do with 32GB of ram?

Whats and ipod gonna do with 32GB of ram?

What did the last one do with 32 & 64GB of Ram?

I wonder how many of these are going to be returned because the customer doesn't know it doesn't have a camera.

So will Apple start counting Shipped instead of Sold when all the returns come back from confused Apple customers that were looking to capture the moment with a picture only to realize Apple stripped this worse than a car in a bad neighborhood.

I wonder if the Chicago Sun Times reports will use this to save that extra $$ to take FaceTime pictures for the front Page.

This product is a joke at the price Apple is gouging the consumer for.

Maybe they should pull some of the cash back from Ireland and give a REAL upgrade as opposed to a stripped down Cheap POS.

Spend the extra 2 cents to get rid of that HUGE black patch on the back for WiFi and make it the same color as the rest of the back.

It looks like a lopsided cyclopes.

Capture the moment. Quick pull out your phone my new iPod doesn't have a camera.

camera isn't cheap
adding a camera on 16gb would cannibalize 32gb sales which has a much higher profit margin.

Well if cannibalization occurs, maybe they have one too many models... Apple has enough money and enough profit margin to not have to put out a lesser quality product in terms of features. Again, any money this saves them is minuscule in the grand scheme.

It's about keeping a customer happy. As another poster said in another thread, what about the poor guy who gets this assuming there is a rear camera, only to find nope. Seems like Apple doesn't really have interest in social features, as the camera really is one.

I don't disagree with many of their moves, but this is one I do disagree with.
