One of the thiings I also did was to have a greasemonkey script that "hides" components in pages
that are not required to run but in some cases can be very heavy on our PPC machines so sites "behave" better.

Can you give an example site of where this works?

I'm still using the script you did to tidy up Youtube - works great with LWK/IE8 UA.

Hi Drone,

This works as soon as greasemonkey runs the script and whait it does is change the page
html code to insert an html table compoonent around the page content.
You can have both scripts running in parallel since this one executes immediatelly and the changes
to viewtube occur after the video element is detected.

Hi Drone,

Did you have the chance to try this?

Yes, I installed it via NinjaKit in LWK last night but haven't tried in TFF yet - in LWK the only difference I could detect is that sites loaded very slightly slower. In LWK I couldn't sense any scrolling difference...will install in TFF later and see.

Hi Drone,

I think it should only show a difference in TFF.
Let me know when you have tried it :D

Hi Drone,

Yes this is only noticeable when scrolling with mouse or touchpad.
Can you see if it "feels" more like LWK?
And how is your CPU usage with or without?

If I set the TFF ua to it's default, yes the script lowers CPU while scrolling a Google image search, however I suspect that's because once you scrolled past one screen, the page is full of empty image place holders that don't refresh - without the script they populate as you scroll down hitting the CPU.
I never use the default ua however, so I never get long scrolling pages on image searches.

Hi Drone,

Yes I'm not using the default useragent but a recent one nevetheless.
I'll try what you mentioned ;-)
Thanx for the heads up about google.

Hi all,

Can anyone say "Scrollbarless" Tenfourfox :D

Hi eyoungren,

I think I did it another way ;-)
By the way did you notice any improvements in scrolling because of no scrollbar?

If there was a difference I don't recall. It was a long time ago and I removed scrollbars simply because I didn't like them, not for reasons of speed improvement.

How did you..... How did you get darkmode on PPC ? This is really cool. I think I will start using my PPC macs more than my intel macs. Erik, I think I found a way to get OS 9 to render websites via a proxy server. Do you have a private chat ?
There's a thread of mine here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/black-mac-os-x.1709883/

If you mean the forum, it's somewhere in settings. As far as a black theme with T4Fx, that's an actual dark theme. I'd have to go look it up but I applied it years and years ago. At the time they had two versions, one for Linux computers running Firefox and one for Windows. The one I have installed is for Linux. Ah, now I recall - FT DeepDark.

You can use the DM system here if you want to send me a message.

Sad that Cameron's is the only one we can use in Tiger.

I know I tried PPCBrowser and nothing really loaded on it except google.

That link is for arcticfox and iceweasel on 10.4/10.5.

Not sure how you found my old minimal WebKit ppcbrowser in that thread. (Which you are correct, is now pretty much useless on tiger).

Cheers

Ok, so I should be using iceweasel then for Tiger ? I did see Articfox but it required Leopard - I found these on your blog. Concerning, the rebuilding of tls and security for 10.0-10.3.9 which too will work under classic mac os, since classila runs in that as well. I think myself and most if not all of the MacOS9Lives.com group will pay you for this service.
