this did NOT need to happen. it ended perfectly. but i guess studios need more and more money . pathetic. Also, adding Diversity into it , is ridiculous , i Am Transgender, and them adding a womens team into it , in an atempt to go after the '' norms '' is just not needed . i am sick of studios thinking its good to do this ,
Are you in a clockwork orange situation here? Don’t watch it. I won’t, I think it ended fine and the writing started to get stale by the end. Season 1 is by far the best.

Ted Lasso is returning to Apple TV+ for a fourth season, series star Jason Sudeikis has confirmed

I agree with you that the series ended perfectly.

However, it's Apple who needs (wants) the money as this is an Apple TV+ series and it's Apple who greenlit season 4.

You better believe it: Ted Lasso is officially back as Apple TV+ has greenlighted a fourth season of its flagship comedy series, with Jason Sudeikis set to return as star and executive producer.

According to sources, Juno Temple, who played Keeley in the first three seasons, is in negotiations to rejoin fellow original cast members Sudeikis (Coach Lasso) as well as Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca), Brett Goldstein (Roy) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie) who were locked in for the new installment back in August.

And, picking up where Season 3 left off, I hear the Season 4 premiere episode will film in Kansas (likely Kansas City) before Ted Lasso heads back to the UK. Casting of new roles is expected to begin shortly, with production eying a July start, sources said.

Apple is adamant about making Apple TV+ succeed by trying to grow subscribers and revenue.

They do this by pumping out the familiar content. That's the easiest thing to do as trying to come up with something fresh and new is risky and expensive.

Yup nothing like taking a hit series and giving the fans what they want. That is very familiar, Apple doing what it does best.

I'm not saying a 4th season is a bad thing. Just pointing out to emmab2006 that this was Apple's decision and the likely reason behind hit.

Women's football is a huge sport. 12m domestic audience watched the England vs Spain world cup final in 2023 here in the UK. Bend It Like Beckham (a massive movie here) is about the fathest the sport ever got in dramatisation.
Just don't exaggerate and bring the numbers of a FINAL to a debate about audience. Women's football only survives because men's football sustains it.
I also watch women's football occasionally (other than international tournaments) and the sporting/entertainment value is there and kind of a shame that it's not sustainable on its own when many men's football teams should not even be in pro leagues yet they play in their country's first division.

The lead up for a women's team has been in Ted Lasso since the very first few episodes (maybe even the first one), where he bumps into a girl playing with a football on Richmond Green. With the rise in interest in women's football in recent years, particularly in the UK where this show is set (England won the Women's Euros in 2022) coupled with the show's stories about women's empowerment both with Rebecca and Keeley, this comes across as a natural progression of storylines and world events.

And Ted Lasso did not end perfectly. Ted's storylines seemed resolved but many other characters had story lines that weren't wrapped up and there was clearly more to tell. I'm personally surprised that this has ended up being an actual fourth season rather than the "Richmond Way" rebrand/spinoff that I was expecting this extra season to end up being. This doesn't come across at all as a show being milked for more money. Multiple seasons of good shows used to be the norm and I'm glad that the writers will get the opportunity to finish telling what they started without being hobbled by just a few seasons.

Very cool! Great story and such a feel good experience. A work colleague recommended it and so glad that we watched the complete series - twice.

Yup, and same thing can be said about other studios caving into doing the same thing too (looking at you, Disney)

Season four should be about Ted being hired by Tim Cook to lead the Siri team. Go meta, lean into the humor of seeing an Apple TV show about an Apple product failing, build up characters and tell us the story of how Apple Intelligence failed through the lens of Ted Lasso.

this show was done after 2 seasons - it was tight and good and fresh and solid. Now its like dragging a dying horse to battle. Give it up and stop ruining the memory of good things

Why are you “non fans” mad at this? JFC, no one gives a damn that you “stopped watching during season 2 and won’t be watching this.” A titular character can return and do their job somewhere else and it work. It’s that simple.

I don't see this as a good thing. The show will have to go a completely different direction and that might make it difficult to capture the original charm of the show. Season 3 wrapped up all loose ends very nicely.

After enjoying the 1st season, I did not even get to completing the 2nd season. Some episodes felt like watching Sex and the City. Why they would mix content like that I don’t know.
All they had to do is make a show for a target audience and keep it that way. What’s so difficult about that?
