I don't know what is 'precise' about a loud keyboard with non-uniform pressure and sticking keys. I think of this latest 'upgrade' as one of the worst design decisions apple has made in quite a while. which is saying something--the touch-bar is worthless.

It's precise because you get consistent feedback wherever you hit a key.
It's only loud if you smash your fingers onto it, and even then it's not an issue.
Pressure is uniform on mine and no keys are sticking.
Personally, I think it's the best keyboard Apple ever made - but even if it isn't, it certainly isn't half as bad as some people try to make it. It's an upgrade to previous laptop keyboards, including the ones on previous MacBook Pros.

Touch Bar is very useful if you give it time.

I hate the battery life, I hate the crappy overall power of the MacBook Pro, I hate the lack of ports, but the keyboard...

Unless you're talking about the nTB MBP, the new MacBook Pros have the largest number of universal ports on any laptop, and they are among the most powerful laptops in their class.

i honestly cannot imagine someone liking it. And i'd love to hear how the Touchbar is useful. my best guess is that you are a Russian hacker bot that Apple is paying to disagree with negative reviews, but hey, if yours doesn't stick and you like a keyboard that's loud as ^&*, then, ya know, dasvidaniya. :)

The reality is, its just mediocre laptop, its not up there with the best. I think what the Mac has going for it right now is macOS. The hardware side has taken a nosedive. Don't worry, you will see Apple revert to sensible designs. Its already happening with the Mac Pro. The MacBook Pro is next. Those defending have to, you can't spend that kinda money then call it junk, thats just awkward.

I wasn't THAT worried about the negative feedback, since I had butterfly gen 1 keyboard on my 2015 12" retina macbook

its definitely way nicer than that (but also similar)

Look, honesty doesn't always fly here without anger, but I'll let fly.

1) Apple tested the new Keyboard on many human beings and machines and was correctly confident that it would be a hit. And it is.
2) These forums attract all types of people and we get a lot of the "hater" types here. These folk will basically attack what they don't own or can't afford. You'll find them in Porsche and Mazda forums or anywhere a cool new product comes to life.
3) I've yet to meet a soul in the real world that doesn't love or like the new keyboard design. In a forum like this you can easily get the wrong info.

I don't listen to anyone who doesn't own a product. Period. That goes for cars, boats, cameras, telescopes and computers too.

A few thousand bucks is nothing to me. If I don't like a product I return it. I recently bought a Nikon 80-400 VR lens for 2300 dollars. I wanted to like it, but it's an awful lens for my usage. I sent it back and gave it a rotten review, though I own a ton of Nikon stuff. I have zero loyalty to any brand and that goes for Apple...who just happens to have released the best MBP ever and with the best keyboard as well.

I love the tactile feel of the new keyboard.

There is one thing I don't enjoy about the new keyboard,
and it's that some of the keys make a higher-pitched
clicking noise than normal.

Not a deal-breaker, but it does annoy me.

I also like it a lot. I'm actually able to type a lot faster, than the old one - just like the magic keyboard 2, but a bit better.
I guess people who dont like the keyboard, are the ones who type with 2 fingers at a time :p

I have had both the 2015 and 2016 12" MacBooks and now the 13" TB Pro and I love the keyboards! This is the most refined of them. I use it to write (working on a novel) and I have no issues with it--beyond my personal typing issues :)
A very good keyboard!

What do you guys think about the difference between the 15" and 13" Keyboards?

I find them to be a bit different in terms of how the entire top case responds and flexes or doesn't.

I cannot stand the keyboard on the new 13" MBP and this is after using it for several months. I not only dont like the loud and cheap sounding click but the tactile feedback is just terrible. What I do like, on the other hand, is the screen, I'm really impressed by its performance when exposed to direct sunlight.
Just my 2 cents...

I have both versions and I never noticed much difference.

Can't agree with you on the keyboards, which I love.

But yeah...the screen is crazy. I can sit pool-side in blazing sun and still see the screen fine. My 2015 rMBP was not nearly as good. I think it's the contrast upgrade that is key.

I like the keyboard, and I do coding on it a lot. I find the tactile feedback way less effort to work through than the current 2015 work laptop that I am typing on right now.

Definitely better contrast than previous rMBP's, but is it also less buffer between display and glass? appears so,

I find it a little bit too noisy from time to time on the Macbook Pro 15" but the one on the 13" is slightly better only by a bit.

Hmm...
Interestingly the noise has already been a problem two nights in a row here in my household..

:-(

I mainly think it's a bummer because Apple is all about this minimalism and it would be amazing to have some minimalism as it pertains to sound from the devices also.

That was a big driving factor behind the new Mac Pro design of the time and I think they sort of missed on that with this keyboard

This is how I feel about the new keyboards but I do like the idea and the current 2nd gen Butterfly keyboard better than the 1st gen, but it would be better is the noise is better.

Agreed.
I was at a local Mac store today (third party, not Apple store) and spent another hour going between Magic Keyboard, Previous gen Laptop KB and the current 2016 MBP keyboards and my conclusion was basically..

I like them all. When I sit at one and get going, I find them all good. If I had to pick a favorite it would probably be the Magic Keyboard, but I do like the 2016 feel, but really really hate the noise.

That said, I do find myself still most accurate over a longer time period on the previous gen (2015 laptop) keyboard, likely because the increased travel means I can sort of "think" with my fingers and not register inputs I don't truly mean when typing. Typing lighter is the key, but even then, I can't really "rest" my fingers on the 2016 boards in the same way I enjoy doing on the 2015 and before KB's

Ultimately...They are all great basically. haha

i am sure 10 years from now, nobody will love the previous keyboards from the way they look, the space between the key, the smaller keys, the light bleed and the longer travel that makes you type a little bit slower

Heck - Who knows if keyboards are really even a thing in 10 years!
I think they will be, but it could be a minority who's even using or interested in them.

I love the feel of the MBP (2016/17) keyboard, but i really hate how sensitive to dust and other things it is. in 6 months there are 2 broken keys, and numerous other malfunctioning keys. kinda disappointed for a 2.6k machine
