I have used the Watch for Tesla app for many of these shortcuts. I can’t delete it yet as the Tesla shortcuts mostly work. The command that I use a lot is open/close trunk which doesn’t work for some reason but does work on the Watch For Tesla app. The rest of the commands from the Tesla app work as expected.

For instance, let's say I've got my trusty Model 3 named "Mystique" and the sleek Y known as "Mando." I could easily name a shortcut "Unlock Mando," but what if I feel like driving the Mystique that day? The tricky part is that there doesn't appear to be an option within the shortcut to select the specific car.

Am I missing something here, or is this a puzzle we're all collectively trying to solve? Your thoughts and insights would be greatly appreciated! Let's put our heads together and figure this out.

Those shortcuts are really cool. Tesla is miles ahead of the competition with what they are doing.
And yet.... so damn control freaky locked down that they make Apple look like the FOSS crowd.

I test drove a Performance Model 3, and as impressive as the acceleration is, the complete and utter inability to get that thing to spin the wheels, or slide sideways at all without it cutting the power output on you, or basically have any fun whatsoever with this high powered sports car, renders it a straight up non-starter for me. A performance car that outright refuses to perform, unless your idea of performance is simple straight line acceleration, sheesh.

I'm still waiting for someone to build an electric car that I actually want to own. If I'm paying the same price as a non-BEV sports car, then I may as well be getting a sports car. And by sports car, it needs to be not just powerful, but lightweight, low range (yeah, I don't need 500 miles range thanks - I'll be in a plane if I'm going that far - and every extra mile of range in a BEV adds horrendous cost and weight - quite frankly, I don't even need 200 miles of range - here's an idea, how about making mileage range a highly customisable option, ranging from insanely low (making the car super lightweight, have epic handling, and cheap) to insanely high (for those that want to drive across a continent without stopping, and don't care how heavy, sluggish, and expensive their beast is)), low to the ground (as in, not an SUV, which are nothing more than standard passenger cars but raised up off the ground in a vain attempt to look off-roadish, but meanwhile horrifically compromising the handling), and have a hatchback form factor so that I can fit people and surfboards and things in it.
 
All the Tesla haters scared that Tesla is putting their favorite legacy automaker out of business probably.
 
Going to have to disagree with you on that. Tesla maps is the worst mapping experience I've ever had.

Apple Maps is years ahead of Tesla maps.
Tesla uses google maps for routes. You're basically arguing Apple Maps is light years ahead of Google Maps.

I find shortcuts fairly clunky, and looking at it again following this announcement it still is
Siri doesn’t do much for me either, other than my watch spontaneously interrupting conversations

I don’t know. Tesla doesn’t seem any more locked down than any other auto. You can make changes to the car but it’s time and money- like any other car.

Search the tube for model 3 performance drift. But yeah, different strokes for different folks.

The M3P is a street car not really built with the same limitations as cars that go well on the track but suffer on the street. The M3P is a street car that can be taken to the track in a limited capacity. If your idea is to take a car to the track first and street drive second the M3P is not your best choice of a car.

EVs are a long way from your ideal, but I’m sure the new Cadillac EV will go off road. In my case the fed tax credit, state tax credit and no sales tax made my purchase a no brainer after ridiculing the brand endlessly. It’s a fantastic street car and a bad track car. It will never see the track so I don’t care. Fill ups at my house are a couple of bucks. I realize EVs aren’t for everybody but for me it was right time.

Is this a typo or am I out of the loop on what a Frunk is?
If you are from Europe, I think they call it the Froot (Front Boot). In the USA, as others have said, the Frunk is the “Front Trunk”. I don’t know why it is the “Boot” in Europe and the “Trunk” in the USA.

These are all fair points. You're up my neck of the woods so you may remember a few incidents over the last couple of years of Teslas catching fire in Metro Vancouver, trapping the occupants inside. Those were thoroughly investigated and deemed not to be a fault of the powertrain/battery packs but rather some auxiliary components that failed and set fire. It's a good example of both the safety and robustness of EV powertrains and the shabby build quality of the Fremont Trabants.

Actually I can only find reports of one fire in greater Vancouver.

There's 10,000 gas car fires a year in Canada.

Your cherry picking sucks, your conclusions suck, your bias shows, and you know it.

I was agreeing with you that EVs are by far evident to be the safer powertrains and gave two examples where Tesla fires were thoroughly investigated and it was deemed not to be a failure of the powertrains. I'm 100% pro EV if you can't read the subtext (or the actual text). As far as I'm concerned, we can't get to full electrification of consumer vehicles fast enough.

Same here, the open/close trunk does not work.

That may be your perception but it doesn't appear to be reality, at least based on ICBC registration data.

Comparisons or discussion regarding Tesla fires versus other vehicles can be a bit misleading as maintenance, age, etc. can be significant factors here. The average Tesla on the road is much newer, more expensive. has wealthier owners (therefore more likely to be properly maintained), etc. than the average car. In addition to that, of course, there have also been far more non-Teslas sold over the years than Teslas.

same problem here. open trunk from tesla shortcut does not work for me , but the open trunk from watch for Tesla in shortcut does work.
