They're fake.

Telstra and all carriers cannot use "iPhone" without appropriate capitalisation and branding. Apple have very strict rules about it.

The Steve Jobs one is particularly poor.

That makes 100% sense. No way Apple would allow their iPhone to be listed as "IPHONE".

I agree with your first statement.

Also, Steve Jobs would not allow or agree to using his name to promote an Apple product directly. He would not be happy if these were real ads.

FAKE

It is in the style of the latest Australian Telstra ad. I've seen it on TV a fair few times.

EDIT: Woops, mentioned in OP.

Are these ads something akin to "prototype" ads? As in, these ads were made by their PR department (who obviously have no idea what the iPhone looks like) to be released after Apple announces the new iPhone(s)? Or are these ads already circulating around?

From what I gathered, it looks like they're just "prototype" ads. But they indeed could very well be photoshops. :(

I can't understand why these have regestration / crop marks, unless they supposably were leaked by someone in post production. The source files are dated October 1st, so it's entirely possible that the poster just whipped them up in illustrator beforehand.

I'm inclined to just shoot these down, but it is telstra after all. They did bring in Rebecca Black to promote their new network. Ick.

ED: For what it's worth, they are alluding to it in the same ugly format on their website.

ED2: For reference, these are all plastered around the Melbourne CBD at the moment.

they deffo are fake, someone's done it with the reg/crop marks to make people think it's genuine and supposedly leaked as they must have thought this would make it look credible, but it just doesn't fit.

Omg these are so bad. Poor grammar and statements that don't make sense. The last one in particular is missing the word "sale"? As others mention, there's problems with the Steve Jobs thing, the capitalization of a trademark etc

Fake as fake can be.

By the same token, if they came from the printer, they would have those marks. Still not buying it though.

The posters that I have seen in the wild are exactly that bad. These are some of the more creative ones, fake or not

It's of note too, that Telstra has never had any sort of exclusivity in Australia.

I think that if these are real (I don't think they are), it's worth noting that the iPhone 4S ad mentions Telstra's NextG network, their equivalent of 3G.

I think the biggest giveaway is that it's not the same typeface Telstra uses for branding.

In addition to the characters being slightly wider, look at the middle line of the E and the curvature of the G, compared to the other official ads posted.

Not saying they couldn't change up the font they're using, though...but it would be strange for a company to change it, yet use something so similar.

So posting these here, and not on the site, because I can't believe these are real or based on knowledge. But it should keep some hope alive for those who really want to believe.

Note it's in the style of real Telstra ads:

thanks @ma_ttie, brock and rodney

Sounds like LTE as LTE is only available near Capital cities and in rural areas but HSPA+ is availinle in more places like that. So basically the network telstra describes in the picture is the LTE network and not HSPA+ if that makes sense.
