Although, I've learned over the years to just bring my phone and wallet. Luckily we don't have to worry about cold weather gear or anything else like that. :D

That is my biggest complaint. As a season ticket holder, my family will bring hats, gloves, blankets, hand warmers, etc to the games as the season progresses. Needless to say, it all won't fit in that small bag.

wow, just when you thought the aaron hernandez story couldn't get more strange... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...n-hernandez-alleges-heavy-user-012134167.html

Rolling Stone article on Aaron Hernandez alleges he was a heavy user of the drug PCP, or angel dust

We're not done learning all the sordid details about Aaron Hernandez's life off the field, and we're still months from his murder trial.

It's almost incomprehensible that Hernandez was a NFL star, blending in on the New England Patriots, based on what has been alleged about his life since he was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on June 26. Rolling Stone has the latest article investigating Hernandez's life, including the explosive allegation that he was a "heavy user" of the drug PCP, also known as angel dust, and became so paranoid over the past year he carried a gun wherever he went.

Again, a few months ago, Hernandez was considered one of the NFL's star players.

Rolling Stone released a few details of its magazine article, "The Gangster in the Huddle," on its website. The angel dust allegation is the most shocking revelation but not the only one about Hernandez, who was charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd, a semi-pro football player who was shot and found in an industrial park near Hernandez's house on June 17.

Rolling Stone also claims Hernandez surrounded himself with a "cohort of gangsters" and cut himself off from family and teammates, both of his parents had criminal record, that Hernandez's mom Terri was cheating on Hernandez's father with a violent drug dealer and after Hernandez's father died the drug dealer moved into the house with Terri and Aaron Hernandez, and that Hernandez's college coach Urban Meyer "may have" helped failed drug tests and two violent incidents when Hernandez was at the University of Florida.

The other detail Rolling Stone released is that Bill Belichick was infuriated with Hernandez's "missed practices and thug-life stunts" and was close to cutting his star tight end. That helps explain why the Patriots cut Hernandez almost immediately after he was arrested at his house.

Given what we've heard about Hernandez's lifestyle off the field in the past few months, Belichick being fed up with Hernandez even before his arrest might be the least surprising revelation of the upcoming Rolling Stone article.

Oh, come on... it's brilliant sports marketing. Let's give some credit, Flacco is the defending Superbowl Champion QB, but the genius part is riling up the Broncos fans like that so the first game of the season will be a great environment. :p

Oh that place is going to be rocking!! Mile High Stadium, opening day... yeah way to disturb the hornets nest......... I hope Manning and Company put the beat down on the Ravens.

Not a surprise. The whole article is on Rolling Stone's website now.

Makes the NFL's drug testing policy look like a joke if Hernandez was really smoking blunts after every game and never tested positive.

Having a hard time swallowing the BS that RS is trying to sell here. Aside of the drug taking, they said BB was about to cut him over skipping workouts yet he qualified for his workout bonus.

Yeah. That's the other part that didn't add up to me. NFLPA is currently suing the NFL and the Patriots to recoup an $82,000 workout bonus that Hernandez was due (I think on August 1st) for attending every offseason workout.

I don't understand his luck, must be divine intervention. Wow did he play awful for somehow throwing 2 tds
Pre season bench players.

In other news.

The NFL has reached a tentative $765 million settlement over concussion-related brain injuries among its 18,000 retired players, agreeing to compensate victims, pay for medical exams and underwrite research.

A federal judge announced the agreement Thursday after months of court-ordered mediation. It came just days before the start of the 2013 season.

One of the principal terms of the settlement is that the agreement "cannot be considered an admission by the NFL of liability, or an admission that plaintiffs' injuries were caused by football."

According to the settlement, $675 million of the $765 million would be used to compensate former players and families of deceased players who have suffered cognitive injury, including the families of players who committed suicide after suffering from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Other money will be used for baseline medical exams, the cost of which will be capped at $75 million. The NFL also will fund research and education at a cost of $10 million.

Individual awards would be capped at $5 million for men who have or develop ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease or another severe cognitive impairment; $4 million for those diagnosed with CTE after their deaths; and $3 million for players with dementia.

The panel determining the benefits will be independent of the NFL and NFL Players Association.

The settlement will include all players (whether they were part of the suit or not) who have retired as of the date on which the court gives preliminary approval. The settlement also includes deceased players' authorized representatives or family members. Current players are not eligible.

The NFL has 20 years to pay the full amount of the settlement, but half of the total must be paid within the first three years and the rest over the next 17 years.

A source told ESPN that the compensation program is designed to last for up to 60 years, and that if a retired player develops a severe neurological illness in the future, he will be eligible to apply for compensation.

Legal fees are not included in this agreement. A district court will decide what compensation the plaintiffs can receive for those costs.

So the NFL is admitting guilt by not admitting it.

Latest U.N. Report Shows Raider Nation At Bottom Of Human Development Index Rankings

NEW YORK—According to a new report published Friday by the United Nations Development Programme, Raider Nation has for the fifth straight year held the lowest position in the Human Development Index rankings.

Taking into account such factors as health, education, and poverty, the report stated that the Human Development Index value of Raider Nation is 0.302, far below the global average and indeed at the very bottom of the 187 territories surveyed by the international organization.

“The empirical evidence is definitive in demonstrating what are, unfortunately, very obvious and disturbing issues in this isolated portion of the world,” said UNDP administrator Helen Clark. “As the HDI statistics show, the average adult in Raider Nation has a drastically low number of years of formal education, an incredibly meager income, and a very short life expectancy. And these numbers are only getting worse each year.”

“Frankly, the conditions in Raider Nation are nothing short of disgusting and abhorrent,” Clark continued. “This is not a crisis that will simply resolve itself. The situation requires millions, perhaps even billions of dollars in humanitarian aid so these people can receive the help they so desperately need.”

Pre season bench players.

Ahhhhh I get it. So when the Patriots lost to the Lions in the preseason last week, they were done. Toast. Doom and gloom. Season is over, might as well not even lace them up and play.

But when the Patriots beat the Giants in the preseason, in a game in which Brady didn't play but Eli Manning DID, it's just a game with "preseason bench players".

Yeah, you're not biased at all.

What happened? Your Giants with their Superbowl MVP quarterback couldn't even beat the Patriots backups? Might as well just pack it up for the season now. :p

How long did Manning play, I don't remember him playing all 4 quarters. I would be more upset with the fact that Tebow will make the team not what Eli did.

Longer than Brady did. The fact remains that Manning got outplayed by Ryan Mallett. You can't escape that fact.

So again you're more concerned with something about the Patriots than you are about your own team. That's telling.

Belichick knows what he's doing. If he keeps Tebow, there's a reason and Bill thinks he'll be able to use him somehow. He's not going to keep him on the team just to keep him on the team, and he's not going to keep him over a guy that could have more of an impact.

Do you think the Pats should have 3 QB's and what other position could Tebow play this year that is worth taking up a roster spot.

Doesn't matter what I think, it matters what Bill thinks. I just watch the games. :p

Reports on twitter in the last hour are saying the Pats cut Ballard and Fells, which means Gronk most likely will be starting the season on the active roster and not the PUP.

That line always annoys me no matter who says it. Sure Belichick is a good coach, but people make it sound like he's god. Haynesworth? Oh he knows what he's doing, the defense in top 5 now. Ochocinco? Now Brady has a deep threat, Belichick will turn his career around. Mallet? He's the next generation for Brady, Belichick will make him a star. Lloyd? Now Tebow. Bill knows what he's doing. He'll be a big contributor to the offense.

The one I will give him credit for is Moss. That was a big turnaround, but the talent was already there.

This is nothing against you, I just hear it all the time and it gets under my skin. :p

If you're gonna bring up the experiments that failed, how about the ones that were successful? Rodney Harrison? Corey Dillon? Trading for Wes Welker? Switching Troy Brown to CB?

On that note, the Patriots have cut Tim Tebow. Like I said, Bill knows what he's doing. :p

Harrison I'll give him, Dillon was already really good on the Bengals anyway, Welker I'll give him, but I feel like that was more Brady then Belichick, and I'll give him Brown.

I'm not saying he has failed at every player he's brought in. I'm saying the idea that Bill can do no wrong and he "knows what he's doing" is overused.

Anyway, do you guys think Tebow has any chance of being picked up by a team? I think he'll end up either overseas or in Canada.

If a team can convince him to play another position I think he might have a chance in the NFL. Otherwise I don't see who would take him.
