Gianslup,
I am one of the ones who was able to return my 3 week old 13" alum macbook for the 13" Macbook Pro. Like you the only PC I had ever owned was a windows PC and it was acting very sluggish so one day while shopping in the mall I went into the apple store for the first time and spent over an hour with a sales person learning what an apple product can do. I was reluctant at first because of the price tag and after being assured they never go on sale etc etc and the fact that I was blown away by what I saw I went ahead and purchased the 2.0 alum Macbook.
Had I know about macrumors before hand I would have known better but I didn't find this site until after I had already exchanged my laptop. I was reading the forums on the apple website and found this via a link someone there had posted. BTW, I love this forum.. you guys all rock and the info and help here is outstanding!!!
When I powered up my laptop on the 8th my home page (google news) was highlighting the new laptops...I was mortified! The next day I called the apple store and explained that I was disappointed the salesperson didn't make me aware of this WWDC thing that happens annually and advise me to hold off 3 weeks and see what happens...I was in no hurry to buy.
The person on the phone verified my purchase date and said since it's been 3 weeks I can't waive the restock fee but if you can bring it in tonight you can get a refund to your cc or have the money put on a giftcard.
I showed up there that night, gave them the name of who I spoke to and was told if I wanted to upsize to a more expensive model I wouldn't have to pay the restock fee but I opted to stay with the 13" because with the price drop (100.00) and the 129.90 restock fee it was only going to be 30ish dollars out of pocket to swap.
Gianslup don't procrastinate any longer then you have... you could lose out.
There is a very good chance you will get to swap with a restock fee or get a credit on the price drop
if you call or go
NOW.
Good luck !
