There's been foolish talk by some folk that it was the greatest comeback of all time. This is clearly untrue, as we all know that the greatest comeback of all time was City's 2-1 victory over QPR back in 2007. There may not have been as many goals scored I grant you, but it was the ultimate example of all that is good and right triumphing over the forces of darkness.

Another team in blue and white hoops throwing away the result, come to think of it...

On a side note: I am very pleased at the moment Mainz is at place 6 in the 1. Bundesliga (I know it's not the end of the season...). :)

I find it a bit pity, that Greuther Fürth can't live up to expectations one could have, after their strong matches against Dortmund and Bayern last season.

Just to keep you up to date Jaffa Cake
PEC Zwolle beat RKC Waalwijk by 4-2, to reach the next round of the KNVB Beker

There was no epic fightback for Liverpool today against Swansea. Actually there just wasn't much fight from Liverpool, period.

I'd like to see San Jose win, since they dominated the regular season. I don't want LA, RSL, Seattle, Chicago or DC to win. It wouls be nice to see Vancouver knock LA out in the first round.

EDIT: Chelsea appear to have iced it with a fifth goal.

EDIT2: And of course cue a Man Utd goal...they are still down a goal though...and that's it. 9 goals altogether, and despite the crazy finish Chelsea get their revenge.

Since we have our determined and suited foreign correspondent at hand: How's Enschede doing overall? I always rooted for them quite affectionate but lost track somehow.

Doesn't look like Chicago will do it this year, playing like complete garbage right now down 2-0 ATM.

Edit: Fire fall and get knocked out at home losing 2-1

oh nooooo...

Now starting: Arsenal LadiesFC - 1.FFC Turbine Potsdam

Men players(!) from Arsenal are watching and supporting their ladies club!

German teams don't get that support. In fact people like Schweinsteiger make fun of women's football (which is why I said previously, that I know "women's football is not considered football" by many).

I am watching it on Eurosports. (Btw. Potsdam is playing with a "B"-team, because many are injured)

I have to say that I quite like him. Always looks as if he could just laugh out loud but is perfectly able to behave himself. Good coach.

He was prepared to bring on the big guns yesterday - Oscar and Hazard - v what happened when Fletcher moved to defence and Anderson came off. He's doing okay; won a few trinkets, so-so league position...:) The tough job is not being assimilated by the Borg - Roman and JT.

pachyderm - clip - :D Why kick it in the air

Cheers,
OW

Was that actually Yarnksi raising some eyebrows? Picture quality was too bad, couldn't identify the beard. ;)

Arsenal ladies 2 : 1 Potsdam.
Arsenal was clearly the better team, though the the match in general looked a bit "lame" to me. Potsdam's Players were most of the time not anticipating their own players' actions. Balls were precisely played and would have been good passes, if the other players had moved there. Arsenal should have won higher by chances. Out of the few chances Potsdam had, one of their few regular players, managed a late goal - I guess it's never wrong to have a japanese national-team striker in your team :) (btw. injuries from the last matches on Potsdams side included: 5 torn cruciate ligaments, 2 with head/brain trauma, one of those were later playing, the other - american defense player Alex Singer is at home for recreation after staying in hospital. 7 isn't enough, it seems: this match a strong striker "joined" the row of injured players, with something on her knee. It was in the first half, so the coach had to use a non-striker as additional striker to keep up his system.)

Wolfsburg 4:1 against norwegian team "Roal Il".
This was overall more interesting (not as entertaining as international tournament matches, but well ok). The numbers might appear as if the Norwegian team was a walk-through shooting gallery team, but it wasn't.

I'll try to keep you up to date, but you'll not like my first report.

Well wonders do happen.

KNVB Beker

FC Twente 1 FC Den Bosch 2

Steve McClaren had underestimated the opposition, after all Den Bosch is a division below FC Twente. His starting line up was without, Nikola Michajlov, Roberto Rosales, Wout Brama, Nacer Chadli, Willem Janssen, Dusan Tadic, Robbert Schilder Douglas (all rested). Everything seemed to be going to plan when Denny Landzaat scored a penalty. Twente lost a player Dedryck Boyata to a red card for a tackle that was extreme. Just before half time Den Bosch scored a goal, it must be said with a bit of luck, Joey Brock.

In the second half Tom van Weert scored again for Den Bosch, this motivated Twente both Joey Pelupessy and Chadli missed good chances to score. Ten minutes before time Luc Castaignos was given his second yellow card, so Twente ended with nine players. This was the signal that it was all over for Twente.

I have no idea what the dpa is, but no I don't work for them, I'm retired.:D
Yes the Beker is the cup sorry I forgot to translate.

Twente are top of the Eredivise at the moment but before the winter stop in December they have a few difficult matches. Twente are only one point above PSV with a worse goal difference.

Sorry, should have written ANP.
My granny lives in Ahaus right next to Enschede....maybe I shoulf pay them a visit or so. It's difficult to get tickets? I assume they don't charge as much as in England :)p) and it's more affardable, like in Germany :)D)?

I'd guess 'beker' has the same root as the English word 'beaker'. I rather like the idea of playing for a plain and simple beaker rather than a fancy cup. :D

Good to see that the Dutch red card scourge isn't just limited to the league, we don't want the players getting ideas above their station whilst on cup/beaker duty. ;)

Winning is far more important to the lower clubs, that being said the major clubs never like losing to lesser opposition.

The red card for Dedryck Boyata was well deserved, it was late and ankles high. But I do agree these players should know their place.:D
