its up to you man. i had to compromise. the ipad pro really let me down for productivity, but its such a great tablet for killing time, traveling, sketching, communication, so ive decided to keep it. i use it as a second battery powered screen hooked up to my windows 10 tablet when working remotely. windows 10 is great on a tablet- as long as you have a good stylus- and can invest the time to learn how to use the OS. no way to use it without a stylus (at least for my software needs).

ive also almost jumped ship, there are a few really good windows 10 tablets, i prefer desktop software over phone apps. some with wacom EMR. but having two windows 10 tablets is less efficient for me than a ipad and a windows tablet. so for now im sticking with this combo. i could honestly live without the ipad, buts its just such a pleasurable experience.

so for me, two tablets replaced a rMBP and 13" cintiq i was dragging around. i dont miss the old setup at all.

The Samsung Tablet has a smaller screen, poorer resolution, probably worse speakers and no dedicated stylus support like the Apple Pencil.

Frankly if your main driver to buy it is the keyboard and Windows, why are you not buying the Surface Pro 4 / Surface book?

The Samsung tablet v iPad pro isn't really an apples to apples comparison. Comparing it to any of the Windows tablets is a much better comparison.

I'm still a bit puzzled as to the point of this tablet. Why not offer it with Android? With the new Android N multitasking and other features, it makes more sense to me.

Windows 8 does a decent job with touch screens. Too bad they lost so many features in 10. (I ditched my Dell XPS 18 for an iPad Pro as soon as it became available.) Eighteen inches was/is too large IMO.

Kinda funny how you put up those pics and specs of the Samsung computer like "how can anyone not like this?!" And I'm sitting here completely underwhelmed looking for something to be impressed by. Not trying to be snarky, was just expecting some killer..."thing" that would be a huge deal to make me jelly.

I wouldn't want the trouble of having Windows 10 on my tablet, I don't like that keyboard and there are a lot of things missing with the Samsung that I love about my iPad pro.

Not sure I understand the need for function keys when we have this little thing we can flip up to control functions on the screen. Or the fact you could get the Logitech create keyboard that has those function keys you want.

A lot of people have been in this weird position where they yearn for a Windows 10 "tablet" as if the grass will be greener on the other side. They try it and within X amount of time are right back here talking about all the issues they had switching.

I say just do it.

If you are looking for a laptop replacement which runs Windows but don't want the solid premium feeling chassis that the surface pro range offers then the lightweight plastic fantastic of the tabpro s is for you.

As noted in other posts, it's slower, has a lower resolution and is just a poor mans surface pro.

Ok - so I went to 2 best buys and 1 Microsoft store looking for this unicorn tablet. I did not find it in stock or on display! they told me tomorrow (03/18) is the day of arrival. Anyway, I wandered around and took a gander at the other tablet/laptops offered including the surface pro 4 again. this time I spend about 1 hour looking around at the Windows 10 offerings.

I've come to a conclusion. for what I am doing so far I am not going to invest in the PC farm. I was not blown away by the surface pro 4 and one of the customers I was talking to not an employee at BB told me there are issues with the current SP4 sleeping - it will not wake from sleep and there is no immediate fix. It seems there are a lot of hardware/software problems and basically to stay away.

I went over to the Samsung booth and saw their tab S2 and was not impressed. Screen was great but the overall system was slow. The screen ratio didn't help either. I did leave wanting an S7 Edge, however! The thing is incredibly gorgeous and so fitting in the hand and so small yet 5.5" display is very, very nice. Screen burn issue is present but that's because they have it at 100% brightness 24/7. Overall the camera is immediately noticeable to be FASTER than any iPhone 6S/+ models. Overall the focusing is like 2x fast as the iPhone and overall I think it's a great point and shoot replacement and applaud Samsung for the effort and with this iteration they have clearly won the smartphone camera battle; that's until we witness the iPhone 7.

Back to the tablet - they told me the price of $899 includes the keyboard cover case. It's magnetically attached on the back and sits in TWO different positions - upright and also slightly lower for the other option when folded. the APK doesn't even do this!

After coming back to this IPP I am content - that is I don't think I'm going to return this IPP for a Windows 10 tablet/laptop. I have my 13" rmbp 2015 model and that's a perfect complement to this IPP. I need the pencil for some writing and the Samsung doesn't include a pen and I don't think it's supported. There is no fingerprint sensor but instead you can unlock the tablet with your fingerprint reader on the S7.

I am OK with the compromise of using a few apps to move files around and I am grateful for the encryption on the iPad. Apple has a very solid product I just hope and pray they do not waste the display with just the simple iPhone UI. There is so much potential and I still don't know about the smart connector accessories available. There are only keyboards and I think it's such a waste for a keyboard attachment. I'll still go check out the Tabpro S when it's here but I am for sure not going to buy it just because of the screen ratio is just terrible for my use (3:2 doesn't help)

I look over at my gigantic iPhone with a 13" display and go wtf did I just spend on.

While it does technically run the same os as the iPhone, I think iOS has matured into so much more than a phone os. Maybe it's just the size of the ipp, but I seem to be able to accomplish anything that I do on my laptop on the ipp, and most of the time, it's much easier.

I know how you feel about the return window, and also seeing if the grass is greener on the other side. A while back I had the same feelings. I picked up a Surface pro 3 and while it was nice, there were just too many headaches that I don't have to deal with on the ipp. Battery life, system updates, always on and ready when I need it quickly, the list goes on.

Maybe I just don't require "traditional computer programs" for my work flow, but I've come to like and appreciate iOS in all of its forms, whether it's on an iPhone or an iPad pro.

I even find OS X to be cumbersome compared to iOS. Sure it's basically the same software with different layers, but iOS just works for everything I need it to. I guess that's why we have options.

The S7 series does seem very impressive. It appears after several iterations they are getting much closer to a really great smartphone overall. I have to admit I am generally underwhelmed with the S iteration of the iPhone 6. IMO the S iteration of the iPhone 5 was a much bigger advance - Touch ID was really something that revolutionized biometrics on smartphones - once it came out, virtually every flagship smartphone now has fast, efficient fingerprint authentication.

Force Touch and Live Photos on the other hand? Very little "copying" of those features - they definitely do not stand out as killer features, nowhere near the way Touch ID is. The spec bump (12MP camera, 2GB RAM) was also generally "meh"... and it didn't take long for the Snapdragon 820 to catch up with the A9....

My thoughts too! As far as computers go, I've never looked at another one and wanted one that wasn't a Mac. Some have come close, but they didn't hit the right spot for me. Same for tablets. Some might have a couple neat stand out features, but the overall package is always lacking.

...phones however, Jesus Christ that s7 edge is a thing of beauty. And what's best....the company known for copying Apple to almost comical lengths, didn't copy it one bit! It looks like it's own product and I think it's a strong contender for best phone. If I wasn't so stuck in the Apple ecosystem, I'd give it a try. Only thing that puts me off is touch wiz

Yeah I've never really understood the overwhelming desire for function keys. Sure on my Mac they're indispensable, but on a device with a touchscreen and is literally at your hands when you're using the keyboard, not so much.

Really other than brightness and media playback keys, I've not found anything for my use that the keyboard shortcuts don't accommodate. I can switch between apps, return to the home screen, initiate a search, switch keyboards and a whole lot more with the Smart Keyboard shortcuts. And with the media buttons and brightness slider just a swipe away from my fingertips, meh, no biggie.

that specs for samsung is on par what windows 10 needs to run decent, the ipp kills with the specs, you can run very nice and smooth at around 60fps 2 apps in the same time.
on the surface pro 4 with core m, you can't
and you have to check the sound quality of the tabpro s.... vs iPP

you can check how win10 works on tabpro s

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Apple made a mistake by releasing that stupid keyboard cover. It's one of the main reasons why people think the iPad Pro is a hybrid device and always compare it with Surface Pro and other hybrids.

The iPad Pro is a tablet, nothing more, nothing less. Hooking it with the "official Apple keyboard" does not transform it into a hybrid or a laptop, even if it may look like one.

sorry but the smart keyboard is what makes the ipad pro worth buying, and of corse for artist the apple pencil
the ipad pro without the keyboard its just a bigger ipad and there is no reason to buy this instead of a 9.7" that is lighter and smaller

i mean with the all key combination taken from osx is very nice to work on 2 apps simultaneous

No, it's not. I have one and sometimes I use a Bluetooth keyboard with it. It only works if you have to write a lot. Once you start touching the screen it sucks because your hand gets tired. A true hybrid at least has the option to use a mouse when in laptop mode. Apple rushed the keyboard to the market to make the iPP look like a hybrid, but it's not. Not with the current version of iOS.

Maybe it´s not ok for you, but for me, and others, i suppose, the smart keyboard is what makes the ipad pro worth buying too.

Heh, this proves my point: the Apple keyboard is somehow regarded as essential for using the iPP, even though arguably better 3rd party keyboard covers have been available for some time, not only for the Pro but also for the iPad Air before it. The magic of Apple-branded accessories.

To each his own. I wasnt expecting much from the smart keyboard after seeing so many people dislike it but i love the thing now that i have it. I ise it every day. The magnetic lovk into place is quick to set up for me and very strong and personally i prefer the travel on the keys. And overall it just feels great to type on.

But thats just me.

Nope, I needed a tablet, that's why I bought an iPad Pro (and a Pencil).
so not the smart keyboard?
yes if you are an artist you bought the right thing ipp and pencil
but other wise if you wanted a tablet and you don't write much, you need the 9.7" ipad
i often use the ipp with the keyboard instead of the surface pro 4...the later is just full of bugs and every time i am confused touching the screen or using the trackpad

i like they didn't include the trackpad, the only thing i miss and probably will be on the 2nd gene is the iluminated keys

Exactly. And adding the Citrix X1 mouse makes my job a LOT easier, since I can remote in to a client's computer like I was right there. The mouse is handy when I need to access OSX and Windows machines. Don't see it being handy anywhere else, but since that's where I use my keyboard mostly.. I'm really happy with the ASK.

ill stick with my surface 4 with the i7, 256 gig ssd and 16 gigs of ram thanks. not a single issue with it

You have one MAJOR issue, Windows 10.
