Sloppy Liverpool. But Villa are sloppier. 2-1 to the Reds, though I thought USA No. 2 Brad Guzan looked good.

Glad to see Stuart Holden is getting some minutes again. He's going to be fighting for a place in the World Cup squad, but he's been away from the game forever it seems.

Looks like Hull City burst Huddersfield's bubble.

Football from the Netherlands.

Heerenveen 2 vs Feyenoord 0
Heerenveen is a team in form, since the winterstop they have won five in a row. Feyenoord title hopes took a hit, this weekend.

Twente 1 vs NAC 1
Twente are a team in trouble, since the winter stop they have just fallen off the board.

Roda JC 2 vs PSV 2
This result can mean the title race is starting to become a bit more clear. PSV have only themselves to blame, with 3 minutes left to go in the match, and they all went to sleep. The warning signs were there Roda had had missed so many chances.

Vitesse 2 vs PEC Zwolle 1
With this win Vitesse moves into the second place jumping Feyenoord, Wilfried Bony scored his 27th goal and had a goal disallowed (unjustly) PEC slide a little but are still safe for now.

Ajax 4 vs NEC 1
With this win Ajax have started to edge further in front of PSV. Ajax at home have been weak this season, but not this time. This time they looked like a winner from the start of the match.

The top 4 teams are still only seperated by 4 points, with 6 more matches to go.

At least the sacking of Adkins for Pochettino by Southampton seems to have paid dividends. Granted they did it earlier in the campaign.

Not exactly sure what you mean, CoxOrange. Götze playing upfront?
(...)

Some more things, I don't see Ger copying Barca/Spain. NED for exampke played 433 like forever and it's different, too.
(...)
But mind, I for one am not tired of watching Barca, never!
Well, it was not that I meant they are really playing like Spain/Barca. What I meant was that "I want to play short passes till I die and I don't care shooting goals"-Thing. Spain does that different. They have more space between these long passing sequences and do it with few players. With Germany it didn't look like a long sequence, but endless and like all players indstead the two mid-defenders were doing it all together and the distances between them looked like 2-3m (yes it wasn't but...).
In the last Euro Cup they did that against a defensive Greek team, but it was way more entertaining and did take so long till someone tryed to shoot.
I have been watching football since 1954.

Thanks for that text!
looks like somebody wanted to send a message to Juventus, unfortunatly for the HSV they were the horse

Bayern : HSV - 9:2

edit: Claudio "Third Choice" Pizarro: 4 Goals : 3 Assists
I was very surprised by that. When I heard the commentaries the day before the game I thought, it will be like always, when they say they want to win and will, they will have problems and everybody will lament that they should have won higher. Now, that was really surprising.

Some of you mentioned Germany had a time were they could not easily win against a weak defensive team. I remember Bayern had that problem, too. Both looked like doing good against strong teams and playing ropy against weaker teams. What I was thinking then was, that maybe masters need other masters to play "WITH" them, like a master in a tennis duo, who can't play good, because the layman will play with limited abilities and destroy his flow. I don't know, if that makes any sense or you understand what I am trying to say.

with Bayern i think it's a mental thing
and thanks to the new squad roster additions which provide alternatives and are also different, some more light-hearted characters

IMHO a lesson they learned from Dortmund the two years before

I saw micheal Crabtree in la buying groceries I said waddup but he didn't even look my way what a butthole....go niners!

The Di Canio story is crazy. He's one of those people in football who entertain me but I would never want them within a million miles of one of my teams. And sometimes it's hard to laugh at him because he's a bigot and that is not funny when you get down to it...

I was at Ashton Gate today for Bristol City vs Sheffield Wednesday - I've been dragged along to a few City games this season and have sort of adopted them as my second team (possibly the only person to support the bottom of the Premier League and the Championship?! )

Anyway, the game was pretty dire apart from the last 5 minutes where Bristol equalised then pressed for the win. I felt a good penalty shout was turned down also earlier on in the game.

On balance, I think Bristol should've won, but poor finishing and good Wednesday defending combined to keep City rock bottom.

On an unrelated note, a belated welcome to Nigel Adkins, who, according to his mum, can keep us up...

Hope Juve kicks ass today!! Great to see 'em back

 WTF

well, nevertheless, good to see there're still 1-2 teams in the world left not playing 433.

well with the very, very early Bayern goal i think Juve's 3-5-2 is working against them

pushing the wingbacks up simply leaves their defense too exposed on the flanks , also i find it rather bizarre how the the italians have some serious problems with the high up the field pressure from Mandzukic etc.

Bizarre is right expression. Pirlo's not up to the task, but with Italians, you actually never know. I'd even say that's a big fat set up! ;) Half jokingly, but yeah, never ever write 'em off or underestimate them. Never.
