That game was fun... love the crowd chanting "we want blunt!!"

Luck is impressive.. he's going to be a good QB in this league for a long time. Just needs a bit more experience and some more players around him (TY Hilton is a beast too).

Patriots going to their 8th AFC Championship of the 13 seasons of the Brady/Belichick era. :D

@63dot: Tonight is the perfect example of why you can't judge a QB's play by their statistics. ;)

I predicted earlier that the Pats would get tough on defense and run a lot more, but 4 picks, in your face commanding sacks, and 4 runs into the end zone from one guy is simply amazing. Great game and way to put the fear of physical football into the next opponent's eyes. I could say the next opponents have to stop the run but how does anybody stop Blount? It doesn't seem to matter if the opposing team expects Blount or not because he simply runs right through them. Last night gave me a dejavu of the days of Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton.

Give credit where credit is due. The Pats offensive line & tight ends were absolutely dominant in run blocking last night. Blount didn't do it by himself.

Brady was money last night. Didn't have to throw the ball a ton but when he did he was solid. I remember one play where he threw an absolute rocket strike to Amendola (I think) at like the 10 yard line.. one of the best passes I've seen him throw all year.

Your whole team was humming last night, but Blount was otherworldly imho with AFC and Patriots record. It certainly wasn't just a runner who did his deed because everybody was doing their job. He had a banner night that will be played back in Pats clips for decades!

We also did good against Carolina, at least for a W. with Frank Gore getting a lot of yards and Kap with nearly 200 passing. Onto the big house in the sky against Seattle.

I don't do twitter but I assume the beast is Seattle.
"Beast Mode" came into common parlance amongst Seahawks fans about three years ago largely because of this run by Marshawn Lynch in the playoff game against, umm, NOLA. Note how he just shoves Greer to the ground, that is what "Beast Mode" refers to, Lynch's "I will hurt you" running style.

NO did make a gallant 4th quarter effort but still came up short.

Again, look at the replay of Lynch's 31 yard TD in the 4th: the defender was very hesitant to tangle with BeastMode in the open field, because, well, he did not want to get hurt/embarrassed. He really should have stopped that run around the 5 but just makes a weak pretend effort at a tackle.

Bring on the Patriots!!!!

I realize the Patriots have a tall task in trying to slow the greatest offense of all time, especially with all their key injuries, but one thing is for certain: they won't play as timidly as the Chargers did in this game. It took the Chargers way too long to adjust the game plan, and even still, they had a chance. They just weren't good enough, though - Denver's final clock killing drive was a methodical backbreaker.

Beating Denver in Denver will be a challenge, no doubt about it. But it kind of seemed destined to come down to this.

I give a hat tip to Manning for kind of pointing out (nicely) to Sal Paolantonio the absurdity of asking about the Broncos injuries/adversity when their opponent is the Patriots, aka the Pro Bowl IR team.

And apologies to fans of other teams for the inevitable saturation of Brady vs. Manning storylines coming your way. That said, it's been a long time since the Patriots were true underdogs, and I always really enjoy that.

The NFC championship game is seriously going to feel like a pre-superbowl. The biggest rivalry in the NFC for the championship game. This is going to be the most intense game i've ever been to. It's going to be a great game. GO HAWKS! :)

Seattle Times reports that secondary-market tickets (scalpers) for Sunday's game start at $461. Regular sales for the last 6000 will be regionally limited (SF fans who want to go to the game will have to find a scalper).

Bring on the Patriots!!!!

The chargers finally made a game of it in the 4th quarter but too little too late.

No surprise, I long ago said the path to the super bowl would be through Denver and Seattle.

If the Patriots play 4 quarters of top notch football, I don't know any team that can beat them, but Denver scares the crap out of me. They can throw some serious numbers up in a hurry.

I'm not too worried about our offense. I think we can put up enough points to win the game. The big question is can our defense limit or stop Brady/Blount enough to win the game.

Pretty funny that people were on the Colts bandwagon after the chiefs game, which I thought was a bigger meltdown by the chiefs, than the comeback by the colts, but Andrew Luck is still a boss.

In any case, I'm gland we're getting a Brady/Manning AFC championship; I hope the pats can pull it off.

I'm worried about our defense, we typically struggled against teams we shouldn't have. Consider how we let the Dolphins come back and defeat us.

I'd say the broncos have more weapons, and our weak secondary only enhances those weapons.

Either way it will be a fun game :D

I feel like SF is hot right now, if you look at the Seahawks they couldnt really get anything going through the air against the Saints. Their running game and defense pretty much carried them.... I feel like SF has a much better run defense to contain Lynch a little better. So I like the 49ers to win in Seattle.

And I just hate the Pats so I like Denver to beat them. Manning had a pedestrian game by his standards because he was saving all the firepower for the AFC Championship game. :D

We are facing the best teams by far. Unfortunately, of the three great teams we have to potentially play the most terrifying one are the Seahawks and at their venue.

If we somehow get past them I would still rather face the Patriots, as good as they are, than the Broncos. Denver has everything working together very well and probably only second best during the season and postseason to the Seahawks. Seattle had to win a very tough division and pulled it off so hats off to them.

Any hope of possibly facing the Colts or Chargers in a Super Bowl are dashed so its naturally the two top seeds in the AFC staring at whoever the NFC puts there. It should be a good final game.

The Seahawks are probably a cut above everybody else with the Broncos quite a bit further down the list and then the Pats and Niners about equal to each other tying for third with the slight edge to the Pats. Somehow we have to contain the Seattle running game and protect our quarterback. I am sure Harbaugh is thinking exactly those two things as his chief priorities. With such stiff competition it makes this even more fun even though many of my fellow Niner fans have their doubts.

Of the four possibilities I see this:

Seahawks-Broncos...Seahawks by three
Seahawks-Patriots...Seahawks by six
Niners-Broncos...Broncos by six
Niners-Patriots...Patriots by three

It will be interesting to see who wins and by how much. I don't expect any blowouts and had the Colts or Chargers been in then maybe a touchdown or more if they faced Seattle. I also expect more running than usual from all four remaining teams.

I'm not going to try to make any predictions.

It's just awesome that the four best teams made it this year. Exactly how it should be. I think alot of us Pats fans were saying back when we won the regular season matchup that we were looking forward to the rematch in the AFC Championship game... it just seemed like it was destined to happen, and here we go.

There's three more football games left this year and all three of them are going to be phenomenal.

Except for the Seahawks-49'ers game. Unless Wilson can get some of that passing mojo back the 49'ers are going to the Super Bowl.

But who am I to make these guesses. I thought the Saints would beat Seattle both times.

ISTR some standard thing about 2nd year QBs having to struggle a bit: what this season has been for Seattle is Wilson's "sophomore slump", but Carroll is a D-type coach, so Wilson's middlin' performance has been obscured by the likes of Thurmond, Wagner, Chancellor, Bennet, Sherman, Mebane, Big Red, et al. As they say, O sells tickets, D wins games.

It's the performance of others and that Seattle D that will probably go all the way this year. The way you took a dynamic QB like Kap and shut him down to no touchdowns put the Niner nation on alert. Where Seattle was the only team I was close to disliking, this made me really hate them. Not only can Kap throw but he's a great runner but you stopped that, too. We scored three points total in that most brutal of games. I think it's why most pros still pick Seattle to win it all. D does win the games and in most cases over most eras in football it always has.

Sometimes you can make a case for offense if you spin the numbers another way but pretty much that myth about great offense was killed by the first comment after article outlining the great day Kap had against the Ravens. :)

I wonder what the view is after the raven vs 49ners game?

What's weird is that some people are talking about the upcoming game being Kap versus Seattle's QB when what we should pay attention to is the defense Kap faces that day. Our best hope is that Seattle won't be on their best game. I have a feeling that the crowd will really rile up Seattle's D to put the hurt on the Niners. Likewise with Manning versus Brady and since they are never on field at same time, and we can assume both QBs will rack up big numbers this weekend in Denver, it will come down to how the Ds perform. Who will shut down the opposing QB just enough? You don't have to have the season's top ranked D, but more a defense that shows up on game day.
