I have a dual 2.0 G5 EDU institutional order placed July 24, was to ship "on or before Oct. 3" and was told this AM it was being built. I noticed online there is a problem with the credit card processing so I will call tomorrow AM to clear that up, but hopefully this will ship tomorrow. I upgraded my shipping to next day, so I should have this by Friday.
This is very sweet as last time Apple announced a new product and I ordered early through EDU store, I learned of retail orders that were placed 2 weeks AFTER my order shipped before mine. So it looks like things have come full circle.![]()

My CC was preauthorized this morning, exactly one month after it was last preauth, so I thought that is all this was. But just to make sure I emailed my sales rep this morning and she confirmed it was being built, but added she did not know when this would ship. I cannot say if this will ship tomorrow, and the web order status page STILL says shipping "on or before 10/3," but at the top instead of saying "open" it says "Action Required: WE ARE UNABLE TO OBTAIN AN AUTHORIZATION FOR THE CREDIT CARD YOU PROVIDED. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR CARD ISSUING BANK." Well, it was a successful preauthorized this morning, so I have a hunch I know what the problem is and will call in the AM to clear it up.Originally posted by prajnaparamita
ARE YOU SURE?????
I ordered it the same day and my estimate shipping is 10/3!!
OMG!OMG!OMG!
........No, I shouldn't be too excited. I haven't recieved anything yet. And I know for sure the life isn't that easy.
Mine was a CTO, with the changes being Radeon 9800, Combo drive instead of SuperDrive, and no modem.Originally posted by ledzep37
Was your order a stock order or a CTO (and if so, what options did you order)?

What's CTO? I gather it's the same as BTO. Change To Order? Custom To Order? Just wondering.

Right now part of me is thinking "Well, I've practically waited for four years so what's another month and a half?"

But the other part of me is thinking "Dude! I've been waiting for four years, get it to me NOW god dammit!!!"

No... PC's do not have ADC ports! I use my Apple Display with the ADC to DVI converter that Apple sells for 100 bucks. Apple screen are soooo... nice.
Well, freaky57 just made an error and should have said "DVI to ADC adapter" which allows Apple ADC displays to be used on PC's, and those cost $100. The ADC to DVI, to allow a DVI LCD display to be connected to the Mac's ADC port on the video card, that costs $40.Originally posted by thatguy_youknow
No offense but i think this guy is full of s***. The ADC to DVI is only 40 bucks and musicmatch is not that bad if it is all you have. Why make stuff up.'

He meant, that it has to be in windows format for him to manage it with musicmatch, but then it is incompatible with his mac friends, but i think he should have kept it until his mac came, then reformatted.

Oh, and the scary thing is, in 2023, a 22GHz machine will no doubt be very slow - I'm sure some sort of "optical psychic computer" will be around by then. And people will still be waiting for their 15" G5 PowerBook updates...

I'll be more than happy to oblige assuming I get this credit card issue sorted today and my dual G5 actually ships. Darn EDU store doesn't open until 7:30 AM. I discovered the problem at 6:55PM last night, and of course they closed at 6:30...Originally posted by esheep2001
Well, I for one am not going to believe that the dual machines are shipping until I see some pictures somewhere of one being unpacked and in a users home or office. In fact I'd even be happy of a pic of one in a Apple store.

Because in that month and a half the value of the G5, both real and imaginary, which is currently being suspended by hype and suspense (among other things), will start to fall, especially as we get closer to the end of the year and the emergence of the 3GHz G5 (be it a 970 or not).
