People buy terrible products. Its as simple as that. I didn't say the 6S was terrible, just that 16GB as the base model is a compete and utter rip off.

The 16GB is the best selling model.

Yes people buy horrible products that are cheap all the time. But not $650 products. Tell me a horrible product that sold for $650 and sold over 100,000,000 units the last 2 years.

So now you are ripping off 64/128 GB customers.

Is that the way you treat your customers? Give the customers who buy the most expensive product the middle finger?

You are charging the 64GB guys $100 for 32GB more. Last year they got 48GB.
You are charging the 128GB guys $200 for 96GB more. Last year they got 112GB.

Really? Thats your plan?

You've repeatedly told me that most people buy a 16 GB phone, so you want the majority of people to be ripped off but not the supposedly small number who buy more expensive phones?

Even then they're not being ripped off. They get to buy the model they want at the price they have always paid.

The 6S in 16gb is dodgy deal when you're paying that much for 16GB of storage. People buy it because its cheap. Most people buy the base model of any product, because its cheap.

FACT: There are people on this planet that only need 16GB

FACT: There are MANY of these people since the 16GB is their best selling model.

FACT: It is not your God given right to own an iPhone and especially not a 32 GB iPhone.

My facts are Apple revenue, profit, profit margin, iPhone unit sales, ect.

They all support that 16GB is not a ripoff product.
One doesn't imply the other. You seem to think (or simply assume) that there's a meaningful connection, and a fairly direct one at that, but that doesn't mean that there actually is.

just state your position.

Are you okay with giving the 64/128 GB users less value than last year?

People buy 64GB because they need more storage than 32GB. You could say the same thing currently, that Apple charges $100 for 48GB going to the 64GB model, but for $100 you can get 64GB by going to the 128GB model. How dare Apple charge more per GB to their customers for the middle model?

Those might all be facts, but none of those provide any type of argument for not moving on to 32 GB being the base model (as 16 GB was moved to after 8 GB at one point).

Yes they do. If the 16GB was such a terrible product people would stop buying them.

Good marketing WILL absolutely help in selling terrible products.

Fortunately (for my wallet), Steve Jobs was MUCH better at selling than Tim Cook is. Tim is somewhat succeeding in making me want the new iPhone. Steve would have convinced me I needed it.

So the difference is that now I'm actually stopping to think before buying, and realizing that I'd be getting a raw deal if I bought it.

It's also the first time in 5 years I'm considering switching to Android, but am trapped in the Apple ecosystem, sadly.

Total and utter BS.

I have a 6+ and it has amazing performance. Read all the professional reviews and none of them say the performance sucks.
Rofl like we should be believing "professional reviews" when previous reviewers who dare criticized the great apple have suddenly found themselves without invitations to future apple events.

you seriously think a normal guy on the street can tell the difference between a 750p display and a 1080p display on a 4.7 inch phone held at normal distance?

Hold up an S6 edge next to an iPhone 6 and then tell me there is no difference.

Also I'd be interested in your definition of a 'normal guy on the street'. People are much more tech literate these days than they used to be.

The people I believe you are referring to that can't tell the difference are the elderly, mums and children. Actually scratch that I reckon children could notice the difference.

Oh lord.

Another person digging Steve Jobs out of his grave. Let the poor man rest in peace already.

I'm sorry but Apple is more successful than ever with Cook at the helm. The stock price is up 100% since Jobs death. Revenue is up 100% since his death. The iPhone is selling TRIPLE the units as when Jobs was alive.

Seems like you are just a softy for Steve's sales pitch. Which is fine.

FACT: There are many of these people as the iPad Mini 1 sold very well into 2015 as the best selling iPad Mini Model.

So based on your logic, why the hell is Apple selling the base iPad Air 2, iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4 with A8 and A9s if a lot of people only need an A5 chip

*Disclaimer, I don't believe in this logic, just trying to mirror what the OP is trying to argue*

You are assuming that they are doing that because that's the best thing that works for them rather than that's the cheapest thing that works for them. If 32 GB would be the base model, it's likely even more 32 GB phones would be sold than even the 16 GB have been selling so far...so by that assumptive logic that means that would be even better as it would be the biggest seller.

No premium phone in 2015 should have 16GB. Just as no Mac should be shipped with 4GB RAM or 64GB SSD storage or a single core CPU.

I doesn't matter if there still people who are not that demanding. (I personally still own and use a 16GB iPhone). It is just inappropriate and it is there only to improve profit margins. 16GB phone will inevitably cause a frustration and bad customer experience

Profit and revenue means nothing when Apple is ruining the customer experience with stunts like 1GB of ram in the iPhone 6 and the 16GB base model for the 6S.

Apple is meant to be renowned or user experience NOT profit. Arguably their profit has come from offering products that have the best user experience possible.
