Yeah, I guess different strokes for different folks! But on a few issues:

The music: It's not a huge issue you're right. It's just a pity, I really liked the uptempo in-car music; I used to drive the cars more because of it.

The vehicles: They didn't drastically effect gameplay, but it was a nice, cool effect. It gave you some sense of progression - something lacking in C2. Besides, the whole idea of starting off with limited abilities and upgrading - isn't that what the Crackdown games are all about?

The city: There are some changes, some blocked routes sure. But it's the same islands, same bridges, same hills, same buildings. There's no sense of exploring a new city. Even if they put all the orbs in the same place, I doubt many people would notice (all 500 of them!) :)

The missions: At least with the stronghold missions, you had to find your way into the compounds, and chase a unique character which would affect the gangs in different ways (less manpower/weaker weapons/fewer vehicles). Most of the new missions types are just run to a marker on the ground, then kill everything that comes at you. Repeat 30-40 times, then the game is over.

The races: Well, I really liked the races. I even had the fastest time in the world on one of the road tracks for a good while </bragging>. I think they missed a trick in not having other characters to race against, particularly in the rooftop races. (and also in not having any other enhanced humans for leaping from roof to roof. That kind of rooftop combat would be great fun!)

Very true. And don't get me wrong. I can TOTALLY see why many people would not like this game, or be a little bummed by its lack of changes from the first. I guess it was just one of those weird games that just clicked with me. I absolutely love the first one, and really enjoy the second even more.

I will say one thing about the music that WAS missing. There was no DJ Krush this time, and I really missed that. Even though I've heard it about 1000 times, the song that played in the main titles of the first game is just awesome, and is the sole reason that I'm now a big fan of DJ Krush. I was disappointed to not see him anywhere in the soundtrack.

Nice!! I just was bored with them. I think this stems from my love of real racing games. Any time I would get in a car, I couldn't help but think about how much better the cars could handle, or how much better the race "layouts" could be, etc. It just frustrated me. I ended up using the chopper for many of the rooftop races just to get them done and over with.

On that note though, do you mean they missed out by not having other computer characters to race against? I'm pretty sure a buddy and I did a rooftop race at the same time. I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure it will let everyone in the game do a race at the same time. But yea, that would have possibly helped. If there were some other computer controlled agents that you had to race against, that might have spiced them up a bit more. Who knows.

I guess we'll just cross our fingers for CD3, and hope it gets a fitting sequel. If the post-credits ending is anything to go by, the enemies we might be fighting should be interesting. ;)

Just purchased a used Wii for ***** and giggles, but am going to return it tomorrow. Only bought it for Metroid Prime Trilogy, and found out one MUST use the nunchuck. I can't handle motion controls, it gives me a wrist ache and migraine. Oh well, I have more fun spending money racing than playing video games anyway...

However, if the newer Mario games can be played with the classic controller, I may just keep it. The darn system is cheap enough.

Picked up 5 games for 80 yoyos over the weekend - never done that before, I've often bought single games for 60 euros on their own. There aren't many big releases that I'm interested in at the moment, so I'm scavenging through the bargain basement.

Singularity - I'd never heard of this before playing it, it's not bad at all. The plot is standard "experiment gone wrong: zombies take over" fare; very linear and environment interaction is limited, but the gameplay is good fun. A fun mix of weapons, time manipulation, and some Jedi-like powers.

It's quite slow at the start, but the hectic battles further in make it. What could be more fun than freezing a group of soldiers in a time-dilation field, shooting them in the face with a shotgun and stealing their weapons, then collapsing the field to see their heads disappear and bodies fall to the ground. Oh yeah. Graphics are a bit Gears of War, gameplay is a bit like Timeshift crossed with a Jedi.

(The others were older games GTA:Episodes from Liberty City, Red Alert 3, Haze and Alone in the Dark).

Those were great. I had a great time playing GTA IV, and those two expansions were a lot of fun as well. If you cared about the story in GTA IV, these filled in a little bit of the back story.

The "Lost and Damned" was awesome. I won't spoil anything for you, but there is a mission where you shoot an auto-shotgun from the back of a motorcycle. It is possibly my 2nd favorite mission in all of GTA IV. Only "Three Leaf Clover" is better. It's like you are playing a Michael Bay movie.

The "Ballad of Gay Tony" is much longer than TLaD, and the story is a bit better as well. There is a lot of side missions you can do, and a lot of new little mini-games to play. The base-jumping is fun as hell. I had a blast with that. Oh, and Yusuf Amir is possibly the best character in a video game in a long time. I laughed my ass off every time he was on screen.

^ I hate the controls in Peace Walker and it hasn't stopped me putting approx 13,000 hours into it.

Well... I changed my Ys Seven order to the limited edition version. Saw some videos of the remake of Ys 3 (Oath of something) and Ys 1&2 Chronicles and now I'm a fanboi.
Just ordered Ys: Ark of Napishtim for the PSP too. Heard its pants but I've probably played worse.
Persona 3 Portable finally shipped :D.

I finally broke down and bought Splinter Cell Conviction... I had a gift card, and it was on sale and... I dunno.

I already beat the damn game when a friend stayed the weekend, and we promptly beat it but I got a few missions into the crazy hardcore difficultly and wanted more.

Still... I dunno when I will get around to playing it.

Purchased NCAA Football11 pre orderd Madden tonight got 20$ from amazon for that will probally use that to pre order Halo Reach.

Well, I played the Mafia 2 demo tonight, and I erased it from my "potentials" list. It just really doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table gameplay-wise. I feel like all the free-roaming fun it offers, I probably got out of the demo today....and there wasn't ANYTHING I hadn't done before in GTA4.

That leaves LBP2 as the only "maybe" left on my list for the remainder of the year. I'm actually happy about this, as I have a solid backlog of great games that I will get around to finish, and my bank account will be happy as well! :)

Purchased Dirt 2. I know I will be disappointed by the single player campaign as its not a rally racer anymore...It's easy to beat the AI in just about all these modern racers even on hard, so I take it to online.

Been rocking Halo Wars for far too many hours. Was up in the top 50s for the past couple of months but now dropped rankings due to not playing with my usual online partners. It's playing those last 40 top guys that just dominate my game. :(

Bought madden 11 and NCAA11 Pre orderd 2 Move Controllers with Sports challange and Halo Reach.

Just a few download titles-
Worms Reloaded
Plain Sight
that Stalker double pack on Steam
Pinball Heroes Speed pack

Chinatown Wars (PSP version, already have the DS one but this was only a few £ new).

I picked up Tales Of Vesperia when I was in Japan for the PS3, I'll probably get started on that this weekend.

I really haven't had a whole lot of time for games :( Too much work, too many deadlines, no fun at all.

yeah glad my birthday is in august my b-day coverd Madden and NCAA and birthday Money and Amazon credit coverd the PS Move otherwise it would have been a smaller purchase this month.

Oddly enough, one of my most rewarding purchases this year was the one I was the most skeptical about: Tales of Monkey Island!

I'm almost through episode 4 now, and the whole thing is just brilliant! Great humor, lots of detail, and genuine Monkey Island humour! If anything, these installments are a little to easy, we're playing through them a little too fast. But that's my only complaint. (Disregarding the control scheme here, as I have come to terms with the fact that I'm not playing it on a PC...)

Finally got around to playing this - TBOGT is very good. IMO, it has funnier characters and storylines than most of the other GTAs. And I see why you like that character - the comedian who voices that character is much the same in his stand-ups, very very funny.
I haven't tried TL&D yet.

On another note, I also picked up Darksiders recently.. wish I hadn't. I liked the setting and reviews were good, but it turns out it's just the kind of game I don't like: a linear, button masher with average gameply and graphics. Maybe it improves as you progress, but I got bored and went back to GTA Episodes.

Playing through Half Life 2 Episode 2 right now. The first time I tried to go through it, it was causing me headaches. Now not so bad, but the gameplay/story are just good fun for an FPS.

Then its off for more F1: Championship Edition. GREAT game, I just hope codemasters does not **** up their version as they have been doing as of late. There better damn well be qualifying in their version as well. The F1: CE has it done properly within the F1 rules.

*dances a little dance*
A bit battered since its an import but everything was poyfect inside.

Also bought Aqua Panic and Plants vs Zombies (fiiiinaally)off PSN and Steam respectively.

got Halo Reach and PS Move with sports Champions cant wait to play the gladiator game reviews for the Move have been stellar most have been 4-5 out of 5 or 8-9 out of 10 they say technically it hands down beats the wiimote.

Credit where it's due - I gave Darksiders a second chance, and it's not bad.

It's very, very Zelda-esque in gameplay. You need to kill bosses in their 'lair', each of which you find a new item/weapon which lets you access new areas and/or kill certain foes. There's even one where you unlock a prisoner by redirecting a beam of light with mirrors and portals. The puzzles are actually quite good.

It does lack the free-roaming, side-quests of Zelda. It's really just a collection of boss lairs with small access areas in between.

The combat is a bit repetitive.. repeatedly hitting square is as good a strategy as any.. There are dozens of others you can buy, but only a couple of them are any better than a basic swing, so you end up not using the vast majority of them.

Think my next purchase is going to be NBA 2k11 the fact that it has Jordan and Classic NBA teams and Move support for PS3 sounds very intriguing

I already bought NHL 11, Dante's Inferno and Mafia II. Next game I'm going to get is GT5: Collector's Edition since I pre ordered it last summer
