Yeah. I think so. It would make a nicer cushion in order to throw them a bone and let them take game 4, so the Wings can win the cup at home in game 5. 😀

Granted a sweep would be nice in it's own way, but they really need to win a cup at home, without it coming down to a game 7.

Pretty good time to be a Detroit sports fan. Well, somewhat.

Wings: Do I smell BBQ Penguin?
Tigers: What a surprise, eh? Keep it up.
Pistons: I guess respectable.
Lions: We'll see... If they win a couple of games this year.
 
Interestingly, the team with the ignominy of being the only team to mess up bagging the Stanley after getting up 2-0 (in the oft quoted 1971 game)... turns out to be the Blackhawks. 😱

Anyway, I just hope for some great playing by my Wings. It doesn't matter to me as much whether it's 5 games or 6, if the Wings bag the Cup. There'll be plenty of time to pass the cup around the D, should we be so lucky, and around Sweden as well. 😛

I think it probably goes hand–in–hand with how they're letting both sides get kinda rough in play without penalties. Until it gets out of hand, anyway. There could have been other things considered by the league in the decision, like if he was getting pounced on by us leading up to it, for instance. There's a lot that goes on out of camera's view in hockey.

Still... Let 'em have him. No excuses. We just beat you, even with a couple of our stars out still with injuries.

(Damn glad I get Versus on our cable out here in BFK (Western KY)).
 
great game so far, although I don't know how that too many men on the ice on Pittsburgh didn't get called.

Yeah. Given the same Detroit penalty it would have been 4 on 4 for most of it, instead of a PP that allowed the tying goal. (Edit: Guess it would have been for :30)

Oh well... Still a lot of game to go. Looks like Pittsburgh is playing a lot better this game than the first two. Being at home probably helps a LOT.

Well, I want to throw a bone and let them take one at home (so we can win the cup at home), but I still would like it to be game 4 so we can have a 3 win cushion.

Detroit needs to get better control of the puck overall. Shots on goal are higher, as usual, but still... Good game so far.

Versus.

Disappointing loss tonight - the Wings looked tired all game, very sluggish compared to the last two.

Oh well, now they can win at the Joe in Game 5.

Ha. Someone needs to forward that comment to Bettman- especially after he said how happy he is with going with Versus.

I think that it's pathetic that the friggin' Stanley Cup Finals aren't on a national network in the US.


Well, I guess I was wrong about the 3-0 prediction. I'm going to stick with my original call of a 4-2 series win by the Wings.
 
I heard earlier on XM that the last 5 Cup winners lost game 3, and in the last 43 times a team took a 2-0 lead in the finals, they won 41 of those times.

Yeah, I have to agree with that. Versus? Never even heard of it before and after investigating, I'd have to upgrade the pay channels to receive that channel. B.S. that ain't happening. Doesn't even look my provider offers it in HD. I guess the next couple games are back on NBC

I agree. Here NBC gets to dictate back to back games 1-2 (granted the league had to agree or wait to start), yet they don't have to carry games 3 and 4. What if was a straight 4 game sweep by either team?

NBC: Oh no, no, no... We HAVE to be able to air I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!... And we HAVE to be able to praise Obama with the White House tour (all hail the messiah!). Gimme a break.

I can see a bit of merit to wanting to keep the season finale of L&O–SVU on track, however. That's probably been scheduled and advertised for some time.

I have to say that the Penguins looked like a much better team tonight than they did in 1 & 2.

Yeah. I lucked out here with MediaCom in West KY... Versus showed up when we were forced into digital boxes. But, you know how most sports finals go... The only real audience that add up to numbers are local hometown viewers for both teams, and displaced fans who have moved out of state (like us). Those first two shows of drivel on NBC probably drew many more overall viewers than this game would have. I'd rather see ABC/ESPN carry them. At least most basic (or tier 2) cable lineups include ESPN.
 
I live like 20 minute drive from the city of pittsburgh. I've been following the Penguins all my life. I love my pens not a bandwagon fan here. I think the pens have it in them to win it. I knew they would win the game last night because they haven't had home ice since game 2 against Carolina. Remember, the pens were down 2 games to Capitals and came back to win it. I know the Capitals are a different team then Red Wings, but my point is the Pens can be down and still have the teamwork and power to comeback.

edit: I pressed submit too early, but think about it this year Detroit. Malkin is on fire, last years playoffs Malkin wasn't doing his best if anything at all. Crosby is behind him too, the teamwork is there this year. Crosby is so close to breaking the playoff goal record (19). Also our fans are amazing haha. I've been down to the arena a few times earlier this playoff season to watch the game on the outdoor tv. It is amazing and so much fun. No matter what win or lose, our fans are amazing 🙂
 
What the hell is going on in Colorado? Sherman who? Joe Sacco? Sacco's AHL team didn't even make the playoffs this season. Maybe he meant to hire Joe Sakic as head coach?

Speaking of Sakic..... he should just retire now- what's the point of him coming back to play for this team?

TDD: I don't think that you have to worry about your team being the biggest circus in professional sports anymore......

Not possible, the Islanders are the cremé de la cremé of failures.

But you're right WTF is going on with the Avs. Scary.
 
Wow. The Pens are getting some stupid turnovers going their way, playing a really risky game at their blue line.
 
Wow, we've got a three game series now.

Good on the Pens- they've stood up and shown that they've grown up since last season.

I think the Wings will win the next 2 in a row.

I think Datsyuk will be back this series. If not for game 5, then definitely for game 6.

Isn't that what happened last year? I don't remember exactly, but didn't D take games 1 and 2, lose 3 and 4, and then win 5 and 6?

The Pens fans will be really, really pissed if the Wings win game 5 and 6 and have the Cup paraded out in front of them again after they put so much effort into games 3 and 4.
 
Does anyone know of any way at all to watch any of these in the UK? Pretty please could someone record and upload a game?
 
I think the pens have it in them to win against them at their home ice tomorrow. If they do that they're golden. I'd rather have them win it at home for game 6...pens fans will be going insane.

Based on their play this game, I don't think that the Pens are golden.

The Pens deserve to lose this game because of the slash that Talbot just gave Datsyuk's injured foot (which gave the Wings a 5 on 3 powerplay. Crosby was already in the box for slashing Zetterberg). Talbot did it because he knows that Datsyuk is recovering from a broken foot, and was hoping to re-injure him. So cheap.

I can't believe there's still another period to play in this game. 5-0 Wings so far.
