Yeah because Apple doesn’t list all the models, Spotify does. Example my thermostat. And AirPlay 2 refers to video streams which Spotify can’t do. The list including AirPlay must dwarf Spotify.

How do you know this?

My thermostat isn’t on the list. Not to forget about the point of video streams. And with my tv I can transfer the stream if the app exists.

Ok but how do you know that Spotify's list is exhaustive? Seems unlikely that they could list ten times more devices if it didn't have wider support tbh

This argument is hilarious. Spotify Connect is so ubiquitous I'd never heard of it until this argument. AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect aren't directly comparable, since AirPlay 2 does more. They're engineered for different purposes, so it's going to be an apples to oranges comparison.

At the end of the day though. Apple haters are going to hate no matter what Apple does, and Apple fans are going to appreciate Apple's products.

It’s my opinion. Most smart things will support AirPlay. Even my smart thermostat supports AirPlay. Sometimes it’s difficult to get “facts”. But you are welcome to throw your hat in the ring with some numbers.
No facts, just your opinion. Understood.
It’s way off topic. That’s why I suggested if there is an interest there are other boards here on MR for that type of discussion.
Considering you bring DriverKit to the conversation, not me, I suppose you could explain it. It seems, again, it's your opinion, not facts.
You can pick any sets of speakers or stream audio channels separately.
You can do that with Spotify too.

You're in the minority there I'd wager

Spotify Connect has long been seen as a major software/hardware integration feature advantage for users.

The most "normal" / "average" consumers I know have long cited that as a reason they've been with Spotify and continue to stick with it, despite having various other reservations about the service and company as a whole at times.

It's that your opinion or a fact? Because my receiver is not listed in the Spotify compatibility list. Neither most devices from brands like Marantz, Yamaha, NAD, ARCAM and Anthem.
