OP, I can tell you that I personally spent about 30 minutes using the Galaxy Tab Pro S while I was traveling in Europe. Here is what I noticed between the IPP which I own and the Galaxy TabPro S.

1. Build Quality is much better on IPP. The plastic backed Galaxy feels lower quality like holding a plastic android tablet.
2. Keyboard quality of included keyboard is Lower quality as well. It feels very flimsy and more prone to breaking compared to Apples keyboard that you have to buy separately.
3. The amoled screen did not impress me. I feel like the blacks on the IPP are inky and very very dark compared to typical LED computer monitor screens. I would say that Apple has done a great job of approaching OLED quality blacks. The higher resolution IPP actually looks better than the Galaxy TabPro S despite the Tabpro S having OLED.
4. Optimization. Using the Internet is not optimized for the screen on the TabPro S so I was constantly having to mess around with resizing while going to new pages and watching videos.

Then add to the fact that you will be stuck having to constantly update flash and other software on the Windows device while the IPP just works and I can tell you I will definitely not be returning my IPP for the TabPro S. I think that if Microsoft released an OLED Surface Pro, then I would consider that as an interesting alternative. Until then, the IPP is leaps and bounds ahead of anything else on the market.

More important than most of these arguments, my original iPad is still plugging along just fine for the basics. Email, web, YouTube and Netflix all work like champs on the 6 year old girl. No major issues with it, unlike all the crud you have to deal with and OS rot you see with Windows devices.

In the tablet pc review forums (major old school win tab users), under the SP4 thread, everyone is talking about switching to the iPad pro or the new 9.7 Pro. Nuff said.

My thoughts too! As far as computers go, I've never looked at another one and wanted one that wasn't a Mac. Some have come close, but they didn't hit the right spot for me. Same for tablets. Some might have a couple neat stand out features, but the overall package is always lacking.

Man your lucky!. I sure miss OS X, but I need a tablet form factor, pen and touch screen that's more powerful than an iPad for my main workstation. I'm stuck in Windows for now. It's not so bad (surprisingly good actually), but I do miss OS X at times, it's what I learned in school. But, The pc hardware is just a better fit for my work right now. It's crazy. I never thought it would be this way.

I'm hoping the mod book pro X gets released someday, and it has Wacom pro pen. Quad core Mac with a Wacom would be huge benefit for my painting style. I'm running a i7 3.5grz dual core with 16 gb ram right now, it just barely gets the job done.

Haven't used this particular device but I did have a Surface 3 for about half a year. Honestly the compromises were just too much for me with this kind of device. It was fine as a laptop computer but it was bad as a tablet (which is the main reason I got it). I use Win 10 at home and at work and really like it so it's not like I'm anti Microsoft, I don't even own an Apple product right now, but iOS is so much better as a tablet OS that they aren't even in the same league IMO.

Basically if you want a laptop I'd recommend getting a laptop, if you want a tablet that you can do some work on stick with the IPP.

Yes I am sure. I was in Paris on vacation and stopped in at a Samsung Store. They had one available on display to use. The Galaxy TabPro S is already available in Europe.

With the 4 gg ram limit running full Windows ten I fail to see how this is better than the surface 4 or iPad pro. It's like they took the worst of each and combined them

The S7 series does seem very impressive. It appears after several iterations they are getting much closer to a really great smartphone overall. I have to admit I am generally underwhelmed with the S iteration of the iPhone 6. IMO the S iteration of the iPhone 5 was a much bigger advance - Touch ID was really something that revolutionized biometrics on smartphones - once it came out, virtually every flagship smartphone now has fast, efficient fingerprint authentication.

Force Touch and Live Photos on the other hand? Very little "copying" of those features - they definitely do not stand out as killer features, nowhere near the way Touch ID is. The spec bump (12MP camera, 2GB RAM) was also generally "meh"... and it didn't take long for the Snapdragon 820 to catch up with the A9....

I didn't say that, you seem to have quoted alimacs as me??

I know it's Windows 10 but seriously, the specs are just competitive and makes my IPP look bad!

TabPro S specs:

* LTE CAT 6
* 4GB RAM up to 256GB SSD
* Core M 2.2GHz
* USB-C port
* 4K video playback w/support for mkv
* NFC supported
* fingerprint authentication
That's cool. MS will know what you been up to as you use Broken WINDOW 10.

Ok - so I went to 2 best buys and 1 Microsoft store looking for this unicorn tablet. I did not find it in stock or on display! they told me tomorrow (03/18) is the day of arrival. Anyway, I wandered around and took a gander at the other tablet/laptops offered including the surface pro 4 again. this time I spend about 1 hour looking around at the Windows 10 offerings.

I've come to a conclusion. for what I am doing so far I am not going to invest in the PC farm. I was not blown away by the surface pro 4 and one of the customers I was talking to not an employee at BB told me there are issues with the current SP4 sleeping - it will not wake from sleep and there is no immediate fix. It seems there are a lot of hardware/software problems and basically to stay away.

I went over to the Samsung booth and saw their tab S2 and was not impressed. Screen was great but the overall system was slow. The screen ratio didn't help either. I did leave wanting an S7 Edge, however! The thing is incredibly gorgeous and so fitting in the hand and so small yet 5.5" display is very, very nice. Screen burn issue is present but that's because they have it at 100% brightness 24/7. Overall the camera is immediately noticeable to be FASTER than any iPhone 6S/+ models. Overall the focusing is like 2x fast as the iPhone and overall I think it's a great point and shoot replacement and applaud Samsung for the effort and with this iteration they have clearly won the smartphone camera battle; that's until we witness the iPhone 7.

Back to the tablet - they told me the price of $899 includes the keyboard cover case. It's magnetically attached on the back and sits in TWO different positions - upright and also slightly lower for the other option when folded. the APK doesn't even do this!

After coming back to this IPP I am content - that is I don't think I'm going to return this IPP for a Windows 10 tablet/laptop. I have my 13" rmbp 2015 model and that's a perfect complement to this IPP. I need the pencil for some writing and the Samsung doesn't include a pen and I don't think it's supported. There is no fingerprint sensor but instead you can unlock the tablet with your fingerprint reader on the S7.

I am OK with the compromise of using a few apps to move files around and I am grateful for the encryption on the iPad. Apple has a very solid product I just hope and pray they do not waste the display with just the simple iPhone UI. There is so much potential and I still don't know about the smart connector accessories available. There are only keyboards and I think it's such a waste for a keyboard attachment. I'll still go check out the Tabpro S when it's here but I am for sure not going to buy it just because of the screen ratio is just terrible for my use (3:2 doesn't help)

The Sleep issue has been fixed recently.

Exactly. And adding the Citrix X1 mouse makes my job a LOT easier, since I can remote in to a client's computer like I was right there. The mouse is handy when I need to access OSX and Windows machines. Don't see it being handy anywhere else, but since that's where I use my keyboard mostly.. I'm really happy with the ASK.
