Anyone else watching on ABC know what that god awful buzzing noise in the background is? Sounds like an angry swarm of bees.

A draw? Ugh. Well, I guess we lucked out. I'm a football noob, but it seemed to me that England pretty much controlled the whole of that match.

As I predicted, a scratchy draw. Hopefully this is the bottom of the curve of England improvement. Things can only get better. USA offered little really, but then so did England.

honestly england was really weak today ... the english defense just hammered the ball up front more or less without any system or plan

the US played really dangerous in their defense with depending a lot on intercepting balls early but it payed off

This was their first match. They're bound to improve as they play more games.

Guess the Special Relationship is still around. Why not just put Rooney in defence and be done with it? Lampard, Milner, Johnson, Cole and Carragher all effing useless. Just:eek: Who's playing tomorrow?

Where was that pub Bladder?

Cheers,
OW

Is too early to blame the lack of goals on the ball? Average goals per game is 1.4 (more than 1 goal less than previous World Cups). I realize we're only 5 games in though.

The players haven't adjusted to the bounce, not sure they will; Nigeria had a chance that was killed by it. As to dead ball, no excuse for the free kicks so far.

Is it possible that the English weren't used to the 4,921 feet (1,500 meter) altitude of the Rustenburg area and they started to "run on fumes" at the end of the game? The USA team often trains and plays at higher altitude venues in Salt Lake City, UT and in Colorado and they played well today.
