Ok, Thornton had the cup at Zume's this morning about a 1 minute walk from my new house -- then on to the Warren Tavern (facebook link warning) which is a 1 minute walk on the opposite side of my house!!!:mad::mad::mad:

Jets jersey's ?

Pass or Fail?

I say pass- they are actually kinda nice looking-though I guess my only complaint is that they look like a jersey for HNIC(color and pattern wise) but that is just nit-picking.

Though I have to imagine that they will have a throw-back jersey that will magically appear and be worn for special occasions-if not this year then next year.

I like the new Jets jerseys. They look "right".

They won't introduce a 3rd jersey until next season. They're trying to determine which old era Jets design to use. I heard an interview with one of the top execs a month or so ago, and he said that it was too late to get a 3rd uniform together in time.

I like them as well...Surely, you're correct...they just look "right" and pretty slick as well.

Now, the Jets have to start doing this after they score a goal, and they'll be perfect.

could this summer be any worse? I mean just this alone would be tragic but I really don't think we could have had a worse off-season.

So, so, so sad

In case you haven't heard.... :(

Many former NHL players were on that plane, such a tragedy. Pavol Demitra was a fan favorite here in St. Louis. He and everyone else will be missed.

I've always wondered what would happen if an NHL (or MLB, NFL, etc) team's charter plane crashed. It would wipe out an entire team in an instant.

I know that the MLB has provisions in place, as I'm sure the other leagues do, where there would be some type of draft, almost like how the expansion draft is set up, where teams would be able to protect X amount of players.

Another sad day for Hockey, though.

It's really unbelievable. I was listening to TSN Radio and the FAN590's coverage this morning. So sad.

I also listened to the Sidney Crosby concussion update press conference. Hopefully he can make it back this season. It was interesting to hear what his MD and DC had to say about his progress and current condition.

I don't think a single NHL team was immune today from this tragedy.

I am still in shock...

Yup. As a Panther fan, we traded away Salei to Colorado for Skrastins. I had the pleasure of meeting both of them multiple times, and they were a pleasure to talk to. Its such a sad event, and it just goes to show you that wealthy or not, famous or not, our time on this planet can be taken away just like that. So sad :(

so the latest is that the other teams in the league are willing to put up a player or two so that Lokomotiv can still play. The player's existing team will pay the salary of the player that switches team.

I think this is better than the alternative of having what amounts to an expansion draft, which is something else I heard as a solution.

my wallet is going to hate me tonight.. about to spend $1100 on 4 tickets for banner night  :D:D

@robo

Where you or do you know anyone who was at the Flyers Rangers pre-season game after 9/11 that got cancelled in the middle because people wanted to hear the rest of then President Bush's speech to Congress and the nation? To me, that game is one of the most memorable and likely least-known moments of national solidarity after the events that happened in sports.

^^^^Looks like they've decided to forgo the entire season for Lokomotiv. I think that's the right call.

Burn in hell Viggo!:p

He does something Habs-related every year at TIFF.

Can you at least forgive Keira? Sounds like she got coerced into it....

Wow - ouch! Similar tix to mine are going for big money on Ace this week but I'm still going.

I received some other good news this week too:
  • my season tickets showed up (with a commemorative first night ticket)
  • for being a season ticket holder, I received 2 suite tickets to one of the games
  • I ran into Tuukka in the grocery store last night and talked to him for 2 mins. He looked a little surprised (that I recognized him?) or that I talked to him... He was reasonably cool.
  • Got Claude's and Brickley's autographs on Monday night. Timmy snubbed us though claiming he's under contract for signatures.
  • I have a time slot scheduled to get my picture with the Cup! That is what I've been waiting for!

It's a great week!

Met Thornton today at the local coffee shop. Very down to earth and cool guy. He was heading to the Garden for his fitness test. I took the day off and just happened to stop in there.

If I ever bump into her here, I'll let her know how wrong it was for her to do that.:p

Did you happen to notice what he ordered? I wonder if he ralphed it up today during/after the VO2 test.:D

And good stuffs for you a few posts up too!

So good that training camp finally opened.....that means pre-season games are coming up....and then regular season games. Then all we have to do is endure those 82 games until the real season starts, the playoffs.;)

Pretty interesting stuff going on here in LA with Doughty. I wonder what will happen....will he continue to hold out and lose $25,000 for each day he misses camp? I laughed when I heard that......interesting tactic by Lombardi.

This is going to blow up in his face. This is the arrogance I hated when he was in SJ-wouldn't sign anyone, lousy trades and no class. I understand him not wanting to break the bank on two guys, especially with richards and gagne now on the payroll. But to threaten with docking an offer 25k each day he doesn't show is irresponsible.

I know he has said he won't trade him-but if you let this drag on, not only will it damage your team but you give everyone else time to restructure budgets and give him what he wants (and one could argue deserves)

Agreed.

I heard Luke Schenn being interviewed yesterday about the new 5 year contract he signed with the Leafs. He had nothing but good things to say about Ron Wilson, and pretty much said that he owes his NHL career to him. Does that make you head asplode, cuestakid?:p

Yeah, he finally got what he wanted since he signed there. They certainly bent over backwards to make him the captain.

not really-even the bad coaches have to be right once in a while-

Ha, true enough. Just admit it, you love him.:p

Just saw this.....new throwback sweaters for the Leafs and the Senators. They weren't supposed to be released yet, but a store in Buffalo accidentally unpacked and displayed them.

Love the Leafs one (it's the Leaf I used for my 'tar:D), but the Sens sweater looks like it has a big fat zero on it.:p
