Just how promising this company sounded several years ago, when I remember...
Why future always have to be different than what we imagine?
Dear Elon,
Focus.
can anyone else actually go to the link of this item?
several sites have posted, Tesla is selling this and for whatever reason, I just can not find the thing outside of an article.
A) Tesla fans
B) People who like battery fires
C) A & B
If you have a Sams Club membership look at the link I posted earlier. $20 for a 10,000mah Qi powerbank with two USBA ports.I was starting to look into one of these for an upcoming trip to Disney. Besides the 5W vs 7.5W does this sound like a good portable charger. Doesn’t seem practical to charge in a backpack unless you rubberband them together or can use a charging port
Thanks, I had a cheap qi charger in my car to supplement my crappy usb built in. But that charger broke so this would be great. The car usb barely keeps up when using waze and streaming music at the same timeIf you have a Sams Club membership look at the link I posted earlier. $20 for a 10,000mah Qi powerbank with two USBA ports.
I don't think I'd use a Qi charger in a backpack, too easy to get jostled. A simple 4-6" cable would be better.
Where this shines when travelling is this: At the hotel, plug the powerpack in at your night stand and set the phone on it and both will charge overnight. When leaving in the morning toss both in your bag. While yes an extra cable at the hotel room would do the job as well as the Qi charger, at $20 why not have the simplicity of not unplugging/replugging the phone when you're in and out of your room. No way I'd pay $65 for that ability though.
I saw it on the website 2-3 days ago on the main page of the Tesla Store and under the Tech section. Then today, and saw the update on your article and checked the store and saw that it was gone.
Tesla today launched a new battery-powered Qi-based wireless charger that's designed for iPhones and Android devices that support wireless charging.
Priced at $65, the Tesla Wireless Charger features a 6,000mAh battery so it can be used for charging while on the go. According to Tesla, it's been constructed using the "same design language" used in Tesla energy products like Powerwall, featuring a sleek black or white enclosure.

In addition to wireless charging, the Tesla Wireless Charger includes a built-in USB-C cable for charging USB-C Android devices. For non-USB-C devices, there's a USB-A port that can be used for faster wired charging. A built-in USB-A cable is used to charge the Wireless Charger from any USB-A port.

According to Tesla, the wireless charging is limited to 5W, which is slower than the faster 7.5W charging that is available on the iPhone X, 8, and 8 Plus. Other 5W chargers can be purchased on Amazon for as little as $10, which means Tesla is charging quite a premium for the Tesla branding and design of this accessory.

The Tesla Wireless Charger can be purchased from the Tesla website for $65.
Update: It appears Tesla may have removed the Wireless Charger from its website as the store links to the device no longer work nor does a search on the site bring it up.

Not if you keep the new Tesla wireless charger charger handy. You'll be able to charge your charger from the charger charger while on the move.
Additionally, it uses "the same design language" used in Tesla energy products like Powerwall" (i.e. it comes in black or white).
Did he ever say "OK guys lets make money by producing Model 3s" because they're not:I think he knows what he's doing. It's not like he said "Ok guys, let's drop Model 3 production goals and focus on this battery charger".

Because many people tend to be overly optimistic instead of realistic (often confused with cynicism/pessimism). The company sounded promising at first, but when you think about the costs associated with building what they were proposing, you would realize exactly what is happening right now.
I think it should be no surprise to anyone who thought about it.
What are you talking about? What is "happening right now" that is indicative of the company's demise?
One of the first vehicles developed by the company - the Model S - is the fastest production car in the world. And it's a family sedan.
Tesla is currently delivering nearly 5,000 Model 3s per week, a car which has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from industry experts and private owners alike. And it's currently one of the top 10 best-selling vehicles in the US.
Tesla installed the largest lithium-ion battery system in the world in Australia, and by doing so, it lowered the cost of operating that grid by more than 90%
Tesla built and maintains a global supercharger network consisting of thousands of charging stations that actually make it practical for electric vehicles to travel long distances.
Tesla opened up all of its patents to the world in 2014, giving away a considerable amount of intellectual property to its competitors.
Tesla's mission has always been to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. The company has achieved what most auto industry executives said was impossible just a few short years ago. By any reasonable measure, Tesla is one of the most successful endeavors of the century, and possibly even of all human history.
So please, tell me more about your "realistic" perspective on Tesla.
What is happening right now is there is a lot of backlash against Tesla ranging from Elon Musk's awkward attitude toward investors, the fact that his promises haven't been kept, and poorly focused side projects (flame thrower? this battery? why?). Tesla laid off 9% of its workforce to reduce operating costs. They've asked some suppliers to reduce costs of parts. There are a ton of caution signs here if you would look at Tesla as a public for profit company and not a non profit organization.
That's not to say they are going to fall. Caution flags only gives you an educated direction and not an infallible prediction.
The reason Tesla can sustain at the moment is due to investors, and it's a matter of time of when investors will really wear out if/when Tesla doesn't improve. I don't think the company is going to go under any time soon. Look at Uber as an example - still operating at a loss after all these years.
I agree that Tesla has great intentions for the world. It's why so many people such as yourself get irritated when people point out flaws with their business. You want to believe that good intentions is what allows a (for profit) company to prosper.
However, the reality is at the end of the day, investors don't invest into a company for free just to lose money.
The reality is that extraordinary achievements require passion, vision, patience, and dedication. And while you ramble on about investors losing money, Tesla remains one of the most valuable companies in the world.
I don't think you comprehend what is being said here.
I'm not arguing that Tesla is a bad company by any means.
You seem to be unable to grock that for profit companies exist for profit, which is why the company is receiving criticism right now. Investors are unhappy and could care less about the greater good of humanity. That is what I mean by ~"it should be no surprise why this is happening".
I'm all for Tesla's mission statement despite how awkward Elon Musk is along with his disciples.
The word is grok. And the only one missing the point here is you.
As for your opinion on Elon's demeanor? Thank you for showing your true colors.
