Please explain
I believe it is explained in the last paragraph of this article. :) There are probably better articles out there that go into much more detail of why. But that is a simple explanation. I always knew smaller sold state storage was slower. But not that much slower. Never really researched it though.

Lmao at people immediately dismissing this guy for attacking Apple. And no, 8 times slower is NOT NORMAL. "How many people transfer 4GB movies regularly using iTunes?"

Excuses, pathetic from Apple.

Please tell us, what is the tangible, measurable hit you take by going with 32GB? Does facebook take 8 times more to open? Your message, or your photo, take 8 times more to get sent? The 32GB seems to not be as fast in a single, synthetic metric. When transferring a 4GB movie, it took 50% more, not 800% more. Lets see whats the tangible difference with stuff you do everyday on the already fastest phones in the market, 32GB or otherwise...

This is my iPhone 7+ 32gb benchmark.

Need to start reading articles till the end

Not this guy again... he lives off these kind of stuff.

You could say the 128/256 GB models are faster, and, as anyone can see in the next video, even the 32GB model blows the competition out of the water in terms of storage speed. How many people transfer 4GB movies regularly using iTunes? If we do some everyday stuff like opening/switching apps, taking photos and videos, streaming content, is there a tangible difference between the models?

Wow

Hey, I'm just happy I don't have a paltry 16GB (12 usable) iPhone. 32GB-Gate is great....because we finally have 32GB to complain about!

Shouldn't the article read "more than 8 times"? I've never multiplied MB but 8x42 is 336 and 341>336.
Measurements like this always come with a degree of variance and general uncertainty so you'd be better off stating "approximately 8 times."

Honestly, the fact they didn't go for "more than" is a minor win in today's age of exaggerated sensationalism and superlative extremes.

Apple paid him for this because fewer people are paying for higher storage with the entry level at 32GB now instead of the measly 16GB.

Almost sounds like the 32 GB models are using some type of compressed memory algorithm.
