Congrats on Koren Jaffa.
He's a solid player.
Liverpool to face Scottish third-place SPL contenders Hearts in the Europa League. Ah, those glamorous European nights...
I deliberately set that one up for someone to finish.
My knowledge of the Championship is not encyclopedic, but based on what I've seen I'd say Rogers could potentially be a starter for a lower half Championship side. He's good enough to play in MLS and flit around the fringes of the USA national team for less important matches but he's definitely failed to fulfill his early Stewart Holden-levels of potential.
I think an MLS career would be more comfortable for him because in England he'd probably end up a journeyman.
Heh.
One wonderful thing about the women's game is the lack of diving. Even when they get tackled, the players are more likely to get up and get on with things rather than do a Sergio Busquets impression. There is less cheating overall in the women's game, though the quality of reffing is also lower.
I've never heard of the women playing a men's team, though it may have happened at some point. US women's football has definitely seen more development here than in most nations, and as a result our team and program is currently the best. But other nations are working hard to catch up, so I don't know how long this dominance will last.
If by "US men's football" you mean our national team, I'd say yes, we can play in Europe without disgracing ourselves - but we're not on the same level as the football powers such as Germany, Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands etc etc. We're currently ranked 34th or something like that - I think 20th would perhaps be more accurate. So a good team but not a great one.
If by "US men's football" you mean MLS, I would say the league is still in its infancy. However, it is rapidly improving and I can see the day when it will become roughly equivalent to, say, Ligue 1. And some day in the more distant future it may even grow to compete directly with the top European leagues. It also has a certain Latin American flavor to it due to the many Latino players in MLS who come from Central and South America (as well as Mexico). But at the moment it is a weaker league than the top European leagues. It's roughly a second-tier league by European standards
EDIT: Speaking of journeymen, Craig Bellamy has left Liverpool for Cardiff after a reasonably fruitful second spell. So we're back to three strikers with Carroll, Suarez and Borini.
EDIT2: And Liverpool have officially signed Joe Allen from Swansea. It will be interesting to see how this affects Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson in the pecking order.

I'm sure there are some of us hoping he might
Do you think he's championship level? If not, perhaps a return to the MLS may be the best thing, for now at least.

Not so excellent news for the Glazers, as there's not much trading going on...

Well, it seems "hobbits" (pardon) do "fly" easily, when touched.I actually wonder how good they keep standing in some situations and in others were they fall, they do not even complain and get up quickly to be of help in the game.

I would gladly watch the US-national team against a MLS, Premier League, Bundesliga team or something like that. Have there been Test games? Here in Germany they do only test against under-16 teams (were they loose arround 0:3) and the Women's Bundesliga do test against Kreisliga (losses of 2:11 seem not uncommon).
Is US men's football at the same level of quality as in Europe? What I got from German media, it is always pictured as not, while US-women's football is more common in the US and that it is seen as a typical highschool sport for girls there. Sorry, if that question sounds to stereotype and narrowminded.
