@ Happybunny:

the old teams of the 1974 World Cup final from the Netherlands and Germany meet for a match today, at 18 o'clock.
I don't know, if they broadcast it in the Netherlands, but here they show it on Kabel1. So, if you can't see it otherwise, but would like to, and you have satellite TV, you can search for the frequency of "Kabel1".

Edit: LOL, the preview was wrong in that it is the teams from 1974. The only thing that is the same like in the Finale of 1974, is the countries... They have Van Bommel :) for the Netherlands and while I know that guy, I do not know Witschge (I do not really know much older Netherlands' players, even if they had their career in the 90ies, though), Germany has Matthäus, Frings, Borowka, Basler and former GDR player Kirsten (who actually plays in every benefit match I heard of the last years, but this one does not look as crappy, as other benefit matches. :)

The Netherlands have an overall younger team. The sponsors are funny. Netherlands: ING-DiBa (Bank) and Germany: pizza.de ??? (To make it clear they have it on their shorts, not on the walls around the field :))

When I read '74, this morning, I thought that at least their playing style from that time helps them today, when they are old.

Words fail me....surely alcohol/drugs were involved? That's simply mindless savagery.
You wouldn't have thought the referee would have been drunk/on something, though - although it wouldn't be been the first time.

I don't know if there'd been any previous, as a referee having a knife on him isn't exactly commonplace either - but whatever the background it's a shocking turn of events.

For those of you still wondering if Wenger has lost it or not, I think this confirms it.

There's no disputing his talent, but really?

There's a school of thought that this is a tactic by Wenger to try and put pressure on Real Madrid to nudge along the Higuaín transfer.

Given that Suarez claims his problem is with the media in this country and nothing to do with anything or anyone at Liverpool, one would think he'd be wanting to move abroad rather than to London. But stranger things have happened.

I've just read that on the comments page on the BBC site, and it could well be true! :)

New thread? Squeeze myself into this one quickly..

Two things: Gomez for roundabout €15m to Florence? I don't like him (= his playing style) but that's a real cheapo. Think Liverpool should have chimed in prolly...think he could fit in there. And, aside from what I've written before, mean it in a good way.

Second and more importantly: When is the new [MR]League about to take off?

Its getting close to time for a 2013-2014 thread, isn't it? :) (I'll let Jaffa do the usual honours)
I was thinking that myself at the weekend, actually. I'll get us sorted when I get the chance. :)

I'm at the mercy of the Fantasy Premier League site and when they relaunch for the new season, as soon as they do though rest assured I'll get us set up and send a few notifications out. It's been mid-July the last few seasons, if memory serves.

Columbus 1-0 Portland

We actually won a game. Higuain missed a penalty for the second time this season, but we benefitted from an early red card against Portland. Still not too much to crow about.

I see that Charlie Austin's transfer to Hull has collapsed after he failed his medical. You don't see that too often. One wonders how Jimmy Bullard ever made it past those docs...;)

Oh, and Suarez's agent still says the boy wants out of Liverpool. If true I really hope we get rid of him. He can be sold for a profit at the moment and there are other good strikers out there.

Ah, Bullard didn't get past the doctor - he got past the then chairman. ;)

Austin's got a history of shoulder problems (aggravated no doubt by having to carry Burnley the past few seasons) so I thought at first it might have been down to that, but apparently it was the results of a knee scan which scuppered things.

There is some pleasing news to report from the KC, though – Mrs Cake collected our new season passes from down there earlier. They came with a £5 voucher for the club shop - now, what should I spend that on?

Not that opinionated on Luiz, but can see why Pool fans want him out. But didn't dug too deep for infos either.
Didn't Beneteke just held a presser, stating he'd like to leave? Should have bid for Gomez prolly. What about Eriksen, you still need an OffMid?

Don't want Barry. Arteta and even Ramsey are far better. Surprised Wenger moved for Suarez at £30m, in an ideal world the right valuation, but not so much in the current £50m/player climate. I'm guessing Wenger knew this all to well too.

At this point i won't be surprised if zero new faces show up at the Emirates outside of the 2013 Gerv--i mean Sanogo. Now that reports are the Higuain deal has stalled and Fellaini talk has gone cold. Reminds me of whole Mata saga...which is exactly why i won't be holding my breath.
