I don't see the problem ...
Less than 3%/hour => more than 30 hours of usage.
What do you expect ? You want to produce electricity with your watch?

I switched my AW5 cellular for a Nike version. 1st 24hr cycle the new watch was at 32% when I put it on the charger. This morning was Day 2 and the watch was 60% when it went on the charger! That included wearing it to sleep.

Use case was just wearing it as a watch, 20 min walk with GPS. No streaming or anything to tax the battery. OS 6.0.1, AOD on, raise to wake off, theater mode while sleeping on, most notifications disabled, hearing monitoring off, LTE off, using the darker Nike watch faces.

Not bad I think. I find the charging is a bit slow. It took over an hour to go from the original 32% to 100%.

Still deciding between this or keep using my Garmin.

My battery experience has actually been OK after week 1 with the Series 5. This thread had me holding back until last week when my Father in Law had a little cardiac issue and a resulting demand from my wife that I get him a watch ASAP. Living in a small town and no stock in the closest Best Buy turned that into giving him my series 4 to get him set ASAP. (and its already recording afib events for him) I picked up the Series 5 SBSS Sunday. So far I've had 20-35% at bed time. Its not as good as the 4 was but nothing I consider dire.

50% / 4h 24 minutes usage / standby 23h50min. Raise to wake off, AOD on, noise off, all others on. For me it's getting better every day. Mostly California Watch face in use + Solar. 6.01.

I had only 2/3rds the battery performance vs my 44 mm Series 4, but have experienced a dramatic jump in battery life on my AW5 SS 44 when I shut off podcast sync- it's now in the 45% range at the end of a 6 AM- 10 PM day now, vs 20%, and has been consistently better since that one change. Using AOD California face, sound level on, black dial, flash numerals.

have not really seen any improvement with battery life just yet. didnt some people say it took several days to see improvement? i just did setup as new 2 days ago but battery is the same. took off watch at 5:30 am its now 8:43 and im at 93%. maybe it wont get better till watchOS 6.1 is released.
That's about normal. Most people report (including myself) about 3.5% per hour with AOD turned on and medium usage during that time.

2pm and im now down to 60%

if i were to do a workout today my watch would probably be dead before putting it on the charger at the usual 9pm or so timeframe.

Things seem to have stabilised for me AW5 44mm Cellular.

Typically after a full day I'm left with 50% battery left from wake up to sleep. So that is 7am - 11pm approx. Usage in-between varies but seems to have little affect on the battery life.

AOD - ON
Background - on for most apps
Sound monitor - On
Face - Infograph with White face OFF
Brightness - Medium - Raise to brighten and touch on.
Siri raise to speak - On
Cellular - Not configured

Now that is going to struggle with 2 day battery life but I have a watch with an Always On Display making the watch far more natural to use for me in meetings and doing workouts.

My wife by comparison uses her watch a bit less that me and has a new AW4 40mm and typically has 70-80% left. But she doesn't have AOD.

Could I turn off AOD if I know I need 2 days battery life when I go away overnight, yes but for all other times having 50% left is still great for me. Would I like more if there is a fix in 6.1 absolutely but its still pretty darn good as it is.

Defeating the purpose of having a smart watch a bit arn't you?

nope. just dont need every feature turned on all the time.

So

so your watch isn’t connected to your phone at all? Sooooo... it’s just a watch? Why even bother?

oh no, i connect it to my phone when i need data or let my reminders sync at least once a day. i just dont need everything turned on all the time.

Think my battery is still wrong

Woke up with it on 84% and charged to 99% and still on 99%

It died again on 17%...can’t get to apple for a few weeks at least. Dunno if to take it in or wait for software update

It seems to die by 21-22.00 now

That shouldn’t matter. With my series 4 I never dropped below 80% until around 3pm doing the same things. I use maps quite often and will most likely run later this evening and the battery will be toast by then.
I’m thinking about exchanging my 5 for a 4 I have 9 days left to do it.series 4 cellular has good battery life? i even turned off cellular on my 5 while at work so it’s using wifi and still battery just drains and i’m barley using it.

I have a ritual when I come home after work, where I make myself a nice cup of coffee, sit in the couch and drink it while checking out the news. Next to my couch, on a small table, is my AW-charger (on a stand). Since I'm sitting down and not doing a lot, the watch goes on the charger for 30-40 minutes, that is more than enough charging to get 24 hrs of battery without losing any standing hours, calories and I can sleep with the watch and use it as my wake up alarm.

Only note for this topic: it's an AW S4 and I was wondering if AW S5 people have a similar charging routine and I want to know if 40 minutes a day is enough charging for the watch for you.

went to bed with 8% battery life left. hopefully that doesnt happen again. looking forward to 6.1 whenever it does get released

My S5 battery life seems to be essentially the same as my S4 was when the AOD is off.

I had really bad battery life when I first got the S5. Much better now (on 6.01), and while it's not the same as my prior S3 and S4 with the AOD on, it's been getting me from wake to bed with ~25-35% to spare (high end of that if my workouts and LTE usage are limited for the day, lower end of that if I do 120+ minutes of workout or more than short stints on LTE).

With the AOD off (which I tried for short periods for experimental purposes), it seems to be about the same as my S4 on watchOS 6 was.

damn well maybe i’ll just keep it then and hope it gets better but it came off charge at 5 am and it’s not even 11 am and it’s at 77 percent just used it for a few txt messages and that’s it also AOD is off.I would think that if it’s not really in use then why would the battery drain for no reason? my iphone when it just sits not in use the battery barley goes down do you know what i mean?

I do something similar, except I do it when I'm laying in bed right before I go to sleep. Did it for the AW 4 and now the AW 5. Put in on the charger while I lay in bed playing my Switch from about 2100 to 2200, take it off and wear it, then put it back on the charger about the same time the next night. These past couple of days I am using sitting about 15-20% by time 2100 rolls around.

Watch settings include always on display, background refresh, infrograph with every complication spot used, noise detection off (find it to be completely pointless for me). My day starts and 0500 and includes 40 - 60 mins of exercise 6 days a week using either the built-in workout app or the Nike Training Club app. Haven't done any runs yet, to see how battery life lasts. I will start running again next week.

I work from home. So I chuck mine on charge next to me whenever I feel the need
