Liverpool probably know how difficult Sports Direct can be at handling returns. :p

I LOL'd.

More seriously, Liverpool have been utterly piss poor in the transfer market in recent years. It wouldn't surprise me if we sold him back for a 50% loss and he goes on to be top scorer in the PL next year. It would really sum up the past few years. It's just so depressing.

To be fair, I think pachyderm's looked after that for the past few seasons. ;)

wow! the truth really does hurt.

you know what really sucks? i work on my team and still can't win.

i was just looking into the barclays game this morning...

i'm in both!

True, but the Hicks & Gillette ownership fiasco and managerial shuffles have hurt us much more. Hopefully the current ownership/manager combo becomes permanent enough to stabilize the club.

I'm off for the back country for the better part of two weeks...I hope when I come back the Crew have posted a few more Ws and Liverpool have not signed Joey Barton...

Away better than home:

What know our Scottish chums of Sone Aluko? He was at Rangers last season but is now a free agent, word is we've currently got him going through a medical.

Basically, is he any good?

He seemed to enjoy his spell at Rangers, performed well when there was a good supply of balls to him hence his scoring stats (50%) were better than any of his other clubs. I didn't actually notice him in his 3 years at Aberdeen. Sorry to see him go but understandable really.

His Twitter profile pic (@sonealuko) was taken on the Exhibition Centre walkway to the train station.

Tim Cahill to NY red bulls for 1 million. I'm torn, happy since I can see a true Blue live more often, disappointed that it had to be freakin NY. On top of it I think Everton could have gotten more then what they got for him.

Apparently City are out of the running for RVP, the people upstairs refused to cough up the money which has left Mancini furious. Its now down to Utd or Juventus...Juve being the preferred option for Wenger obviously. They (Juve) are prepping a £190k/£20m package.

In less depressing news, someone else important to our cause has renewed their contract with us which is good

Also Cazorla has apparently agreed basic terms with us and its now down to Malaga to accept the £16m offer.

But Wilshere still out until October.

Poor Mancini! How can he expect to win trophies with a mere £150m+ strike force!?!

Thats the argument. With Dzeko, Super Mario, Tevez and Kun he's not exactly wanting for strikers. I think he just doesn't want Utd to have him. Utd only lost the title on goal difference after all. If they had RVP's goals...

And Manchester United are reckoned to be sniffing around Baines...

Yeah it's been flying around a majority of the summer. I don't think it will happen though if United land RVP. I've seen Everton will be looking for a fee of 16-20 million for Baines which will turn a lot of teams off. Baines is good but is Evra really that deteriorated that United will shell out big bucks for Baines? Only time will tell but if a team meets that transfer fee old Kenwright will ship him out in a hurry.

Evra's defending has gone downhill, but I don't think Baines is an improvement re defence; attacking - crossing and dead-ball, yes, but Evra still edges it at the back. The time warp Toffee would give some competition/rest for PatRice, and fill an age gap - Blackett; Rafael and Fabio covering rightback. It makes sense at the right money. I'll be mixed if the move happens, like seeing him turn out for Everton.

RVP,

It seems the Manchester supporters don't want him; rather the money be spent on other areas. Of course he would be backed, but excitement is at indoor firework level, rather than Edinburgh at New Year.

Two late goals for Arsenal sees them beat Malaysia XI 2-1; standard friendly fare.

Zillionaire Mateschitz' Toysclub RB Salzburg lost the CL-qualification
against F91 Düdelingen! Ahhh, that feels good...:D

Jaffa Cake - some clubs/supporters are miffed because players are trying to break their contracts, and another group is unhappy because contracts are being honoured.

Fizzoid - Bale - guaranteed to be fit at the selection stage? Friendly v competitive?

Cheers,
OW

I 'think' Bale was told from the powers that be that he couldn't play, but who knows...

Rumors circulating that Johnny Heitinga is being perused by Fenerbahce. Transfer fee estimated to be 5.5 million. I always enjoy the transfer news but its getting tougher to handle when I only see that transfer news of outgoing players at Everton.

Oh great, somebody at Scotland's national stadium has manage to upset the most bonkers nation on earth. North Korean nukes now pointed at Glasgow.
You know that independence thing you chaps were going on about? Well, we've had a bit of a think about it down here and it seems a good idea actually.

Good luck with that North Korea nukes thing, you'll be fine sorting that out yourselves. No need for us to get involved. ;)
