It's going to be an interesting night for Scotland in Europe. Celtic didn't lose an away goal, Rangers trailing but have and away goal. Don't know if Hearts/Spurs are playing but that's a foregone conclusion.

Thankfully the Rangers game is on ESPN but I'm already getting fed up with the "Captain America" comments. Let's see what's left of our UEFA coefficient in the next 2 hours...

What I want to know is, does Sir Alex send the money straight to Blatter, or does it pass through Platini so he can take a cut? ;)

Strictly gold for Blatter; Ferguson replaces parts of a car and delivers it to the Emperor.

Fuzzy14 - if Hearts score first? :) The game is on ITV4 - Spurs are using the local school team.

Cheers,

Didn't they used to call Claudio Reyna "Captain America" up there? I hope Boca doesn't get overhyped. I think he's a solid defender, but he's only just arrived.

Don't forget a big hamper of dainties...Sepp doesn't like to go hungry. ;)

Well, I know Birmingham City aren't a team many of you care about, but were in the group stage for the europa league after a great 3-0 win over Nacional at St.Andrews tonight. Great game - i'm drunk and I don't care :)

Ah, bad luck Fuzzy. :(

Good to see Boca notch a goal though. Too bad he couldn't prevent the opposition from doing the same.

I was hoping Birmingham would end up playing Rangers in the league section, oh well.

A good result for Hughton, though he's said he could do without the Europa League. I think we can all agree to that, Chris.

Fancied some easy competition, guaranteed 3 points?;)

Nah, Rangers is my 2nd team (Mom is from Glasgow).

A good result for Hughton, though he's said he could do without the Europa League. I think we can all agree to that, Chris.

Indeed, we could really do without especially as our owner is being prosecuted for tax evasion in Hong Kong, we are in debt and the rumours are we might be in administration at the end of september.

It's never an easy option supporting Birmingham. At least we might go out of business playing positive football!

Probably wants Wenger to give him the whole £75m he has in his wallet. Then it won't be 'derisory'.

Wenger was always gonna have problems now that everyone knows how much money he has to spend.

£6m is a bit of a joke offer for Cahill really... but £17m being touted as what Bolton want is even more of a joke - he's only got one year left on his contract, allegedly Liverpool no longer have an interest in his so there's no competition. In January he could sign a precontract and move for free in the summer. Paying closer to £10m for him I think would be about fair. It's quite exciting, us Arsenal fans never get linked to this many players  Even rumours about Kaka no less...

This at Stoke away...

mmmmm dreams :p

Oh and - Man City make audacious £50m bid for Man Utd's Champions League group..

Oh i didn't know it was £6m. £17m is just unrealistic but Wenger should please meet them halfway and buy him...i think he would pair well with Vermaelen.

We still need another creative midfielder and i don't think Kaka would be a good buy personally. It pains me that Chelsea hijacked Mata. I understand Wenger was probably waiting for the Fabregas deal to go through so he could use that money but why not loan it temporarily. Fabregas was guaranteed to leave anyway. Now we've missed out.

I hope we get Cahill (or Mertesacker if available) and Hazard at least, before the window ends

Kaka v Hernandez; the big pre-match fight.

Cahill; pay 12m + Premier League and Champions League extras, get it done! For once Wenger stop faffing around.

Thought Arsenal had the deals lined up subject to Champions League qualification.

Ferguson; he shouldn't be having a go at the :eek:ing FA, it's Saha's fault;) Looking forward to Ferguson referring to the big eared :eek:er in the MOTD studio during his post-match BBC interview.

Cheers,
OW

Well, rumour has it that Wenger has disputed the £6m as "Wrong".

Apparently there's no way he was going to spend that much ;)

Edit, and Barton to QPR is a done deal

Cahill would be a good buy for Arsenal, but £17m would be crazy money.

Fergie's right - why pick the best players for England duty? Ferg's busy winning trophies, don't bother the man. Just pick every English player from Stoke instead or some such.

I think it's a Scottish plot to sabotage England's national squad. Ferg is upset that they're rated 4th in the world. ;)

I can't wait to see more, but I'd like to see him fight another hard man for once, rather than picking on little guys like Gervinho.

They'd probably do a better job and play with pride.

It'll be interesting to see who teh Arse sign, there's talk about Scott Dann from Birmingham - though i'd rather we kept him.

Annoyed we couldn't keep a clean sheet, even if it was a slightly lucky goal.

Liverpool dominated possession for the first hour though, and looked very dangerous throughout. Good strikes from Henderson and Adam. They look to be playing more like a team, though I think there is still progress to be made. Carroll looked a bit rusty when he came on. All the more reason I wish we had a third striker - we continue to rely on Suarez up front, he wasn't on the sheet today but he made a big contribution with a high work rate.

Suarez was hacked down in the box twice but no call, we could have easily had 5 or 6. A good win for Liverpool.

Scary hit to Drogba, he hit the ground like a sack of potatoes and for once he wasn't faking it. Glad he's recovering.

EDIT:
The joy of seeing a solid Liverpool win was just about wiped out by Columbus being absolutely taken apart by Seattle, 6-2. We didn't play well, but I'm still going to add the excuses that

  • We were facing a manager (Sigi Schmidt) who was in charge of Columbus for three years
  • Our current manager served as Sigi's assistant for those three years
  • The core of our team is largely composed of Sigi's players
  • We were away at one of the most hostile stadia in MLS
  • We played on a plastic pitch
  • We have never beaten Seattle. Ever.

Oh yeah, and aged Columbus striker Jeff Cunningham just broke the career individual MLS goals record with his 134th. Who cares.

Wow. How low has this club sunk. I'm not one to attack Wenger but ALL responsibility for todays embarrassment must be heaped squarely on his shoulders.

I've never been ashamed to be an Arsenal supporter but today has to take the cake. That was League 1 form...and that's an embarrassment to League 1.

Horrible. Disgusted.

Ugh!

I think I'm going to be sick.

The season has barely started and it's already obvious that every team outside of Manchester might as well not even show up for work, the Premier League title is an irrelevancy. The only sporting question left is, will United be able to beat Barcelona this time?

I think Chelsea will be the biggest losers this season, the competition has moved on. It's all Manchester.

Despite all that....
Wednesday won!
Dumbarton won!
Athletic drew!
