And not for iPad, only phone resolution. I thought Apple should give the example on how it has to bee. On every Mac platform. Pitty again,

I can’t believe this is how dull the email invite looks…

Can you send invites to non-apple users via SMS? or is it just email?

If just email its a non-starter, but a link in a SMS would get some traction

You can send it by any means: iMessage, email, WhatsApp, etc.

When you click the invite, you are taken to an iCloud login page.

It’s all very drab from the recipient’s point of view.

If I received the email above, I’d probably send it to my spam folder.

Not a single person I know uses WhatsApp, but maybe it's more common outside of the United States. Otherwise yes, I'd agree it's a platform mainly for old people at this point.

I'm french and I don't know one single person who doesn't use WhatsApp, it basically replaced SMS here.

To me, the app is missing the ability to do collaborative planning—a Doodle-style feature. At first, I thought that was its main purpose.

I won’t be using it, though. Android is still popular here, and I don’t see many people going through the hassle described in the video.

Ewww, why would you want to arrange on occasion to spend time with a bunch of other people? Have you met people?!

Edit: Ah, it just occurred to me that everyone reading this *is* one of those people. Fair enough then, you lot deserve each other.

I sent an invite via messaging/SMS and it put in a thumbnail of the background image but squashed it. That kinda sucked. There was one SMS/RCS user and the rest were iMessage users but I doubt that's what caused it.

It's a cool app , useful. I think the biggest takeaway for me is the design , VisionOS inspired, possible sneak peak into iOS 19 redesign? If you look at the Apple Sports app it's practically the same. I for one would welcome the sleek interface.

That they flat out stole from a developer who'd just been a 2024 App Award finalist

Let's please throw ZERO bouquets to the thief here (Apple)

Flagrant violation of their OWN "no copycats" rules for Apps

I haven’t downloaded the app yet, but I could see my wife and I using the app for creating birthday party invites for our kids.

Weird. Seems like something they would have come up with ten years ago, just to be mothballed in a few years because of all the established services like this out there.

Interesting app icon. You can’t tell me that’s not skeuomorphism

I’ll probably try it out sometime.
I do not have any major issues with it as an idea.

Everyone I know IRL just uses Facebook Event invites. I guess it's good to maybe give people the opportunity to move away from Facebook, but I don't see it happening.
When Meta can drop you from Facebook at any moment with no real reason, Facebook is not a reliable place to go. Plus the appalling right wing politics of Meta.

I dont get what the point of this is instead of just putting a date in a calendar and sending invites that way
