bye bye Satan....I don't think Pittsburgh will miss you and your sub-par goal scoring ability and your non-existent defensive ability.

The Pens are obviously clearing room for a new player...could it be Geurin??? I have no idea...

Trade deadline day.I'd love to see the Flyers get Jay Bouwmeester:) and dump Marty Biron:cool:

Peace

Not gonna happen. Boumeester isn't much of a goalie. :D

The Flyers will stick with Biron- he's a clutch goalie. Have you forgotten how well he played last year in the playoffs? And geez, he's got 30 wins with 5 shutouts this season......they just have to keep him out of OT (9 OT losses) in the regular season, and everything will be fine.....

Agreed. He's the Sidney Crosby of the NHL. Oh, wait......

More accurately, he's what the NHL hoped Crosby would be, instead of just the great player (with a boring personality who is very good at chirping at the refs) that he is.

It has begun..... the Devils traded defencemen with Atlanta today...... looks like they're making a run for the Cup again.....

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Right. lol

It's true. Crosby just cries. I think it's time for people to stop comparing him to Gretzky. While Crosby is good, AO is far superior.

Devils are scary, I mean Marty is coming back and they've been filthy without him.

Sorry..... had to add this...... it's the best "I-scored-my-first-NHL-goal-ever!!!!!" face I've ever seen (or it's the best "you-mean-we-actually-won-a-game?!?!" disbelief-face ever):

It's both. I'm just happy we manage to put the puck in the net.

Why do you think the Isles got rid of him? We had a saying, anytime Satan scored we'd say "We Have A Miro Sighting!"

What the hell happened to him?

Columbus acquires F Antoine Vermette from The Sens for Pascal Leclaire and a 2009 2nd round pick

Flames get back Jordan Leopold from the Avs for Lawerence Nychoalt, prospect and a draft pick

its coming down to just a couple points for first in league and presidents trophy.

You guys think the wings will win tonight?

Bruins traded Pettri Nokelainen to Anaheim for Steve Montador

They also traded Matt Lashoff and Martins Karsums to Tampa Bay for Mark Recchi and a 2010 2nd round pick.

I'd say I'm somewhat pleased with the moves that the Leafs made. They didn't do anything too exciting, but Burke kept his word.

They bought a draft pick from Tampa, got a so-so goalie from the Sens in order to lose more games (although Gerber won his first game with the Leafs, and wore his Senators-themed mask which was strange to see), and gave the Rangers Antropov's never-ending potential (it never seems to actually arrive).

Too bad Dominic Moore had to go, but he was asking for more than Burke was willing to pay. I can see him re-signing with the Leafs this summer- he's a hometown guy.

In the end, the Leafs ended up with a bunch of draft picks, which is what Burke wants- he wants to start building the club his way.

Lose Leafs Lose- let's get that high draft pick.......

I am clearly posting for my own entertainment.

What a strange night in the NHL (besides the Leafs losing):

Columbus 8, Detroit 2 - wow, did I read that right?
Rick Nash with the hat trick.

Islanders 7, Devils 3 - did I read that right? Did I read that right the second time? Let me check again..... yup, it's right.
Sean Bergenheim with the hat trick. Who?

Carolina 9, Tampa Bay 3 - after blowing out Calgary 6-1 the night before. Carolina has scored 15 goals in 2 games in 2 nights!!! I think Eric Cole was the missing piece they needed back
Eric Staal 4G 2A
And, seriously: Eric Cole, 4A

Lots of goals scored on Saturday.... 78 goals in total from 10 games..... an average of 7.8 goals/game (whee, I did math). I wonder what the record is for the most goals in a day of the NHL and what the record is for the highest goals/game average ratio?

Alas you're not.

Mikey enjoys seeing the Wings get absolutely destroyed like that. :D

Who said the Isles could do that?!?!?! I'm just shocked that happened. And yes Sean who? He is hit or miss with Isles fans. He apparently added 20lbs of muscle this past off season to get tougher. The bad news is that my boy Trent Hunter (who is always in the top 5 in league in hits and is big fan favorite) has a fractured ankle and will be gone for the rest of the year. He and Richard park are/were rumored to be next in line for the "C"

Erik Cole.... nah they didn't need him

EDIT: Trent seems to be having an off year... perhaps due to the new system. He currently is 41st in the league in hits with 135.

This is the preplay off hockey. Teams are changing the strategies, styles, and attacking the offensive play. With that the intel on teams needs to be looked at again. The play is getting more physical, the refs are letting more go, more 5 on 5 play.
Watching many games as of late, the defensemen on a number of teams looks tired. Power plays the 4th forward is being replaced with a second d, more shots from the points.

tired D.
On 2 on 2 and especially 3 on 2 rushes the D seem to be placing their focus on the puck carrier which i s allowing the offensive players to slip behind the D and setting up on the far corner for the open net.
Also, more players are setting up in :gretzky office: right behind the net freezing the D and allowing the pass to the slot. the other thing is more and more teams are playing a cycling offense which confuses the D coverage. the bruins were very effective in the beginning of the season but lately have been challenged as toher Teams seem to have figured out their offensive cycling. but the B's are still very good at it when they can get it going.

Goalies seem to be coming out a lot more to cut down the angles but leaving the far side of the net open allowing the pass/shot to be more effective.

Detroit has not adapted to the change in play yet. They are placing far toomuchon their offensive and letting their D flounder. They have had some miserable games lately.

I haven't seen a good dance lately. Seems the thugs are too busy playing hockey.

Brodeur has a chance to tie Patrick Roy's record for all-time wins by a goaltender tonight. In Montreal. His hometown. With Roy in attendance.

Roy visited him this morning to wish him luck.

If Brodeur wins tonight, he has a chance to break the record on Tuesday. On St. Patrick's day. St. Patrick was Roy's nickname.

Is someone writing this stuff?

As I told my friends...

Marty = God

Congrats Marty for tying Patrick's record tonight. Goodluck on Tuesday. Also.. what a game tonight in Toronto. Woot Leafs. I wish I could cheer for the Leafs like that more often.

Yeah, what a blow out (on both sides). I think both teams forgot what defenseman are for. Grabowski must have been pissed at Kuleman when he was told that his 2nd goal of the night went off of Kuleman's skate. No 1st hat trick of his career for him.....

Even in the loss, Olli Jokinen had 3 goals and 2 assists!

The Leafs can't do anything right. They're SUPPOSED TO LOSE every game until the end of the season, not win 8-6 against Calgary!! I guess it would be hard not to cheer for them in such a crazy game though. I'm sure I would be too.

Congrats to Marty Brodeur! 551 Wins!!! He will get to 600 guaranteed.

Guaranteed. And the way he's playing, he'll probably get to 650. It's amazing that a little more than 18% of his wins are shutouts (100 SO's, 551 W's).

Check out this creative shootout goal by a kid named Linus Omark:

Youtube link

I looked for it because it has caused the KHL to become interested in signing him, and it has caused negotiations to become "underway" with the Oilers, the NHL team that drafted him. Amazing how one cool goal can land you a million dollars. Article.

am I the only one who thinks Corry Perry is a sorry excuse for a human being? He does not deserve to be in this leaguge; he is a dirty whinny, cheap shot punk who is going to get what he deserves one day

looks like tonight is to or do for the rangers. Hope golf season doesn't start just yet ;)
Although it won' matter if they play boston, it will be quick and painful. Washington... maybe go to 5 games.
