i have always wondered why every Norwegian i know refers to cycling as bicycleing.

is it what it is in Norwegian or is it a common mistake in translation.
It's probably because we use both our feet... :p

Seriously, I have no idea, maybe because in Norwegian a bicycle is called "sykkel" and the Norwegian "sykling" just naturally becomes bicycling... even if cycling would be the logical choice... hmm... he...ck, maybe it's just because most of us have English as our second language... ;)

Ok, now that this thread's starting to die out, I'll post my 20 tidbits... more for the purpose of seeing if I can come up with 20 decent facts than for anyone to read.

1. I'm in the minority on this forum (female).
2. I'm 28 years old.
3. I have a degree in English and I'm fairly anal about spelling and grammar, particularly in e-mails at work.
4. I work in PR for a large insurance co. I dislike the corporate setting very much and want out.
5. I want to move out West, preferably to Colorado or Idaho.
6. I want to accomplish #5 within the next two years.
7. I want to accomplish #5 because I love the outdoors - I like to backpack and hike and I especially like to do those things in the mountains.

11. I have a beautiful but wild and naughty cat named Papillon (after the book by Henri Charriere).
12. I'm not married but have been with the same person for almost 8 years now. We're in no real hurry to get married and we're tired of people asking us when we're getting married.
13. I don't own a TV and hope to never own one again during my lifetime. I've been happily TV-less for about 6 years now.
14. I like modern furniture and have lots of cool stuff like that in my pad.
15. I openly admit to being a film snob. I generally do not like anything mainstream at all. I also like to watch some films over and over again. For this reason, I know a lot of movie lines and I'm addicted to the movie quotes thread.
16. I have this thing called Raynauds syndrome, which makes my fingers go numb very easily even if it's not especially cold. They turn white, then I run them under warm water and they turn almost black for a little bit until the blood flows back into them.
17. Despite #16, I often camp outside in snow and cold weather.
18. #17 is not always by choice - last July in Wyoming I woke up to 6 inches of snow outside my tent, and I was 6 miles away from the car. Yikes!
19. Despiet #18, the trip was still great and the freak blizzard just made it all the more memorable.
20. I have a bad tendency to turn beet red in the face whenever I suddenly find myself the center of attention. Because of this, I usually try to avoid being the center of attention and I pretty much keep to myself!

The end.

I crashed my car (good and proper) 7hours after taking my test! It sounds like youthful enthusiasm but it wasn’t my ‘fault’ as while I was waiting with the Police for a tow etc. two or three more cars lost it on the same corner where diesel or oil had been spilt.

With more than the average number of fingers i don't see where the problem could be, or... do you...

10 fingers (counting thumbs as fingers) is more than average as i'd bet there are more people who have lost a finger than were born with one extra thus the average is probably 9.99 fingers (estimate) therefore more people have more than the average number of fingers, a better statement would be i have more than the modal number of fingers.

man i'm going to turn into dr q, thats what further maths dose for you

Your thinking is spot on. I have 10digits giving me more than the average although this is indeed not uncommon. I also have more than the average number of legs, arms, eyes etc. Sorry to disappoint but well caught. It’s a great ice-breaker however.

Lofty? A million dollars is nothing. Americans are too damn wasteful in their spending. And yes, I got your sarcasm--don't try to bring other people down just because you are unhappy with yourself. Thanks.

having a million is not the same as being bill gates

but with fewer than one in three hundred as a millionaire...after taxes ;)...it's not as common as having, let's say credit card debt, or too many macs, or too many phones

it is true that a million dollars in the late 1890s was a formidable amount of money

if we all could be honest with our net worth, doctor q could do a graph on the active posters here on macrumors and we would probably all be surprised how few of us are really worth a million bucks

i met a man, great at his job but not a money man (he lives in the ghetto), and he said, "oh heck, i am like a millionaire. too...i make $50,000 dollars a year and i have been here for 20 years...20 times fifty thousand is a million, right?"

fuzzy fuzzy math dude :)

1) you didn't start your analyst job as a full colonel twenty years ago
2) you do pay taxes on the fifty grand
3) and you must pay some of the remaining net for your rent on your house, your groceries, medical bills, and other expenses

it would be surprising if you had one hundred grand cash in the bank and in investments
