Matt Schaub exits with ankle injury.

"HOUSTON -- Texans quarterback Matt Schaub left Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams with what appeared to be a right ankle injury after being sacked by defensive end Chris Long late in the third quarter.

As Schaub limped off the field, a smattering of Texans fans began cheering. As Texans backup quarterback T.J. Yates entered the game, the cheers grew louder.

Although Houston faced a 31-6 deficit when he left the game, Schaub had completed 15 of 21 pass attempts for 186 yards and hadn't thrown a touchdown or an interception.

Schaub remained on the sideline surrounded by trainers, having his ankle taped, while Yates finished Houston's drive, which ended with the fifth pick-six thrown by a Texans quarterback in five consecutive games."

Amazing finish to the Patriots-Saints game. :D

Unfortunately, Amendola basically knocked out cold, and Talib left with a hip injury. This team is snakebitten, but still grinding it out. Nice to see.

So I take it the Patriots still "haven't beat any good teams"? :D:p

The defensive effort against Graham today was absolutely masterful. I hope Talib is okay, because he's been lights out. I own Graham on one of my fantasy teams, and I'm not even mad.

Hope Amendola is okay, he looked....really not well. I'd predict he's out for a couple of weeks at least. And cue all the uninformed morons saying he's injury prone.

Yep. Jimmy Graham finished the game with the same stat line as Gronk.

That predatory cheap shot by that Saints player on Amendola was ridiculous. He should have been ejected. If the league is serious about reducing head injuries they need to start enforcing their rules and acting on plays like that.

Still liking my Lions. They went to half time and came back with their heads screwed on right. Which is what good teams do.

Even with Calvin not 100%, he still pulled the safety every time.:D

Hey MacNut... how are those 0-6 Giants doing? Still think Dallas had no business winning that game. I guess the other five teams didn't either huh..

What is sad about the NFC East is anybody can still win it......

How many good teams have the cowgirls beaten. :D

That game had me at the end of my seat!! It was just an amazing finish. Half the stadium was empty after the interception. But you can never count Brady out!

Great game with two of the best QBs to every play the game!

Tell me what was wrong with that hit? except for the fact that it was administered on a patriot?

Amendola lowered his shoulder, defender lowered his shoulder and hit him on the shoulder.... Amendola was not defenseless and he wasnt out of bounds yet... there was no helmet to helmet contact.... So tell me what was so ridiculous about that hit other than your player getting hurt?

No helmet to helmet? Are you blind?

The helmets clearly collide and Amendola's head then snaps backwards.

That's textbook helmet to helmet. If the league is serious about addressing head injuries they need to start punishing players who deliver reckless headshots like that. The player should have been ejected and suspended. A small fine is just a joke and shows the league doesn't really give a ****.

I dont think you know the definition of a helmet to helmet hit.... if the defender led with his helmet and hit him square with his helmet that would have been one thing.... but he clearly led with his shoulders and hit him with his shoulders first. the helmet contact came afterwards and was incidental.

I wonder if the hit would have been the other way around with a patriot defender, if you would have had the same reaction... based on your homerism I highly doubt it.

Who cares whether he led with his shoulder or helmet? The principle point of contact was Amendola's head either way and he didn't make any attempt to avoid contact with Amendola's head.

I might be confusing the details in the NFL's rules because I watch way more hockey but that doesn't change the fact that it's a dangerous hit. If that hit is technically still legal by current rules, then that's a problem. If the league is serious about reducing head injuries, they need to fix their rules, get rid of this nonsense about intent and how they "led" the hit, and adopt a rule like the NHL's Rule 48 where any hit where the head is the principle point of contact is illegal, regardless of intent or how you lead into the hit. A shoulder pad to the head can cause just as much damage as a helmet to the head.

If they are serious about reducing head injuries, they should be making every attempt to get players to avoid any hit where the primary point of contact is a player's head. It's reckless and dangerous.

blah blah blah homer homer homer.

You can call me a homer all you want but that doesn't change the fact that the Saints are a dirty team (last year's bounty scandal is proof enough of that) and that guy made the principle point of contact Amendola's head. Targeting any players head is dirty regardless if you lead with your helmet or your shoulder.

It's not possible to eliminate every head shot, but it was easily avoidable in this case if the Saints player extended and led with his arms instead of his shoulder/head.

so because the Saints had the bounty scandal that means they are still a dirty team? So going by that logic are the Patriots also still cheaters and recording other team's sidelines?

With all due respect, this statement is really silly. Leading with your arms is not correct football form when tackling. The new concussion safety tackling technique that the NFL sponsors through Youth USA Football teaches that the intended "point of impact" to tackle with is your shoulders. You deliver the blow with your shoulders and wrap up with your arms. There is no way to completely avoid helmet to helmet contact in football even with correct form. What the NFL is trying to do is to teach players to keep their heads up and tackle with square shoulders as opposed to "spearing" or leading with the helmet and the head down.

Here's a link to their page with complete video demonstrations.

This petty back and forth is getting tedious.

Jerod Mayo is done for the season with a pectoral muscle tear. This isn't even funny anymore with the injuries. Wilfork done, Mayo done, Gronk in traction, Vereen still out, Amendola probably doesn't know his own name at the moment...**** this season.

Looks like we'll get to see even more of the kids play this year.

you're 5-1 !!! LOL.... Some teams are fully healthy and have terrible records. Be grateful that you have a great QB-Coach combo. That can overcome a lot of things in the league including an abundance of injuries

Exactly, seems like you could put your practice squad on and still win games. A win is a win doesn't matter if it is by 1 point or 30 points.

Heck you could be like the Giants at 0-6!!! :D (Sorry MacNut had to be said one more time). I won't kick you to much while you are down.

I'm not complaining about our record. But we're not just losing bodies, Mayo and Wilfork are the leaders of the Patriots defense, which has finally become good. Amendola was supposed to be our #1. Gronk is Gronk. Those are huge blows. So yes, we've won, but those wins have come at a cost.

But okay, I agree I should probably shut my mouth since we're 5-1 and Brady is healthy. That's something to be grateful for, you guys are right. I will take the optimistic approach here. :)
