You know, you could actually put together a pretty good team with all the players who have got themselves injured – or have at least had a scare – since the final squads were announced...

that reminds me of signing up to the macrumors fantasy league later today ... i postponed joining because i wanted to wait until all the injury news came in ;)

So, England are gearing up now for their final warm up game – a friendly against local South African side the Platinum Stars.

Any wagers on which England player(s) will be stretchered off this afternoon?

Dawson.

---

Heskey - EnglandAid match to get him home? The sort of character that would score England's winner in the Final just to spite us.

Holland sticking with Robben, and Altidore trains - John Terry will sort that ankle out.

Cheers,
OW

Ah, but you can make unlimited changes to your team up until the tournament starts so there's no need to put it off. So if you – or anyone else for that matter – want to join the MacRumors Fantasy World Cup you'd best get yourself over to the thread, get signed up and send me a PM with your team name and I can send you the code you need to join our private league.

The MacRumors Fantasy World Cup – just like the FIFA one, but much acer.

Germany's probable XI v Australia: Neuer - Lahm, Friedrich, Mertesacker, Janssen - Schweini, Khedira - Müller, Özil, Poldi - Gomez (Cacau)

I hope Klose can get some playing time...the man has 10 goals in the last two WCs...:D

I just discovered today that I'll probably be sent out into the Alaskan wilderness just in time to miss the final. :(

I think I'll pack my USA shirt so I can at least show the colors that day, even if our chance of contesting the trophy are something less than slim. ;)

At least I'll probably be around to watch USA face the Germans (assuming we make it out of our group) and also see the quarterfinals.

The time difference here is a major downer, but the fieldwork takes me well out of contact with civilization on top of that. I actually had the summer well planned to get in most of the WC matches, but plans change, and of all the matches to miss....!!!

I'm going to have a friend DVR it and mail it up to me, but that's small consolation.

Can never get enough Daft Punk. Snoop was the star of the show, Becks' part wasn't all that great. Wasn't that Franz Beckenbauer lurking in the background together? And they must've used green screening to get Ian Brown (rabid United fan) and Liam Gallagher (rabid City fan) together!

Got to feel sorry for him. Being there in the England camp and not being able to play must be really frustrating. Say what you like about his lifestyle, but you can't fault his passion for the game.

Beckham's a great team player and takes the games seriously on the pitch. It's a shame he's not playing, though armchair managers continue to debate whether he's worth a slot anymore.

There's a rumour currently circulating that Nani injured himself after he fell practising his goal celebration. How much truth there is in this I don't know but if it is the case then I've little sympathy for the great buffoon.

I read it was an acrobatic shot. He fell awkwardly and hurt his shoulder.
