I'll try again since no one responded to my first post: didn't 8.1 do away with the need for tethering apps?? The personal hotspot feature of 8.1 was supposed to allow us to share our data with any other device. I have Verizon, which normally charges for tethering at the rate of $30 per month, but after 8.1 the personal hotspot works perfectly on my iPad RMini. The hotspot did NOT work prior to 8.1.

Well if you have Verizon and an unlimited data plan then you have to pay to tether and there are no exceptions to that, if you are stock. iOS 8.1 doesn't circumvent having to pay for tethering. If you are on a shared data plan then that includes tethering and you shouldn't need an app. I think most of us using this app are unlimited data users or users who would have to pay to tether our data.

----------

I can't get it to install it's showing up as purchased but not compatible message. Installed that other tethering app it installs just fine but doesn't seem to broadcast.

Did you make sure your device is linked to your Cydia account? I could only install after I was linked. Says device incompatible, but will still install.

Yes it's linked, and shows officially purchased. Almost positive I just purchased within a year or less. I'd have to get out my iPad and see if I would indeed need to purchase again.

This is what I see on my 6+. Except before I installed, "Modify" said "Install". I had to purchase it on my 7.1.2 iPad bc I never purchased it before. I used another app.

I think I see the issue. You have to purchase the new version on a device still running 7.1.2 and jailbroken. Then the new version will install. They disabled purchasing on iOS 8.1 for now until everything is stable.

Are you speaking from actual experience, or just what you think the answer is?

I have an unlimited data SIM from my iP5 in my RMini. I do NOT pay for tethering....I had it cancelled when I JB'd my iP5 and added TetherMe last year. Before 8.1, I attempted to turn on the hotspot in the Mini, and it didn't work. After 8.1 the hotspot works perfectly, AND I'M STILL NOT PAYING VERIZON FOR TETHERING.

Have any of you actually tried this??

So what you are saying is you are on Verizon's old UDP and your stock or jailbroken device has a working hotspot WITHOUT any app that enables tethering from Cydia? Bc my new device did not even have the hotspot in settings until I installed tetherme bc I unsubscribed from the hotspot the day before. Just trying to clarify bc this would be crazy if we could tether without paying or even having to jailbreak and be on an unlimited data plan.

The Personal Hotspot in 8.1 is at Settings > Cellular.

Yes, I have a STOCK 8.1 Mini, and now my Personal Hotspot works perfectly without paying for tethering.

The Personal Hotspot in 8.1 is at Settings > Cellular.

I have it there, too, but my Mini also has "Personal Hotspot" under "Settings," just below "Cellular Data"

I did this with my iPad 3 back in the day.

Since the iPad 3 iPads always offered hotspot for free for some reason when you sim swapped. I'm not sure why Verizon doesn't regulate iPad hotspot but that's how it's been. This is not an iOS 8 feature.

You may be 100% correct, but then why did my iPad Hotspot not work under 8.0.2 and worked under 8.1 when Apple activated the Personal Hotspot feature?

By the way, adding that repo is not possible at the moment. Says it's not available.

Same here.

I am in a bit of a bind, as there are only a few days left to upgrade my 7.1.2 iphone to ios8.1 and get it jailbroken before Apple releases 8.1.1 and patches the jailbreak.

What do you suggest?

Jailbreak as quickly as you can. Tetherme will be available to purchase soon. It's not worth losing out on the ability to JB just for this one app that will be made available soon.

There is no may I know for a fact lol, when the iPad 3 came out I bought a sim adapter and swapped back and forth between my iPhone and iPad while turning on hot spot on my iPad so I could use my phone without a SIM card.

As for 8.0.2 it must of been a glitch and apple fixed it.

All i know is i have the hotspot app like everyone else who has a ip6 plus and i just tried it and connected 3 things to it and worked. It did not say call sprint or you will will be charged it just works. Now i am not on umlinited but i have 40 gigs to share and we never get close to the 40 Gigs.

This is the 1 right under Cellular. Works fine with sprint and again i do not pay for hotspot and when i tured it on it just worked

I made the mistake of updating all 3 of my jailbroken devices to 8.1 at the same time so I can't buy Tetherme until purchasing is enabled in Cydia.

I was able to install MyWi 8.0 intead.

I'm sure that is due to your plan. Seems that most shared data plans have the hotspot feature included with them. Haven't been with sprint in a few years, but I would think it works the same as Verizon and their shared data with hotspot.

Not Working for me

It is just me or the repo is not working anymore?

Can someone verify?
