You need to add the repo and purchase the $2.99 upgrade from an jail broken 7.xx device. Then it'll be available to download on your iOS 8 device.

Right now you can't purchase that upgrade from iOS 8 device because cydia disable purchasing.

I have already purchased it a few months ago and have installed the beta repo. I cannot install it.

You're not understanding me.

"TetherMe for iOS 8" is a seperate paid app. If you previously purchased TetherMe it'll cost $2.99 to upgrade to "TetherMe for iOS 8." You can't do that from a jailbroken iOS 8 device because Cydia hasn't enable purchasing. (Read the red alert when you open Cydia.)

I have it running on my iPhone 6 Plus.

I have an iPad running 7.1.2 jailbroken, on my iPad 7.1.2 I added his repo and paid to upgrade to TetherMe for iOS 8. Afterwards I installed it on my iPhone 6 Plus via his repo.

According to the developers twitter, http://twitter.com/sbingner/status/527062656188837888 -- anyone who got TetherMe since April 2013 gets a free upgrade, for everyone else who is past the 18 months it's 2.99. A lot of the issues for those who can't get it on 8.0/8.1 is because Cydia doesn't have the ability to purchase enabled yet, so, as you said the only real way to get it, is on a 7.0 - 7.1 device.

Ah okay. I got mine before then which explains why I had to purchase for an upgrade.

Thanks for the info!

Thank you!
This made sense, I purchased tetherme for ios8+ on my jailbroken 7.1.2 iPad, then was able to install it in cydia on my iPhone 6 running ios 8.1

awesome. Thanks for that!

Update: had already purchased it on my 7.1.2 iPad earlier today and can straight up say it will not install on my phone running iOS 8.1. Says unable to purchase when I clearly purchased the iOS8+ version cause it says that on my receipt to Saurik. So this actually sucks. For some reason tapatalk isn't letting me upload my pictures to show I have the right version. Is there a trick to this?

Update 2: fixed it. Had to link my Cydia account to the device and that allowed me to install. Finally!

Great idea! Thanks.

TetherMe is causing my settings app to crash when I launch it. Anyone else having that same issue?

Most of the problems people see are from user error. lol. Trust me, been there. lol

I'm running it on a 5S iOS 8.1 and it works flawlessly. Might be a conflict with another installed Cydia tweak/app. Remove them one by one and see if it still causes any crashes. This is usually the case. Also, try to reinstall tetherme.

TetherMe installed alone on my iPhone 6 8.1 is crashing settings, so it's an issue with TetherMe not the other tweaks. But not a huge deal since my plan includes tethering and Apple was so good about making hotspot so easy with Mavericks and iOS 8.. don't really see a use for Tetherme anymore.

I think a lot of people use tetherme to avoid paying another fee when they have unlimited data plans. Saves $30 a month and that is a considerable amount. I get my 6+ today and after I jailbreak it I will install tetherme first and report back.

Oh makes sense I suppose, but didn't AT&T and Verizon use port screening to start detecting these things and force-convert accounts? I seem to recall a friend last year who was tethering with MyWi and he got the "We know you're tethering, you need to stop or convert to a tethering plan" message from ATT. I have used SIMs in other countries where they block the tethering feature, so I can see its usefulness there, so I guess it's good to have the extra control.

ATT has been known to do that, as I have seen several people show the texts. On Verizon, I haven't come across the issue at the time. So it just depends on your carrier and if it is worth the risk.

I jailbroke my 6+ and tetherme is working just fine on it. Unsubscribed from tethering from the carrier yesterday and have tethering with tetherme once again! I'll use it while I can.

Wait a minute if I purchased it on 7.x I will have to pay for it again? I went to this app because the developer of MyWi pulled that crap. Thankfully all developers don't do this crap because I couldn't afford to upgrade my iOS device

Well, the way I see it is we either pay $30 or whatever your carrier charge is for tethering or we can fork up a few dollars and come ahead ahead with just a few days of use.

Pull what? They're supposed to keep upgrading and making their apps compatible with your new phone and new iOS version for free forever?
If You can't afford to pay $2.99 to upgrade a very useful app then you should have got an Obama phone instead :D

It's not that I can afford it, it's the point of it. If I had to do this for every app then why upgrade when it would cost as much as the phone itself.

Most apps are free on cydia, some that are useful I don't mind kicking in a few bucks so the dev continues to upgrade and support them on newer firmware. I rather do that instead of them abandoning them completely. A phone itself costs $749 so I really doubt you'd ever pay anywhere near a fraction of that.
I wouldn't even consider staying on old iOS version just to avoid a few upgrade charges by hacks that I enjoy and use every day.
I'm not that much of a cheapskate:)

For me it's the principle of it. 2.99 isn't much at all but when other devs start doing this it's going to start costing more and more. I have 4 apps in Cydia that I purchased and all want more money. Well 3G unrestrictor updated without a charge but the other 3 want more.

I'll try again since no one responded to my first post: didn't 8.1 do away with the need for tethering apps?? The personal hotspot feature of 8.1 was supposed to allow us to share our data with any other device. I have Verizon, which normally charges for tethering at the rate of $30 per month, but after 8.1 the personal hotspot works perfectly on my iPad RMini. The hotspot did NOT work prior to 8.1.

To me it's well worth the very little money for great updates such as 3gunrestrictor, mywi and a few others.
Even if bitesms charged an upgrade fee id kick in.
The principle is they didn't promise you they will keep supporting your future phone purchases for life and free iOS firmware updates.
They sell you tetherme for iOS 7 for example.
Not tetherme iOS 7-8-9 and 10 for $2.99
Up to you though. Obviously we see things different.
What's $2-3? About a cup of coffee.

I can't get it to install it's showing up as purchased but not compatible message. Installed that other tethering app it installs just fine but doesn't seem to broadcast.
